We're really disappointed with the service. The front desk agent was not a telling the truth to their customers. They charge us for the parts that the haven't replaced yet and not telling us that the parts wasn't replaced but they charged us the full amount. The mechanic are also lied to the customer. This is in response to the business owner accusing me of "wanting a discount or free service" I was not asking for a discount OR service. My ACDelco battery that I bought from D&J died after a year. The battery has a 30 month replacement warranty from ACDelco. I was asking for the receipt for the battery so I can have ACDelco or GM do a warranty replacement myself. I was going to do all of this myself. Attached a photo of the battery that was giving low voltage. Serial #05089 Battery Build Code G053R (Gold, May, 2023) As you can see from my previous post, I posted the battery issue on June 14th, 2024 for a battery that has a giant "30 MONTHS" on it. This shop is a scam had my transmission done by them they said they installed a remanufacture that my warranty company provided, but my vehicle was still acting the same way when I took it into shop. had to take the vehicle back to them to redo the job. They still did not get it right never provided me with the proper paperwork showing that the vehicle Had the transmission installed, they cannot provide me with any tracking information in regards to who picked up the previous transmission that was in my 2020 Dodge Durango GT and they provide me any information showing that the transmission installed at all. Then one of their representatives by the name of Christie tried to charge me for a diagnostic for brakes and rotor, which I did not give approval for. Picked up my vehicle the very next day or at least try to. They put my vehicle outside the shop and locked my keys inside. Will never go to this place again or recommend worst business I've done with anybody that has an auto mechanic shop. If you wanna save yourself time money and a headache, don't go to this place. read more

I was charged for 2 hours of labor even though I was only there for 1 hour, simply because two employees worked on my brakes, something I was never informed about beforehand. I was then told I was "lucky" they didn't charge me an inspection fee, even though inspections are free statewide. Christy offered a 10% refund but claimed she couldn't process a credit card refund, refused to write a check, and also couldn't figure out how to use Zelle, even though she offered to Zelle. **Auto Body Shop Negligence Review** DO NOT GO HERE I am beyond disappointed -- I am absolutely outraged by my experience with D & J Auto Repair. What should have been a routine service turned into a complete nightmare involving serious negligence and what amounts to a hit-and-run -- caused by one of their own employees. I left my car in their care, trusting them as any customer would. But instead of being notified of any issues, I found out from a police officer -- not the shop -- that my car had been involved in a hit-and-run while in their possession. My vehicle was damaged, and even worse, it hit another car a TESLA. I had no idea until I received that call. The shop never contacted me. They said nothing. This behavior is not only unacceptable -- it's unethical, dishonest, and possibly criminal. A business I trusted with my property allowed my car to be involved in an accident, failed to report it, and acted like nothing happened. That is a massive violation of trust. When I confronted them, I was met with nothing but excuses and deflection. No accountability. No real apology. Now the owner of the other car has filed a claim through my insurance -- all because this shop didn't own up to what happened. I'm left dealing with the consequences of their actions and MESS! Now my insurance will go up due to THEM! To make matters worse, the shop is now under new management -- the previous owner is gone I have been going to this auto shop for over 30 years, and it's currently being run by two women who have shown zero responsibility for what happened under their watch and they are EXPENSIVE! . If this is how they handle damage and liability, I strongly urge anyone thinking of taking their car to D & J Auto Repair to reconsider. If this could happen to me, it could happen to anyone. Christy has the balls to respond to my comment but Last Friday, I called her and she said she would get back to me after speaking with the Tesla driver -- but she never did. Now it's Tuesday, and instead of following up with a phone call as promised to a customer, she is replying through a message here. Went here for a check engine light. They said low oil due to a leak and had to replace my timing cover. When I took it back my oil was leaking more than before. Found a pool of oil in my driveway the very next morning when I had never had one before. Told them the leak was right below the timing belt cover work, but they went and changed the oil filter gasket on the other side of the engine. Then they tried to charge me for the work since to them they fixed something unrelated to the leak. Why the hell are they fixing other things I have no idea. Brought the car back home and it was still leaking oil in the same exact spot. So I brought the car back again and told them it's still leaking. This time they told me I need to change my oil pan gasket. At this point I didn't trust their diagnosis. When I went to pick up the car they told me they put silicone around the oil pan as a temporary fix. I took the car to another shop to get a second opinion. The other shop found the leak was due to improper timing cover replacement. I took the car back to D & J with the diagnosis from the other shop and they refused to acknowledge it. Then they claimed they already changed the oil pan gasket and that I was confused. They never told me or got my approval to do that work. To top it all off they parked my car on the street and it got ticketed. I've been trying to find a decent shop in the area and it looks like I will have to keep searching. Absolutely the most unprofessional and incompetent auto repair shop! Avoid at all costs unless you want to get ripped and have your car held hostage for weeks on end. I took my car in for an oil change and because an airbag warning light came on. The oil change was done in a day and they said they would hook up their diagnostic tool to see the cause of the warning light but it was likely a sensor. I didn't hear back that day or the next and when I called they don't answer and their voicemail box is full. I finally got down and they say they're still diagnosing and need more time. I get this excuse for several more days. Promises of an update tomorrow and several more days go by and nothing. Finally get a hold of someone and they tell me it's a clock spring. They say they can order the part that day and have it done the next day so I agree. Once again no callbacks, no answer and voicemail full the next day and for several more days. I go down in person again and they give me the same update for a few days before and when I say I told you yes move forward. They say I had to pay for the part before they could order it. You could have told me that several days ago when I agree! And to make matters worst, now try to add several hundred dollars. After some back and forth, they agree to honor the original price they quoted me. Despite my better judgement, I agree again with their guarantee it will be done the next day. Unfortunately, I should have listened to my gut. No call, no answer and voicemail full every time I call. Come down for the 3rd time, I get the run around and more excuses. Here I am now and it's still not complete. They have reassembled my car and now I have to start over somewhere else. Hopefully I can find an honest mechanic who can do the work correctly and timely. Do not recommend! There are way too many auto repair shops in this area to deal with such poor service. read more

