I had a very poor experience with Lenz. They were recommended to me by my main mechanic, who I've always trusted. I was shocked to say the least. Had a terrible experience straight from the start. I've been having issues with my electrical system, as I would receive numerous dash warnings and all of my gauges would fail. Since this is an issue with my car's computer, the code has been automatically clearing itself, basically making it nonexistent. It's a pretty tricky problem that needed a lot of explanation on my part. I tried to list the symptoms and what previous mechanics had done, but I was barely able to get two words out when I was cut off and asked very rudely, "If I were to go out to your car right now, what would it be doing?" My answer was "nothing, as the code cleared itself." All he heard was "code" and said, "Okay, so you've got a check engine light." I tried to explain that it's more than just a check engine light, but I received more attitude and was unable to give further detail. Since they didn't know what they were looking for, they didn't know what to fix. They told me they reset my cruise control's breaker, as that was the problem, and that my code was cleared. As I drove my car off the lot, I had the same exact problem I've been having for months, and low-and-behold the check engine light was STILL THERE. I spent $150 to be ignored and treated disrespectfully. The car also stank of cigarettes, and there were flakes of ash in both the driver's and passenger seat. TLDR: Spent $150 to have my issue not get fixed, alongside terrible customer service. Awful experience, I felt very uncomfortable, can't recommend. This place is very unprofessiona! They had my car for 2-3 months and never fixed my issue! I paid them left in my car got .8 miles away for my car to stop working. Called them and they say they fixed the issue clearly they are lying had another mechanic look at it and he says it's an electrical issue. I just spent my money with them and was told to bring it back they would fix it so I did and they didn't even touch my car. They wanted me to pay for a part that was supposedly already was put in my car! One of the mechanics told my wife to shut the fuck up and the owner is nasty also! I would look elsewhere for someone to look at your car cause they don't know what they are doing up there and are extremely unprofessional and will take your money! Brought him my vehicle thinking he had good google reviews and was a real auto electrical repair shop but I was wrong! He and his employee was rude and ignorant, making faces and yelling at me for pulling in "wrong" for my appointment, (wrote it off as cranky) then telling me I would have to leave it for the weekend. I said I couldn't be without that long and agreed to bring it back next tuesday. Tuesday morning, I was there first thing with the list of low voltage failure codes, voltage and amperage readings and list of items that were failing periodically. I explained that this vehicle had these issues repeatedly since i bought it, they had analyzed the battery, and replaced the battery several times. I was ready to pay almost anything to have the problem finally resolved. Sitting there waiting for my ride, his employee starts on the car (not sure what was communicated to him) and turns to me before doing anything and proceeds to tell me it's the battery as he is connecting his test meter. I show him I have a meter installed on it to see real time and the voltage is 12.3 with a .8 amp draw. He does his thing then puts a charger on it anyway and goes to work on other cars, meanwhile my ride comes to pick me up. I get a call later that day, surprise surprise, they say that it needs a battery, mine is 3 years old (its how long I owned vehicle, had battery replaced, analyzed, etc and continue to have problems since i bought it), and proceed to tell me they don't do any of the other repairs or investigation to identify the "other" intermittent issues that are discharging the battery. That they saw no draw on the battery, that based on the calendar, 3 years, I need to replace the battery. I arrive the next day to pick up my car, I pay them, and go to the car to find the voltage is 12.3 with a .8 amp draw, just as when I dropped it off. I told them the amperage draw fluctuates, sometimes double digit but ironically it was the same as when I dropped it. It seems they just wanted to get the $100 diagnostic fee for putting a voltmeter on my car. What a dishonest racket! Looks like they might be good (unconfirmed) actual bad battery, starter, and alternator changers but don't bring him a complex problem like mine. I left my son's car and they did nothing! except charge me $145 for doing work (that was not even asked for) and after they ignored it when I told them how important it was to having it done in a timely manor. I dropped it off on Wednesday, they said they fixed it, picked it up- it wasn't fixed. dropped it off again after paying the bill. came by to pick up on Friday, still not fixed! Driving my son around the county for everything on his schedule wouldn't be so bad if people would just do the work and fix the things that have been agreed upon. these people take money from hard working people who don't have the monies to lose!they will steal money from people without the proper exchange of goods and/or services! And they do it everyday all the time! please look for places outside this area (Sanford area or further south) for car electric! nothing is worth the hassle and underhandedness! these people have no business morals. read more

