Expensive cars, expensive problems....even down to the rims & tires! Sharper Image ARS is a life saver! Have you ever had one of those moments, on a freezing cold day, running late for work and when you finally rush out the door to start your commute to work...you noticed your tire is flat or has lost most of its air!? If so, you know my pain. Go figure, the joys of having a high-end sports ride and low profile tires!! The winter season can be ruff on low-profile tires or any car with a set of rims on them. I had an issue with one stubborn tire where I kept losing air in the tire due to a damaged rim and the crazy temperature changes lately here in DC. I had two separate auto shops try to repair the issue...with no success until I stumbled on Sharper Image ARS. What a great find?! These guys came recommended to me right on time by Mac's Tire (another life saver) in DC. Mac's does not repair rims, hence why I needed a specialty tire/rim repair shop like Sharper Image ARS. These guys know their stuff. I called and made an appointment for the same day. The Manager, Shawn Gray, was able to easily assess the issue, repair/resurface the rim almost to a new one, and seal the tire on the rim correctly. He went above and beyond to make sure the problem was fixed. My wheel was restored back to the original performance and I was really pleased with his work. No more having the need to fill my tire with air every couple of days...sometimes 2-3 times a week due to this issue. It's been two weeks of freezing cold weather and I haven't had another air leak or issue with the tire/rim since going to Sharper Image ARS. Just in time for the snow and blizzard this weekend! 5 Stars easily!! I would highly recommend checking these guys out if you are having tire/rim issues. Services also include car detailing, tire/rim sales, minor mechanic and bodywork services too. They are very professional and run a good, honest shop. This place does good work. Brought in my 2015 K900 to have 3 rims repaired along with some curb rash removal. They explained that it would take 4 weeks due to the type of finish on my rims. They ended up finishing in about 2.5 - 3 weeks. The work was good, although the color was different from the original, which was fine, because it looks really good. There is nothing wrong the location as far as I can tell. My only suggestion would be for them to update the phone number on the business cards. Update: got another rim refinshed here. Letting my younger brother borrow my car was a seemingly cool thing to do, UNTIL he bought it home with a bent wheel that left my car wobbly and my back passenger side wheel looking as if it would fall off at any moment. After calling all around town, I was beginning to think that my only option would be to go to the dealership and pay an exorbitant amount of money...until I found this gem. I called and a friendly guy told me that they could actually repair the bent wheel for a price that was very fair. I dropped off my 2013 Dodge Avenger and they inspected my bent wheel and told me it would be cheaper to buy a new steel wheel and to bring it back to them and have them mount and balance and whatever else they do. I did just that and now my car is fixed and the wobbly feeling is non-existent. I have to say, it's pretty rare to find young, professional, and HONEST business men. This is the second year in a row that I gave my wife a car detailing for Mothers Day, and treated my own car, too. A great deal, because of the 2 car discount. The cleaning tech came on time, had very good manners and work ethics. I even asked for the same tech. He has all the equipment, only had to use our hose. I got some curb rash on one of my wheels. Took it in to be repaired and got a quote of about $200. Had to pay half at the time of dropoff and was told it would take up to 3-5 days but it could be done sooner and that someone would call once the repair was complete. After a week, I call several times and no one answers the phone. I decided to just go to the location to figure out what the status was. After waiting in the waiting room for 45 minutes someone comes out and asks if I could be helped. I told him what I was looking for and he proceeds to try to locate the wheel. After about 20 minutes he finds it and loads it into the car for me. Wheel looked good. It wasn't until I got home and had it next to the others that I realized the shade was slightly lighter. Hopefully, it won't be noticeable when I mount it. They could definitely have better customer service and follow up. read more

I pulled up and explained my issue. They explained my options. I left my wheel with them and went to my kid's soccer game. They called me and said it was ready however I could not get there . I had the misfortune of hitting a pothole last Saturday and bending my rim. I found this place online. Don't let the location fool you. It is off the beaten path; but they were ultra professional, very courteous and very timely. I dropped off on Monday and by Wednesday it was done. I had to purchase a tire and the technician asked me to bring the tire back so he could put on and make sure everything was ok with my car before I left. I appreciate the care and time taken to get my wheels back on the road. Would highly recommend. read more

This place was ok. Very sketchy. It's located on a no outlet street. Went in to get my bent rim fixed. Waited at the front desk for ten minutes and no one showed up so I walked in the garage since it was open. Spoke to Shawn who told me it would be $150 and take 2-3 days to fix. Called me back the next day to tell me it was ready. Weren't too pick it up 2 days later since I don't live in Waldorf. You could tell he was high. Tried to pay with my credit card but the machine wasn't working. Had to go get cash. Said he would email me an invoice that I never got. I didn't have to pay $500 for a new rim so I happy for that. read more

I dropped off a 2012 Sierra Denali to get one of the front rims straightened. It has 24" Asanti's on it and the driver's side was vibrating badly. Turns out it was bent. I had all new tire pressure sensors and new tires put on too. I wasn't in a hurry for it back, the truck isn't my daily driver but I dropped it off on Saturday and got it back Tuesday. When I picked it up it looked like it just came off the showroom floor. They had cleaned it inside and out and didn't charge me for it. These guys are busy and working hard and I highly recommend them if you have wheel, tire or detail needs. read more

Hit a pothole and crunched the wheels on the right side. Called around, found a place in VA that said they could fix my wheels, but I needed an appointment. Ok..that to me, automatically means big money...So I looked around some more and found SI/ARS. Dropped my car off and was told to call back in a few hours. So I called and was told the car was done, sure enough..couldn't even tell a repaired. Excellent work Great price. read more

I am very satisfied with the service I received from Sharper Image! I had a good sized dent in on of my 20" rims and it would have coat me $370 to replace. Sharper Image got it fixed for $150. They were efficient, and had it done in about 3 hours and Shawn was such a pleasant young man to work with. A+! read more

The staff is polite and friendly. The quality of their wheel refinishing / painting on my rims was not so good and a waste of money. They said they could match factory color but it was so different that I had to send the rims to another company to refinish them properly. The paint finish was so delicate that I could scrape it off with my finger nail. I was also surprised that they don't even have they're own tire mounting equipment and have to use Mr Tires down the road to do their mounting. read more

I had 4 20" Work wheels that I bought used for my BMW. They were damaged during shipping to me. Shawn was able to fix them up like new. He also replaced the TPMS sensors with new ones that I provided and remounted and balanced my tires. This wasn't the cheapest place that I found but it was definitely the closest to where I live. It took a little longer than expected, but it was definitely worth the money and the wait. I will definitely return for any kind of wheel repair/refinishing in the future. read more

at first the bird poop that had etched into my car looked like it had been removed. but now about two weeks later i see it again clear as day. i am very disappointed. i spent $50 two have two etched spots removed. and now here they are very visible. waste of money read more