I didn't trust the new owners so I took my car to Shiva's a couple blocks away and he fixed my car for $390. I also bright my 2015 Silverado in because of a electrical short and they claimed that I need a new battery even though my batteries were only 1 yr old. D&J use to have a stellar costumer service and quality of work. I guess this changed with new management? I tried bringing my car Saturday morning since it says online they're open. It was closed. I brought it Tuesday morning to fix my A/C and take a look at the suspension. They admitted that they're busy but will let me know if they can work on it. I give them a call in the afternoon for an update, but no answer. No courtesy call back to let me know that they're keeping it overnight. I call back next morning and they say it's next in line to be serviced. I call 3 times throughout the day for any update and it goes to voicemail every time. I ask my friend to go into the shop to get an update as I'm at work. They let him know that they've been really busy and haven't even looked at it. I tell him to ask for my car back and they give him the keys without question. Pretty bad experience for a shop that use to be good, but with other recent reviews, it looks like I'm not the only complaint. read more

Easily one of the biggest scams I've gone through. I have Carmax extended warranty. I asked for a transmission repaid window motor and air bag sensor. They fixed my transmission problem, and took 4 months to get a motor for my window and claim Hyundai isn't replying. Finally got my motor and never ever got back to me about my sensor . I called multiple times from multiple numbers and they replied to all numbers except mine . Til this very day I never got that sensor replaced and apparently to Carmax, once they pay the shop they can't take it back . D&J auto body must know that . Cause guess what Carmax says? STAY AWAY...DISCLAIMER I USED THIS SHOP OUT OF NECESSITY OF NEEDING IT TO GET DONE ASAP...Used to be very upfront and fair pricing. Was given multiple quotes for rear brakes. Mechanic stated rear rotors could be resurfaced. When I asked for a small discount on the price due to choosing to put new rotors and not needing the time to resurface. Another person maybe an owner? Came and said they never resurface rotors right after I had just received a quote to do the job with resurfaced rotors???? clearly, someone is lying. I'm choosing to have it done because I don't have time to go around and get prices and quotes from other places. Absolutely horrible communication from owners felt like I was being chastised for asking for a discount. Clearly, it would take a lot less time to put on new rotors than resurface the old rotors. read more

