I've been living in Indiana since 2014 and I LONG for the plain cheese pizza. My wife and I just had our first baby and my dad came out to visit. He brought me two large pizzas 11 hours in the car. It still tastes like it did the first time I ever tried it. Everything is blended together in such harmony. The dough recipe, the cheese blend, and the amazingly prepared sauce. Thank you pizza star for giving this first time dad another reason to cry happy tears this week! This pizza is not only delicious as fresh made or reheated, but cold from the fridge for breakfast. Let me set the record straight: this might be the best plain slice I've ever had. Ever. Ever! And I say that as someone who has lived in NYC for more than three decades, and who is therefore crazy-picky about slices. Also, the service we received was perfectly lovely, so not sure what everyone here is on about. Can't speak to the delivery situation, but don't care. Hot (and freakin' overdue!) take: pizza delivery is a travesty, and *never* a good way to actually enjoy a slice. That's not the fault of the restaurant; it's just a deal you're making with the devil that means your food will be about a quarter as good as it would be if you actually motivated yourself to get up off your couch like a grownup and eat it in person. They carry a full deli case of boars head meats and cold salads. I would come back and give their pizzas and sandwiches a shot, but for now, I was underwhelmed by the breakfast and would likely visit another local cafe or restaurant in the future. Many of them were not opened all the way (a sign that they might not be the freshest or recently passed) and had a bit of a fishy taste to them. We ended up not finishing them and flagged them to our waiter. The other items, including the 14oz Ribeye ($43) and baby back ribs ($28) were better, though a bit one-note. The bay back ribs in particular were extremely saucy and the corn bread was dry and a bit tough to eat. I had to use a knife to split it apart as it kept crumbling every time I used a fork. We were not disappointed. We were seated promptly by our lovely hostess, and Shaun immediately came over to recite specials and to take our orders. He was attentive and we knew we were in good hands! We started with the Dr. Fox Cocktail: Angostura bitters, Bulleit Rye, Apple Liqueur, Dry Curacao, and Sweet Vermouth, which was perfect. It was accompanied by a hummus trio to spread on the bread. There was also a delicious foccacio. Next we were served a perfect salad, delicately dressed, and what made the salad so delightful was that the lettuce was torn into manageable pieces. A pet peeve of mine is large lettuce leaves that are difficult to wrangle, and this was not the case here. There were also tiny bits of cauliflower that gave the salad a nice texture and crunch.  I had the Stuffed Artichoke and my husband had Shrimp Gamberi on an Arugula salad. Both were substantial and beautifully seasoned. We had two glasses of an Argentine Tomero Malbec. It was a generous pour. For the main course, I had Polla al Limone (Lemon Chicken) over spinach. A simple dish done well. My husband had the Halibut special, a classic Mediterranean baked halibut with tomatoes, capers, and olives. So good that he finished it all...a rarity for him. (The halibut was pricey and it would be appreciated if the price was mentioned when the specials were gone over. Perhaps we should have asked.) We finished with a Sorbetto al Lampone, a tart raspberry sorbet in a dark chocolate shell and sliced.  And as we left, our sweet hostess brought over Lucianno, the most adorable puppy, to send us off with puppy kisses! We definitely will be back...especially for the wild boar ragu over pappadelles. One nitpicking observation. The entrance to the restaurant was a tad shabby. We mistook it for the service entrance. It needs to be spruced up to match the superb food inside!
