Took my car there after being rear-ended on the highway; estimates were relatively smooth and smooth talking to insurance company. Mechanics were great and did a great job. Three stars is feedback for front desk and hope they will improve. All was fine until final payment and a twist ending. So beware there is a 2.99% charge if you use your credit card, which is fine; they tell you and there are signs. But then my insurance company paid the shop directly so I'm due a refund. When you typically get a refund you get a refund for the ENTIRE amount charged on your card, right? Nope, they don't pay you the fees and THEN they took out refund for the deductible, so I was down about $500 ($250 deductible). I argued this was not a full refund then, but then front desk Michelle kept saying "I have signs all over. Can't do anything but cut you a check". Okay...then I guess she wanted to make me feel better by saying I'm going to get my deductible back, which I said "that is misleading because you as the body shop have no control over that; that is based on the assumption that the insurance company CAN collect". So she had no basis to insist I was going to get my deductible back. Customer service needs to be improved and stop misleading customers with statements promising return of your deductible. I gave the feedback that she should warn customers more clearly about the lack of refund for fees and also not use the assumption of a return of deductible when the body shop has no control. In this day and age businesses are successful by word of mouth. Unfortunately I would have recommended this shop to my friends until this happened and I will instead be telling them to steer away. read more

I've been taking my car(s) to D&S Auto Body for over 10 years. This past February (during high winds) a driver lost hold of his door which was caught by the wind and slammed into my passenger side leaving a lengthy Dent and Paint transfer. Due to high workload, I had to wait until the first week in May to take my Lexus in to D&S for repairs. Wouldn't you know it, 2 weeks before the big day I'm hit with flying debris while driving back from San Francisco - on the OTHER side of my car! Michelle was so helpful with both of these claims! She even helped me navigate the car rental arrangements which relieved a lot of stress for me! D&S always does such a superb job on all repairs! I have nothing but good things to say about D&S Body Shop. I had to get the rear bumper replaced on my Tesla Model 3, which was dinged while parked in a parking lot (so, totally the other driver's fault). CSAA (my insurer) sent me to D&S after I confirmed that they did work on Tesla cars (Tesla car owners - not all body shops will work with Tesla cars). I was able to get an estimate appointment almost immediately, and got an instant quotation. They ordered the part from Tesla, and called me when the part was in. I then made an appointment for the repair, and they said that the repair would take 3 days. Early on the third day, I got another call to say the work was done and my car was ready to be picked up. Sweet! So, why am I so happy with D&S? I don't know that they performed the repair better or worse than other shops would. But (1) they have a very nice and competent person that answers the phone, makes appointments, handles the paperwork, and checks you in and out (I hate it when the phone is answered or the desk is manned by a mechanic or the owner who always seems to want to be doing anything but helping you out); (2) they washed the car when they were done (and I don't just mean squirted with a hose; they really cleaned the car, made sure the windshield was spotless, and even vacuumed the inside; I would have PAID for that level of cleaning); and (3) they constantly kept me apprised of the status of the repair by text, so I knew how the work was going and when it was done. To me, the difference between a 4-star operation and one that gets 5 stars from me is they get the little things right. I assume competence, and I'm impressed by the extra effort. My SUV's trunk window shattered during this accident and thankfully, my brother recommended D&S to me. Michelle from D&S was incredibly helpful and guided me through the process of opening an insurance claim. She even offered to set up a car rental for me. Throughout the repair, I was updated frequently through text message and ended up picking up my car exactly on the day they promised. When I picked it up, I noticed that not only had they repaired the damages from the accident but they had also polished a large scuff mark that was on the side of my car (courtesy of another mishap). I hadn't even asked them to do this yet they had the courtesy to do so. To me, this is a sign of not only exceptional customer service but also true passion for what they do. While I hope to avoid any future accidents, if they do happen, I am happy to have found an honest and skilled body shop. read more
