Have you ever had one of those moments, on a freezing cold day, running late for work and when you finally rush out the door to start your commute to work...you noticed your tire is flat or has lost most of its air!? If so, you know my pain. Go figure, the joys of having a high-end sports ride and low profile tires!! The winter season can be ruff on low-profile tires or any car with a set of rims on them. I had an issue with one stubborn tire where I kept losing air in the tire due to a damaged rim and the crazy temperature changes lately here in DC. I had two separate auto shops try to repair the issue...with no success until I stumbled on Sharper Image ARS. What a great find?! These guys came recommended to me right on time by Mac's Tire (another life saver) in DC. Mac's does not repair rims, hence why I needed a specialty tire/rim repair shop like Sharper Image ARS. These guys know their stuff. I called and made an appointment for the same day. The Manager, Shawn Gray, was able to easily assess the issue, repair/resurface the rim almost to a new one, and seal the tire on the rim correctly. He went above and beyond to make sure the problem was fixed. My wheel was restored back to the original performance and I was really pleased with his work. No more having the need to fill my tire with air every couple of days...sometimes 2-3 times a week due to this issue. It's been two weeks of freezing cold weather and I haven't had another air leak or issue with the tire/rim since going to Sharper Image ARS. Just in time for the snow and blizzard this weekend! 5 Stars easily!! I would highly recommend checking these guys out if you are having tire/rim issues. Services also include car detailing, tire/rim sales, minor mechanic and bodywork services too. They are very professional and run a good, honest shop. ONE SIDE NOTE....I see some folks complaining about the business location. Do not be discouraged by the location or the looks of the establishment. They are legit and are currently renovating while operating their business.

They ended up finishing in about 2.5 - 3 weeks. The work was good, although the color was different from the original, which was fine, because it looks really good. After two months and seven visits to Safelite, my windshield was still cracked because the vendor bought the wrong glass, damaged the new glass, didn't have the right equipment for the installation, didn't know how to extract the clips of the roof liner without breaking them, etc. One call to D G Glass, and the windshield was replaced one week later, no ifs and buts. I absolutely recommend this vendor if you drive a car with a windshield that is hard to replace. This is a vendor with an excellent reputation, who is well known by BMW dealerships in the DMV area for the high caliber of his craftmanship. Further, the service fees are fair, and the insurance covered the cost minus my deductible.

After they gave me the cost they gave me the number of this place and said they were good. I called and they had an aftermarket windshield and would come to my place in Alexandria and install it for $260 including tax. We scheduled an appointment a week later for a Thursday morning. Thursday morning came and I called them around 11 asking if they were going to come. They apologized and said they couldn't install it in the rain, but they were hoping it was going to go away before they would have to cancel. They asked if they could do it the next day. I said that I wouldn't be home, but I could leave the key in it. They asked that if it was still raining, could they drive it to a local dealership where they were doing work on another car and do it there? I said that was fine. The next day was raining. They got the car from my apartment complex, drove it to a dealership, installed the window, moved the inspection stickers and parked it back in the same place. They called me to let me know it was done. The office called a little later and got my credit card info and charged me the $260 that they quoted. All in all I think they are a good value and would recommend them to my friends.

I didn't hear from anyone there by 6/25/24 I called them and was told they were going to get to me but in the meantime go back in the system and change from repair to replace, mind you no one had seen my windshield but this lady from that company told me to have my insurance change to replaced. Well right there I feel something wasn't right but I figured she knew her job better than I. I called had it changed to replaced and dropped my car off 6/28/24 at 8:00am and returned at 1:00 pm to a new windshield. Once I paid my deductable and went to start my car it stated on the dash "Pre-Collision System Malfunction Visit your Dealer" I went back in establishment and stated to her what my car was saying. At that point the young lady stated "Oh we don't do Calibrations and I would have to take to dealer and my insurance would pay for it". When I asked her why she had not stated that to me so I could have scheduled an appt. with my dealer, or chosen a shop that did fix windshield and do calibrations she again stated oh the sign is right there didn't you read it?" Mind you the sign is an 8 x 11 piece of white paper on a door to the side of where the employee seats, something no one would look for along with two other pieces of paper, not laminated, not larger for older eyes, not visible. I was referred to them by Pohanka Honda, where we bought our new HRV, after the rear windshield was shattered last week. Not only could they see me a day before Safelite could, they also quoted me much less than even Safelite's in-shop price to replace the windshield! When I got there, they immediately took my car back to start working. They asked if I would be waiting, I said yes, and they warned me it could be "a couple of hours," which was what I expected. I settled down, signed into the guest WiFi (for which they are happy to give the password), and got ready to do a few work calls in the waiting room. However, only about 45 minutes after taking my car back, the (very kind, helpful) receptionist informed me that they were almost done with the car! Almost as soon as she said that, they drove the car back around to the front and asked me to come out: they showed me the tape that should stay on the rear windshield for 24 hours, but also showed me that they cleaned all the broken glass out of the rear hatch (we had avoided touching it in case of cuts/injury). Not only did they clean the whole area out, they organized it neatly down to refolding and stacking the towels.
