Delicioso has a great local and Classic Mexican vibe when you walk in. We were greeted and sat down quick. Their chunky salsa and beans were delicious as they brought those out to the table first. The house red enchilada sauce was very flavorful while not being spicy. I felt the chicken enchiladas were nothing great and the chicken was on the dryer side. The tamales had a great texture but not enough meat filling for me personally. So I will preface this with, I lived in Chihuahua, MX and this place is garbage. I was hopeful for the cuisine as the complaints online were mostly service, but the service is literally worth fighting over. Unbelievably rude, speaks as if she can barely muster the effort to give a sh!t. I work in the sales industry, so I get it, you can get burnt out, but this was like she hated you for being there. Pathetic. The food was absolutely awful. Taco Bell has served more flavorful meat (not sure what meat). I normally try and extend grace for a "one off" visit, but I would NEVER come back here. The ambience is weird at best, some POS dollar tree radio playing grainy Latin Music behind the (worst) bar. Tables are oddly spaced so you feel crowded. I have been going to D&J Tacos for almost 4 years and they are awesome, but weren't open for dinner as we came through town this time, wish they were. Damn I miss you guys D&J. I have eaten here about 4 times now and at least they are consistent. The food is good and I have yet to have a meal I did not enjoy. The service is another story. Upon entering, we have always been greeted like we are unwelcome guests. From there it rarely gets any better. The service is timely, but there is no warmth or friendliness from the server. It's all business and there has never been any sign they appreciate us as customers. The food, the service, the ambiance, all wonderful. The waitress did slightly irritate me because we asked her what she recommended and instead of telling us her favorite items she said "everything is good, it's authentic, it's made by Mexican women and it's authentic" emphasis on authentic, in a very cocky tone. Baker city was celebrating 150 years. So hubby and I decided to have dinner here. Man. Got to tell you the unfriendliness is over the top. They seem to not give a crap if you're there or not. We started out with tostadas, waitress could possibly be new... but there was another lady here that told my colleague to turn her phone call speaker off, because it was to loud? As well as we sent chips back 2 times because they were stale and the same lady that said to turn down the speaker gave us an excuse as to why they were "stale". The taquitos were filled with grease, the street tacos weren't served with a lime and the rice was bland and slimy.... The shrimp enchiladas the shrimp was salad shrimp and very bland (not what we were expecting) the sides were all basic and nothing special. The food was okay and just lacked flavor. The servers were pretty neglectful. The woman with blonde hair was very confident in her serving skills when she should tone it down a bit. Turning up the music so we can't talk to one another at the table, telling us the chips just needed to be heated up and that's why their stale, the other women was very apologetic and nice just new which we understand and will leave a good tip for her. We strive for a happy environment and good food, when both are lacking it's not so pleasant. But other then the service pretty decent for the small town of baker city. read more

This place has promise. The decor is nice, homely. We where promtly seated, and waters poured. The chips tasted good, the salsa, homemade(?). Our waitress took our order, and at the time only 3 other couples where in the place. I ordered an mexican pizza. I also ordered a Chimi. After about 35 minutes, my Mexican pizza showed up. It was delicious. I asked for the hottest sauce they have, she brought me this extremely mild red stuff. After about another 20 minutes our orderes showed. The food looked, ok. The taste, less then par. For the amount of time we waited for the food, I had very high hopes. The place gets a 2 star because the Mexican Pizza was good. My water cup went empty and took a few trys to get it refilled. I orderes a tequila sunset which was also vert good. They ended up charging us for extra chips and a 2 nd refill of coke!! YA A REFILL FOR A SODA!!! We can go to any 7 other Mexican shops in town and not be changed those. The Delicioso Mexican Rest. was great. We sort of stumbled on to it by accident. I LOVE that they do refries bean dip. That was a fancy awesome twist, that