I contracted Steve's Masonry Repair LLC to tuck point an 80yr old chimney with decaying mortor. I…read moreasked for the old mortar to be removed and new mortar be placed (tuck point). Steve quoted $1,000. His crew showed up and barely ground out the old mortar (going only a 1/2 inch deep before coating the seams with new mortar). I climbed on the roof and noted the shotty work. I called and texted Steve to discuss. He himself said mortar should be no less than 3/4" to 1". FYI, web says 2 to 3 times the width of a joint. Then Steve scolded his staff for telling me that they only did 1/2" (see photo of receipt). Steve was more upset that I knew the truth about the work they completed then he was about rectifying the job. He wanted me to call Champion (another local biz to confirm his story - i certainly wouldn't trust them either). He refused to adjust the bill and threatened to pull his team without them finishing. Don't trust this company! His team was also very condescending. I am very knowledgeable about construction. They lied to my face and were quite smug while doing so.

Ultimately decided to go with another masonry. Way too eager for the work. (And I had other…read moreconsults lined up as well, thankfully.) But Steve had called really late one night to ask why I hadn't hired him yet & asked if I had went with someone else because they were cheaper. I replied yes & even wanted to know who. Steve had added all of these requests onto the quote that I knew were not yet needed & were confirmed by two other masonry's! I get trying to upsell, but don't add things to the quote a customer actually doesn't need right at that moment if that's not what they're asking for! Bring it to their attention & let them know it's something that needs to be watched & eventually addressed, but not at this time. And give the quote for what 'is' needed instead of trying to scam them out of more money for whatever reason you may have; no moral, no values, need the work/money, etc.!?! The masonrys that I had come look over my place, I questioned them re: all these additionals & said 'both' companies were so honest & said the 'exact same things'; "the majority I didn't need & the rest could just be watched & done if/when the problem ever gets worse"! The one I ultimately chose for various reasons, went above and beyond what they were hired to do & my home looks beautiful again! So the moral of the story is, please get multiple quotes from companies, no matter how small of businesses you are choosing to go with! It's worth it in the end...!

Tony came to my house to check the cause of my snow melt in my basement. Before entering my house…read morehe noticed my yard sloped downward towards my foundation. He said that is the cause of the snow melt getting into the basement and recommended landscaping vice foundation work. This would be a huge saving for me as the foundation work would be tens of thousands of dollars. I greatly appreciate Tony's professionalism and honesty and highly recommend him and his company T K Mason for similar stoneworks at your residence.

There is nothing worse than looking at your chimney and seeing pieces of brick falling out. This…read morewas happening with our chimney and each year, the problem got worse. It was only a matter of time before it would crumble completely. Time to get it repaired. Unfortunately it was too far gone for a repair so a complete tear-down and rebuild was necessary. I received a few bids but I leaned towards Tony because of his positive reviews on several review sites. That and the fact that his bid was very competitive. Also, TK Mason did not ask for a percentage of the payment to accompany the signed contract. Some companies require a payment up front before the work begins and the remainder of the payment due at the end of the job. This was the deciding factor for me. There were a few delays, thanks to our rainy Spring weather but once a clear day was forecast, Tony's guys showed up and started work. They worked on my chimney all day, ripping out the old one and building a complete new structure. Their attention to detail was impressive and their brickwork expertise definitely showed on the finished product. They cleaned up nicely and left me with a chimney that will most likely outlast the rest of the house. I've posted a photo of the chimney taken while our roof was being replaced.

Please don't hire this service. Hector does not show up on time. Promises to show up at agreed time…read moreand only comes 1-2 hours later without any warning or communication. I had him come to repair my shower. He not only unevenly retiled my wall that he demo'd, he also did not slope the pan correctly. You can see the unevenly placed wall tiles in the attached photos. Even the tiles on the step into the shower is so uneven. Despite this, it gets worse. Once he claimed to have finished, I asked him to water test the shower. Come to find out he had the drain far too low after I lifted the stainless cap of the drain. The stainless cap of the drain was simply sitting flush with the tile without actually being connected to the drain. Also came to find out that he didn't even use the correct drain. He tried fitting a shower drain typically used for acrylic / fiberglass shower pans (no-caulk drain) on my tile floor bathroom repair. Therefore the drain pipe and valve weren't stabilized with the cement/mortar. After this he mentioned that he would come back to fix the issue but has since ghosted me and is dodging my calls and texts. Huge waste of time and money. As part of our agreement he was going to do some painting as well. He lied about that too. If you still decide to use this service for whatever reason, DO NOT pay him money until you're completely done and satisfied with the result because he WILL take off. I've since had to hire another contractor to fix all his mistakes. He had to rip out all of Hectors poorly done work. Don't let the surprisingly cheap cost fool you. It's not worth it. Get the job done right even if it costs you a little more. Don't go with HHConstruction. They will mess up your house.
