I had a bowl with the chicken and it was watery and bland even after putting everything on it. The chicken and beans were just super watery and had very little seasoning. Maybe their tacos are good. I probably won't go there again though. read more

The food, the service, the decor all hit five stars! We ordered the chicken taquitos and the ground beef wrap. The friendliest server behind the counter walked us through all the available fillings and toppings. Upon sitting down with our order, we were offered mild to really hot salsas, pico de gallo, plus the homemade bottled hot sauces. There are several sparkling water and soda options. The taquitos were, by far, the best I've had. The corn tortillas were shatteringly thin delicious cocoons for the flavorful breast meat inside. The accompanying guacamole was divine! Only $12.00 FOR FIVE! The wrap is similar to the Taco Bell Crunchwrap but SO MUCH BETTER! You get your choice of meat, beans, cheese, hot sauce heat level, and more. They have daily specials. Be sure to check out the specials board before you order. The seating area inside is quite small, but there are a few tables outside the entry in the historic entry way to the Baker City Hotel. Take a few minutes to peruse the photos that depict the beautiful history of the building and enjoy some of the best Mexican food in the area. Finding this little gem of a place in Baker City was the highlight of the trip! Although we tried some other places to eat as well, D & J Tacos made the whole drive worthwhile... we had to make it our lunch spot more than once during our few days in Baker City! Tacos, taquitos, chips and guacamole, and more - this place does what I call "fresh-Mex" right. Yes, the owners are not Mexican but their food is good, filling, tasty, with many options to choose from. Daily specials round out the comprehensive menu that includes burritos, tamales, taco salads, nachos, quesadillas and more. Passed through and came here on a Tuesday. Half off pork and chicken tacos were definitely worth it. Came to $2.25 per taco for a large amount of meat and guacamole. Only suggestion is ensuring the tortilla is heated enough so it doesn't explode. Pork is the best option read more

Passing through town and was looking for dinner and this place seemed worth a try. It's a tiny shop at the base of a bigger building. The young ladies making up the food were great. I went with a 12 chicken burrito. Option of black beans or refried. They suggested black, so I had that. There's a list of toppings so it will be made to what you want. Overall impression was it's just ok. The chicken was fairly bland and everything else seemed the same to me. I'm talking flavor, not heat from spice or anything. Stopped in to pick up something for lunch. Ordered the Kraken. It was Huge! Was disappointed in it. It was all rice with a smidge of meat. The condiments in it ( sour cream, guacamole , lettuce, and the rest www almost non existent. The flavor was bland. The man at the register is not friendly at all. Nice food and good staff. We have tried the Anchor bowl and turned out to be be a nice burrito bowl with yummy ingredients, retried bean looks mushy but tastes good. Tacos were excellent and kids quesadilla with chicken was also nice. Chicken is like pulled one not the grilled. Tamales were ok kinda not that great. Mid. Not authentic. If you're looking for an authentic asada burrito, don't go here. No offense but the people selling theses tacos are not Mexican, they're white. The food was good but....when I signed up for a 12" burrito I expected a lot more. I have small lady hands and this is the 12" burrito. That's a bit disappointing. Aside from that Baker city is charming and the people here are just lovely. Update...
