It's beautiful, evocative of a linear Richard Serra installation. One friend wrote after seeing it: "Do you know what I am loving about this fence? I do not recommend D-Fence Builders or their affiliated company, Brown & Brown Fence Company. On a positive note, we had a good experience working with Darren, Lee, and team, and the new fence, gates, and enclosures that they installed look great. Unfortunately, we have had chronic issues opening and closing the 3 pedestrian gates that they installed. The first one became inoperable only a month after installation. I reached out to them at that time and they promptly came out to readjust it. Despite the quick fix, it would not open/close again a week after their visit. I let them know about this. At this point, they stopped responding to my e-mails and phone calls. A contractor had recommended D-Fence Builders to us and after I told the contractor about the broken gate and lack of response, Darren agreed to complete a more meaningful repair with a new post. That larger repair lasted about a week before the gate again would not latch. Since that time, all 3 pedestrian gate doors that they installed do not open and close properly. In each case, the door is not straight between the 2 posts and/or the posts are not plumb. We paid this company over $10,000 (and they were not the lowest bid received), but the prior pedestrian gate that my father-in-law built worked better than the new ones from this professional job. I let Darren know that all 3 gates are not working, and as before, have not received a response. The non-latching gates have not only been frustrating from a functionality standpoint, but have also been a safety hazard because they lead to a pool. We will have to hire another company to complete the needed repairs and make the gates work as they should. read more

The fence looks good and the people were nice, that's why they get the 3 stars. The others stars are for communication and other housekeeping issues. Darren was really nice and so were his workers but time seemed to be split up between other jobs and half way through the day the fence was not being done. The fence took longer than expected. As for housekeeping, several sprinklers were broken with no notification to me and a pool pipe was broken with no notification. Posts were not cut flush to the ground leaving me to cut them to safety. Trash was left around the yard (though cleaned at the end of the job) that I would have liked cleaned daily. Smoking in the yard also bothered me but after speaking to Darren, he did address it with his people. All in all, I do like the end result but the price, time and other issues make it a little difficult to recommend read more

Cody came out and met with my wife and I for a consultation during which he spent an hour answering all our questions, taking the relevant measurements, showing us different pictures of fences they could build -- and was very, very patient and professional throughout. We had consultations and got quotes from two other fence/gate contractors, but D-Fence -- in particular Darren and Cody -- worked with us and outbid the other contractors by a lot; their quote was very reasonable and they stayed within budget. The job took about three days and Juan and his assistant were very nice, and extremely efficient and competent during the construction, answering all our questions during the process and consulting us when design issues came up; Cody came by a few times to make sure everything was progressing smoothly during the construction as well. In the end, D-Fence built us a beautiful fence for our front yard with a swing gate, and also, a privacy gate, too. We are thrilled with the results and ecstatic that all of our neighbors keep congratulating us on such a beautiful addition to our house. They were hired by my neighbor (joint property fence), and the cost was split between the neighbor and my landlord. They were only supposed to used the neighbor's electricity, but used mine and subsequently blew half the fuses in my house, and at the very time I was getting ready for work. At the completion of the two day install, they left trash (food wrappers, soda cans and chunks of concrete from the old fence posts). They over poured the concrete for the new posts, subsequently damaging the area for plant, foliage, grass growth. And they literally just dumped excess dug up dirt in piles, at four different locations in my front and back yards. I was going to let all this just go by the wayside and not post a review, however, ONLY TWO WEEKS LATER.... The fence is already showing damage. The redwood is fraying/splintering on the ends of several planks and the top beam. ADDITIONALLY, several of the planks are already starting to buckle on both sides of the fence. What has happened to the old mindset of "pride in workmanship"?! I highly recommend NOT HIRING this company! I'm just glad it was my landlord paying for half of the installation and not me, otherwise I would be suing them in small claims court! read more

Competitive pricing, knocked the job out in two days, came when they said they would come....all of these you would expect......but no, they actually took great care removing the old fence and installing the new fence and didn't step on any flowers or plants that were located next to the fence line. We had D-Fence Builders install our new new gates. My rating of one star is because their customer service is horrible. Gates were to be installed on September 6th 2018. On 9-04-18 at 11am two days before I called to make sure we were still on schedule no answer knowing the office closed at 3:30 I then sent an email @3pm. It was not till the next afternoon that I receive an email that the frame is still with the iron guy. (Don't you think if frame is still with iron guy They should have CALLED me) But they would call me the next day to reschedule. Did I hear from them NO. I made two more calls. Finally the day after the gates were to be installed I received a call telling me they would make the frame in house over the weekend and install on 9-11-18. Gates were installed with a few more problems. I called, Sent e-mail with pictures. Was told someone would be out by the end of the week to correct the problem. Darren was very helpful with what we wanted- but I think a bit more explanation about certain aspects of fencing and gates and hardware would be good. It all may seem second nature to those in the business, but the customer is a "fence novice" and may need some clarity. We went with a very modern fence look and had to adjust as certain things done made it look "un-modern" I would highly suggest inspecting the work as it is being completed- just to make sure you are on the same page. A month after, I had an issue with some bowing on an end cap and another issue. Darren had his crew come out and remedied the issue.