They accommodated us without an appointment for a routine car maintenance/oil change. 1 thing he told me later was that the mechanics were female, which is great to see! Had my car in for an oil change. Months later, decided to do the oil change myself. However, the oil drain plug was so tight that I could not remove it. I even tried using penetrating oil on the bolt and a longer lever. I returned to D&J to ask them politely to loosen this drain plug, and they refused to do so According to manufacturer, this should not be tightened beyond 20 lb/ft of torque, thus it should easily be removable by hand. D&J would not even consider loosening the plug, which would have taken 1 minute to do, very disappointed. I had to take the car to another shop and pay full price for an oil change just so they could use an impact wrench to loosen the bolt and change the damn oil. read more

Typically, I do not leave reviews, But today, I will leave this one because I feel it is earned. Recently. I took two vehicles to D & J Auto Repair. I had never been there and found them on Yelp. I saw some harsh reviews, making me skeptical about taking my vehicles there. I decided to call in advance, spoke with the service advisor, and decided to take my vehicle there because they were the only shop that was willing to take my car on the same day. I thought I would be taking a risk with any provider since I didn't have a relationship with them. The repair went well on the first vehicle (minor job- hose replacement). So, I thought I would go ahead and give them the more significant job with the second vehicle. Both repairs were successful. The first repair was a busted water hose, and they told us that without adding a list of add-ons, that was unnecessary. The second car was a bit more involved (front differential replacement, flushing of fluids from the front differential, rear differential, transfer case, and Engine. After the job, I drove the vehicle home without incident; the next day, I noticed the oil leaking. Immediately return the next day AM. I spoke with Christi (Owner), and she immediately took control of the situation and rectified the problem. She gave me peace of mind that it would be resolved. Brought car in 4 times for same problem. Each time, they say it's something new. Their mechanics are uncertified amatures. The can't properly diagnose your problem, so they just guess. It's all kinda trial and error. Save your money and go to SAE certified mechanics at a dealership. Do you ever have to go back to an auto shop to ask them to fix an oil change they did? Obviously, there is always a first time for everything. My husband took my car for a road trip 1 week ago. When I drove his car around town, I could smell oil whenever I turned on the fan. So I took the car for a smog check required for its upcoming registration renewal, thinking if it passed the smog check, I would take it to D&J for evaluation and repair as I have been going to D&J for 10+ years for all my auto service needs. A failed smog test would mean car repair/replacement. Soon after the smog technician opened the hood, he told me that the engine oil filler cap was off. I couldn't believe my ears. Fortunately the technician found the cap behind the engine and promptly put it back properly. He showed me the auto parts around the engine shiny with escaped engine oil. He told me that if the engine oil filler cap wasn't on, the car would have failed the smog test. As soon as I got home, I called D&J about the finding because they did the oil change two and a half months ago (i.e. we had been driving for that long without the engine oil filler cap on!). Michelle apologized and told me to bring the car in as soon as possible. I showed up the very next day for D&J to do-over the oil change and cleaning up the soiled auto parts. For my trouble, I asked for a complimentary repair of my car's door locks. Marlene, one of the new owners who bought the business from the founders D & J in 2022, asked the repair technician what the problems were, as she didn't overhear my initial narration although she sat about 5 feet from me. Then she told me that her shop stood behind their work and would make it right if not done right on the first go. She explained that fixing the lock would take time and a small biz like hers could not afford to do it for free, but could give me a discount. She never considered my lost wage for this unnecessary visit due to their negligence. Honestly, if an auto shop would botch an oil change, would you pay them for more elaborate repairs? Then Christy, probably another member of the management team, asked me to step outside to discuss because she didn't want other customers in the office to hear us. She claimed to be a mechanical engineer and shared that cars vibrate a lot when in motion and the engine temperature can reach over 1000 degrees, thus the engine oil filler cap could have been blown off during the last two and a half months. I have owned this car for 20+ years and this never happened. She then suggested that the smog technician might have opened the cap and forgot to put it back on when distracted. Unlike Marlene, Christy assigned blame to everyone else. Farewell, D and J! I hope you enjoy your retirement. I will never return to the shop you sold. By the way, Daniel and Johnny were/are as GREAT as the 5 star reviews said they are, but they sold the business in 2022 and retired. This review is for the business under new management. read more