when done, I was like "why isn't every Mexican rest. doing this!!" I got a chicken burrito was also fabulous. My mom for some reason got the Taco Salad and left feeling grumpy and unsatisfied. I however took the go comfort food and that made the difference. The decor is wonderful. But, sadly the cuisine lacked any flavors generally found in Mexican food. I expected garlic, chipotle and roasted veggies packed with flavor... They weren't present in any of our dishes. I would like to have said the staff made up for the food, but I cannot. I thought this place was excellent. I think the restaurant must have just opened for dinner when I came in because there was only one other person eating in the entire restaurant. Immediately after being seated I was given chips and salsa as well as some warm refried beans. All delicious. I couldn't tell if the salsa was homemade or not but it was still fantastic. For my entree I ordered Rafael's Mixed Burrito. It tasted extremely fresh and it was nice and hot. It was a huge portion too. I'm a big guy and I could only eat half. If you like fresh authentic Mexican food this is it with handmade tortillas and fresh salsa. Plus one of the few eating places actually open on a Sunday. Also, the $1 mini-margaritas that brought us in for happy hour we are a big hit as well!! THey made fresh in-house corn toritllas and flour tortillas. We're regulars at this place and vegetarians. Being a vegetarian is really hard in small towns but, this place is SO good. It really makes up for the lack of meat. Let's start with drinks, their margaritas are delicious, tart and sweet, with a good amount of alcohol. They were a little less on the alcohol side for me, so I asked them to make it a bit stronger and it was perfect. Their Mexican coffee is pretty good too, it has Kahula, Tequila, and coffee all in one, topped with whipped cream. Personally, I wouldn't order it again, it tastes TOO alcohol-ly in my opinion, that's because I prefer sweet drinks. I also tried the Tequila Sunset, surprisingly it was pretty good! It had brandy, tequila, grenadine, orange juice, and I think a little bit of vodka (don't quote me on that). The last drink that I had there was the A.M.F., it wasn't really sweet (it was sort of like the long island iced tea) but it got my tipsy, in one drink! Upon entering they give you a basket filled with warm, crisp, delicious, melt-in-you-mouth corn chips, a chunky salsa, and warm beans. I'm pretty sure it's all-you-can-eat. The beans don't have animal lard in it, so that's a plus for any vegetarians. We like our salsa spicy, so we requested a super spicy salsa from them, the restaurant is family owned, so they specially made a really spicy salsa out of fresh chillies for us! It was spicy! Next, we ordered nachos. It had those same, delicious chips, beans, mozzarella and sharp cheddar, and it was topped with spring onions, sour cream, and guacamole. The cheese was melted to perfection and it couldn't have been better. We ordered two plates. For dinner, my dad ordered the vegetarian fajitas minus mushrooms. It was beyond delicious. The onions and the 3 kinds bell peppers were perfectly seasoned and had a generous amount of oil (which I didn't particularly like, but my dad fancied it). You have an option of either fresh, homemade corn tortillas or flour tortillas (he didn't get them, he just ate it as is). Along side, you get a plate of beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream, and a little lettuce and tomatoes. Additionally, you can ask for cheese and they'll bring you some in a small bowl. My mom and I ordered the enchiladas. We both had 3 enchiladas filled with cheese and topped with their mole (or red) sauce which was beyond delicious. Another time we went, I had their enchiladas verdes, which was sour, spicy, and delicious all at the same time. We then had the fried ice cream, to be honest, I didn't like it. The outside crust was really stale and not that crunchy, as I'm used to. The ice cream itself was delicious. I wouldn't skip on the ice cream. The only problem with this restaurant is that I think their rice is under-seasoned, but with some salsa and salt, it's pretty good. Plus the restaurant closes at either 7 or 8. So it's better to call before you go. All in all, I would go there again, (I've been coming here for over 2 months). The family is friendly, the food is good, and the atmosphere is nice as well. The food was delicious! My family is picky and everyone enjoyed it. My family of 5 was traveling through and came in 10 minutes before closing, with out realizing it, and they where awesome.
