Kevin&Connor have been my go-to place for service/repair for years because they are reliable and trustworthy. And more importantly, they are not condescending to me, a woman. They never talk down to me. I should have reviewed them a long time ago but this is what pushed me to it. My young adult son just moved to LA for his first job. He has a 2019 Honda Civic. When his A/C died, he was quoted $3000 for the evaporator. He'd found an apartment so he was driving up to the Bay Area to get his stuff. He asked if I'd book him at appointment at Kevin&Connor. When I called, Kevin picked up. I explained the situation to him. He told me that this was a known problem with Honda Civics, and that it was almost certainly the condenser that was the problem. He told my son to take to the dealership and tell them to just replace the condenser (which was covered under a 10-year warranty from them). He warned that the dealership might push back, and walked me through it. My son followed Kevin's advice, resisted pressure to replace the evaporator and had the condenser replaced. Yes, they were minor things here and there but still I still would have paid him. And, when I am charged I have confidence he tries to save me money whenever possible. Asked to do my service a day earlier and they were able to accommodate and get the job done on the same day. BEWARE! This shop is incompetent and/or un-trustworthy. I brought my car in to have a check engine light fixed. Kevin told me I had a bad catalytic converter and that changing that would fix the problem. After getting the job finished, I took the car to get smogged and was told that he installed the wrong make and model catalytic converter. Kevin then proceeded to have me pay more for a second catalytic converter. After about a month, the code came back again. I brought my car back and Kevin said the catalytic converter had a defect. I allowed him to replace it a third time. Again the same problem persists. I took my car into Honda this week, Honda informed me that the catalytic converter was installed wrong and that it has missing pieces. When I tried to solve the problem going directly to Kevin he told me he would try and fix it again. After 10 months of him trying to fix the problem and doing it incorrectly I requested a refund. He says I will have to take him to court and its my problem not his. read more

I can't say enough about Kevin & Conners Shop! Everything is top notch here. I was referred here for a minor repair over a decade ago. It was such a refreshing experience that I went back for my next repair and I have not gone anywhere else since. Kevin is a down to earth, mechanically savvy, honest and hardworking individual. His passion is cars and he truly enjoys interacting with his customers and staff. He and his staff are professional, good, kind people who explain the repair process, is happy to do a pick up or drop off, and the costs are reasonable . You know he is not gouging you. I have taken my car for estimates and asked Kevin for one as well. On top of being more reasonable, he explained why some of the recommended repairs by the other shop were not necessary or not necessary yet. Recently, I had my car hit and run. I went to collision repair places for estimates and then called Kevin to get his opinion. I didn't realize that he had expanded his shop with collusion body repair. The work was phenomenal and he worked harder than he had to dealing with the other driver's insurance company. He even had to write an email to the insurance company to get them moving forward. I've had the chance to chat with different staff members usually while getting a drop off. Each and every person is professional, nice and knowledgeable. Kevin hires people who reflect his personal ethics and values. Special shout out to Ryan in the office who does everything! My grandpa used K&C's for who knows how long before my Grandparents passed. My mom remembered how much my Grandpa would rave about the mechanic who kept their vehicles running (and bought my grandmas Mercedes from). Well after their passing, my car needed work so I gave them a call and brought in my Jeep. I've had random things go out, my Throttle Body, Multi Function Switch. I've needed some batteries replaced, the spark plugs done, oil changes, etc. Each issue I have had, Kevin has run the diagnostics on the car, and then researched the problems. He is honest, doesn't overcharge and they get the work done. Today, my car died and Kevin almost came to jump my car for me but AAA was there quickly. I was able to get my car over to him and he stopped what he was doing and went to replace my battery and replace the terminals as they were bad. He's worked on my mom, stepfather, and brothers cars. I needed an oil change ASAP and I had called around to a bunch of places but no one had availability for a long time. I called Kevin & Conner's Shop and they said they required an appointment as well. I told them it was an emergency since my oil change was well overdue and they were kind enough to squeeze me in, even though it was at the end of the day. I had a little trouble finding the place and had circled the building twice. I guess they saw me looking lost and someone jogged down the street to come get me. Curbside service!! :) They checked everything in the car and let me know I needed a new air filter as well and I needed to get a tire replaced. They topped off my coolant as well. Just wanted to give a shout out to an honest auto repair shop, Kevin and Conners repair shop in San Ramon. I took my car to Walnut Creek Ford because the air conditioner was not working. Ford charged me about $245 for the diagnostic and said the A/C compressor needed to be replaced for an additional $1940.00. I brought the car to Kevin and Conners, fully prepared to pay for a new compressor. They contacted me a short time after they opened and told me the compressor was not working due to a lack of refrigerant, which is something that should have been checked as part of the diagnostic process. When they checked the refrigerant, they immediately noticed both Schrader valves were leaking refrigerant. They replaced both valves and recharged the system for less than $350.00. I was appreciative of their honesty, and since they had just saved me hundreds of dollars, I asked if there was anything on the car they thought needed to be replaced, and if so, they could do it immediately. They said a full safety inspection was completed, and everything looked fine. This is how business should be done, with honesty and integrity. This is my new mechanic shop. read more

I had some work done at a different body shop in the area. After receiving my car back it was making an unusual whistling sound when driving at high speeds. I called the Shop and they took a look and tried to pin the issue on some repairs done many years ago. They made me feel like I was dum for even asking. After the frustrating experience, I called Kevin's shop to get another opinion. He took the time to drive with me in my car and diagnose the issue. It turned out to actually be related to the work the other shop did and there was a pretty obvious gap in one of the mirrors they had replaced.
