Great small Trinidadian cuisine located in hyde park,MA. The atmosphere is so inviting from the outside and the inside. It is a small place, with a homey touch to it. There's limited outside seating in the summer but as you can imagine, during the cold season, nobody really likes to sit outside lol. I was first introduced to this place last year by one of my Trini co-workers and got in contact with the owner to place a catering order for a work event. We ordered buss up shut, curry chicken, and chana and aloo. Everything came out so delicious and full of flavor. The team enjoyed the food and asked for another catering event and so I placed an order for the same dishes and the owner Allan, worked with our budget. Allan is very friendly and accommodating. Everything was done on time and when I arrived to pick up the order, Allan and his teams helped bring everything to my car. The chana and aloo and the buss up shot are vegan friendly :) I recommend this place! (10/10)

Amazing hospitality, cute ambience and some of the best vegetarian food I have ever eaten in boston. Such a cool cuisine to try, the chickpea roti was amazing homemade and flaky. The salsas were rich in spice and flavor. A hidden gem, I'll be telling my friends about.

    Doubles

Tried their doubles and it was very delicious and flavorful. I ordered them for lunch and hours later they still tasted fresh. Would order again 100%.

Outdoor seating at a Roti shop? Can't be!

I'm almost positive D Coal Pot is the only Roti shop in Boston with outdoor seating let alone any seating at all. Super friendly service too!

I have ate here so many times. (Probably like 4 days in a row when it has been bad) This is the first time reviewing this place. That's a shame. However they food is really good. Authentic Trinidad food. They have the typical offers during the week, Roti, doubles, lunch plates, bake and salt fish , beef patties. However now I come on Friday and/or Saturday. On Friday, I call for their Shrimp Buss up shot, it's my favorite thing they make hands down. They make their curry shrimp fresh, literally one time they took the uncooked shrimp from the fridge and since shrimp cook time is short they made it right then, it was some of the best shrimp I had anywhere. I get potato, chickpea, pumpkin and cabbage with the buss up shot. Saturday is their busiest day and a day when they cook up specials , shark and bake, curry duck, crab etc. Their doubles are really good and their rotis are solid. My recommendation however will be to get a buss up shot. And ask for their shrimp! Chicken is okay. Their beef is good. But shrimp is amazing

Don't let this little hole in wall fool you, this place packs a lot of flavor. Great food, nice owner and great location. First time here, I ordered the buss up shot. Second time around, I have the curry goat roti. Man!!!!!! Even better.

This is the spot to be for true Trini food if you are in the Boston area. The BBQ chicken, the garlic and pepper sauce was amazing.

A large is a meal and a half and the pricing is still reasonable for what you get. Some may debate me on the filling but the skins are not to be compared. I have been coming here for 30+ years and the skins have actually gotten a bit better, even though they were already great. New staffing had definitely improved the service. I can remember many years of having to get there by 6:00 if you wanted roti because they were on the last batch of boneless chicken and curried potatoes. In recent years they seem to have gotten better with managing portions and volume. The location is tough. I usually park on the side street just above them because the double parking mayhem of Blue Hill Avenue is not worth the stress. Few people ever dine in. There are a couple of booths but the business is almost entirely takeout. I do miss the Tremont Street/South End and Roslindale locations but I am so glad that Blue Hill Ali's is going strong!

It's a small, family-owned restaurant that's half Filipino and half Jamaican, run by a Filipino Tita and her Jamaican husband. She learned how to cook Jamaican food to remind him of home, which honestly makes the whole place feel even more meaningful. The Filipino dishes I tried were authentic and tasted homemade -- the kind of food that feels like it came straight out of your auntie's kitchen. The Jamaican food was also delicious (I can't personally vouch for authenticity there), but everything we had was flavorful and satisfying. It's a great, casual, order at the counter spot -- and it's right next to a Filipino market, which makes the experience even better. I love supporting small businesses, especially ones that represent my culture. Bright Light is the kind of place that deserves the love.
