I guess I will start by being open and up front and saying I put off doing this negative review for two years... we had such a terrible experience during installation of our LVP floors and the workmanship proved to not be great in the following year or two but my final straw that made me decide to finally write this review comes from being recently enlightened to yet ANOTHER issue with the quality of work. A couple of months ago we suffered severe water damage in our home and as a result, all of the LVP that Redstar installed in 2023 had to be ripped up and we found out they never even put a barrier under our flooring between it and the concrete. These guys cut SO many corners the entire job and this just has me livid again. SOME of the issues we had with Redstar- - What was supposed to be a 2wk job turned into 4wks - One of his workers stole a bottle of whiskey out of our cabinet. Had we noticed while the job was going on, we would have absolutely brought it up to Stan, however, we didn't notice it until we were moving furniture back into our house and at that point we were so sick of dealing with Redstar that we chose to let it go instead, however, there was absolutely nobody else in our house during this time (the house wasn't in living condition, so how could there have been?) so there's no way it was anybody else that took it. - Without our consent they modified our entry way steps almost permanently but we caught them. It was a rounded step down from the entry to our living room, Stan told us they could make the rounded edge work even with the LVP. We double checked with him because previous contractors told us no because it was round and the LVP is obviously not pliable but Stan said it was doable so we tr... well apparently his solution was to take the rounded edge and just make it a giant square! Which cut into our already small living room and looked horrendous! Thank God my husband works from home and came out of his office when he did, imagine his surprise that not only had they already framed the square out, but they were filling it with concrete without anybody even asking us if that was OK! It wasn't, they had to find another solution. - The house,was left FILTHY every day. Our kitchen was basically unusable the entire time. They made ZERO attempt to clean at all and make our home even remotely comfortable for us. I had to clean the kitchen daily to even be able to use a single countertop to make food. - Stan and his crew were supposed to level out some of the uneven flooring before installing the LVP and still, after already being installed, they had to rip up the floors, several places and level our area. They should have already done, but didn't because the floor would sink down or bend when you stepped on it. - Stan the owner was never on site unless we had an issue he had to come deal with. Idk where he got his workers but they were subpar, did subpar work. The only decent one who seemed to care at all was his supervisor Eric, who unfortunately also was rarely there until we were so fed up we demanded someone else finish the work. Very shortly after the work has been done , of talking within six months to a year max, there were already multiple planks that had cracked and we started noticing that the putty or whatever it is, they use in the joint of the flooring, was starting to fall out in multiple places. The only thing we clean our floors with warm water and vinegar so it's not like we were using harsh chemicals. I utilize Yelp a LOT for trusted recommendations on everything from food to construction services and everything in between and I felt guilty about not writing a negative review immediately after our experience with Stan and Redstar but to be completely honest, it was such a stressful experience (every day was something new, I dr dreaded coming home from work) on top of the fact that I was just done dealing with them on top of the fact that I didn't want to say anything negative that could possibly get in the way of our "1yr warranted on the work" if we need them to come back for anything so I just kept my mouth shut but honestly, I feel like this review needs to be put out there if it can save anyone from a fraction of the annoyance and headache we experienced with them! Finding out that the LVP was installed with zero barrier was my final straw. We paid over $13k for a shit job. I'll end it with this , our experience was so bad that we paid over $13,000 for the flooring, and when issues started to arise within the first year, we STILL didn't even want to bother contacting them to come fix the problems because we had SUCH a bad experience. We would rather eat it and deal with it than call them again.

A family member hired this contractor, paid the project in full, and to this day the work remains unfinished. More than five years later, the hall bathroom still does not have a completed tub or shower. Throughout this entire process, there has been excuse after excuse, promises that the work would be finished, and repeated commitments that were never honored. Delays can happen on any construction project, but five years is beyond unreasonable--especially after being paid in full. Communication has been inconsistent, and every time it seemed like there was finally going to be progress, another excuse would follow. If you're considering hiring this contractor, I strongly recommend getting everything in writing, avoiding full payment until all work is completed to your satisfaction, and carefully considering whether this is someone you want to trust with your home. I hope this review encourages the contractor to finally make things right, but more importantly, I hope it helps other homeowners make an informed decision.

Long story short, Thomas Jess Towell, aka Tom Towell, aka Towell Sales, aka Towell Flooring Sales, IS NOT LICENSED OR BONDED, yet claims to be. Based on my personal experience with them I can attest to this: he uses his estranged brother's license info as his own, despite his brother notifying the contractor's license board (CSLB) that he never had permission to use his license. His wife Claudia and daughter Kaitlyn infiltrate social media sites, such as Next Door and Facebook, and post bogus reviews in an attempt to convince the public that they are a legitimate licensed business. My wife posted a review here on Yelp under the name Diana M. back on 5/10/21 and as you can see they responded with lies to cover their tracks. I repeat, they were NOT LICENSED OR BONDED when we hired them and last we checked they still aren't. They use the "family owned business" tactics to win you over. We fell for it and have been dealing with the consequences ever since. My floors started lifting shortly after they installed them and we had to replace all his work!! He blamed it all on me and tried to flip the story to his benefit, as he's done to others. We gave him several opportunities to fix the issue but it was never done. He went as far to send his daughters boyfriend Santos to my house to fix the issue, as a favor to me, and then instructed me to pay direct. He later said I hired the boyfriend direct so he was off the hook going forward. I asked him for partial refund but he only sent me $1 out of spite. He finally said I yelled at him (which wasn't true) so he's no longer responsible for seeing the job through..just look at previous reviews and you'll see he does this to others. It's always one excuse after another which ends in clients "yelling at him" therefore he refuses to continue because he didn't like the way he was spoken to. I can go on and on but that doesn't matter. I'm not trying to prove my case on Yelp as I had already done so in CIVIL COURT (Case # SCVA2101394) and WON!! I'm glad the judge saw my mountain of evidence against his lies as that's all he came to court with. Yet, he has never paid me a single penny from my judgement. It's fine though. I have a judgement on their home that's accruing interest at 10%, which is going to be a lot more the longer they avoid their responsibility. Tom was scheduled for Criminal Court for contracting without a license (Case # MSB2305726) and since he did not show he now has an outstanding warrant for his arrest He also has another case against him from one of his employees that got injured on the job. Do yourself, and the public, a favor and stop hiring this guy. If you've already hired him then just pray that nothing goes wrong with his work because he has yet to show responsibility for his actions in my situation and in several others. He claims to have been doing this for decades but one must ask why he's yet to get properly licensed after all this time and even after being contacted by the CSLB for prior complaints, including mine, and the District Attorney's office after they let him know that he was facing charges for contracting without a license.

I did have a small issue with one step but as soon as I notified Tom about the issue, he had one of his workers over the next day to correct the issue.