Update 05/06/2022 I took my car to have the dashboard put on after lenz broke all up. By the wires hanging all out etc. After the dashboard was put on Now my car won't start. I called the shop to explain whats happening, the mom answered I was as nice as possible. Again she yelled told me " You made your bed now lay in it" then she hung up on me. I will be taking them to court. Not to mention weeks before this date 05/06/2022 I sent my son to their shop to pay them for putting on my cluster the daughter told my son "If she takes down the review I will take the money" I told my son to give her the phone. We talked but she was raising her voice talking about the day the police came etc. Long story short, the daughter refused the 100 and forty something dollars down. I will also be contacting the bbb. Let me first start by saying I was respectful that whole time. I went to have multiple things fixed on my 03 Impala. Day one the daughter seemed really cool. The mother is very very rude, has no respect for her customers. My dashboard had cracks through it, the agreement between the daughter and me was that if my dashboard were to break completely then they would put the new one I bought one. But if the dashboard didn't break break then it goes back on how it was. The daughter and the mother both yelled at me getting all hyped saying DON'T TELL ME WHAT I SAID, I KNOW WHAT I TOLD YOU! I had to call the cops on them because the mother stood in front of my car as though I was trying to take off without paying them. My problem was that they broke broke my dashboard and refused to put the one I had one. The daughter lied saying they don't do dashboards. The mother said to pay them to put the dashboard on. Too much drama for me. The police told the mother she could get arrested by trying to keep my car. The daughter yelled out to put a trespassing out on me. The mother agreed.... Like they went through all of this all because they broke broke my dashboard and didn't want to put another I brought back on. I had no choice but to call the cops on them. Mother in front of my car with the police. They wanted me to pay for incomplete service. I do not recommend dealing with these people they act racist mostly the mother. My car was there for two weeks the very first time. I call up there the mom answered the phone, I asked if my car was ready she yelled at me "DO YOU HAVE OUR MONEY" I was very confused because if I didn't have the money why would i have y'all fixing on my car?. Second time the mother got slick with me and she yelled WELL IF IT'S SO EASY WHY DON'T YOU PUT IT ON YOURSELF" That lady is mean, rude, and disrespectful. No morals, no care, not professional at at all. The cop continued telling the mother to stop yelling the cop himself was shocked on her behavior. But there was a trespass put on me because they were angry the cops took my side. But I wouldn't go back to this place to save my life if there wasn't a pass on me. Smh people do dumb shhhhhh..... I have money I don't rip people off I stood there telling them I had the money but I will not pay for an incomplete job. Yes my dashboard had a crack in it but if they felt like the dashboard will break by pulling it apart and if they wasn't going to fix what they broke completely then why take the dashboard apart??? The mother said pay to have the dashboard put on. The daughter says they don't do dashboard at all. So which one is it? How do you take a dashboard off but don't put it back on? I brought my truck in to have the headlight repaired. They removed the grill to access the headlight which is completely unnecessary. Upon removing the headlight they broke the plastic clip that holds the back of the headlight in place which would explain why the headlight was loose when I got my truck back. They also installed the bulb incorrectly causing it to point straight down at the ground. I had asked them to replace the bulb on the passenger side which they didn't even do. On top of all that they scratched my truck in several places around they headlight. When I called them to see what they were willing to do to make this right. I was told to leave them a bad review and they would just counter my review saying I'm a wanna be mechanic. I'm not a mechanic by trade and in my opinion neither are they. This establishment has no sense of urgency. Brought my car in on a Tuesday to have a diagnosis done. Was told I would get a call with a diagnosis the following day. No update was given Wednesday OR Thursday. I called Friday morning to see if I can find out a diagnosis yet as it had been there for 3 days. They preceded to tell me that if they are not quick enough for me, that I can come pick my car up. 3 days at the shop without even a diagnosis yet is extremely unacceptable. This is absolutely the most unprofessional company I've ever done business with in my 50 + years. When I pulled in there was hardly any place to pull my car into and an extremely rude disrespectful to "women" pulls his head out from under the hood and starts screaming for us to move our car. Keep in mind, this was our fist time visiting and there's no sign anywhere saying no parking. The reason I say he was disrespectful to women is he was cussing the lady at the front desk on the phone and when I got there. At this point I knew my alternator was bad and I had to leave it with them to my disappointment. They installed a new alternator after telling me it was good and then calling my back and saying it was bad and come pick car up. Needless to say with in a few days later It was doing the same thing as it was previously and the alternator wasn't charging the battery again. I called and described what car was doing and informed her they'd just installed alternator a few days ago and the lady at the front desk told me if I couldn't tell her in complete detail what the car was doing than just forget it. Based on the atmosphere I would assume they get a lot of returns on their rebuilt alternators that I was told would be a new OEM in my original conversation with them. When the owners daughter yells at you in the lobby claiming no responsibility for the issues they cause, that's when you know this place has seen it's end. For some reason they went through my steering column to access my ac fan blower (videos online all show going through the glove box). I assume this shop is relying on young inexperienced guys and that's what I ended up getting screwed with. My car will never be the same now (bad shaking in the steering column that they refuse to look at because it "takes too long") and all they want to do is yell that it's a coincidence and not their responsibility. These guys are experts in electronics. I had to wait a couple of days because they are very busy but they are worth the wait. Most repair shops would tell me to take it to a Subaru dealer to have it fixed but D Lenz Auto Electric was able to fix it at a very good price. I am very happy and I would highly recommend them. They work on vintage cars as well as new. I had D Lenz Auto Electric work on an old truck a long time ago and it was a mess when I brought it in. They fixed it for a good price and I never had a problem sense. read more

This place and the owner is a CROOK! I towed my vehicle in for a diagnostic no starting issue. They told me an hour later it needed a fuel pump. I paid them for diagnostic fee then towed it to "walts automotive" they installed a NEW fuel pump and it still would not start, they then diagnosed it as a bad computer. They installed a computer and it cranked right up. I paid them $1400 for everything and they said i need to go back to doug lenz for a refund on mis-diagnosis. With receipts and proof in hand i do that and they told me to get out of here. "keep in mind this is over $90.00" I then call the owners wife "BETTY" and she started cussing then hung up on me twice!! How on earth this shop is still in business and people go to them i dont know but after reading all the other reviews here and other sites i see this place has gone down hill! Bought an alternator from this shop to support local businesses. It came with a 1 year warranty, and failed before the year was up. I went back and they replaced it with no problem. 15 months later, and same problem again, charge light is on. I went back yesterday and the owner was mumbling to himself when I arrived. I explained what was going on, he walked around, and asked me again what the problem is? Really, I just told you 1 minite ago. He tested the alternaror, no volts at idle until you increase the rpm's. He said to leave it with him to test, and to check something with my idle. If it's the alternator, he will have to charge me. I asked if it's normal to go through 2 alternators in 2 years? No answer, he just asked if I have my car serviced? Huh, really? I said no thanks and I won't be back. read more

I have a classic 1963 1/2 all original Mercury. I have had Doug Lenz rebuild my starter three other times over the years this recent I'm being my fourth one. Always my fault never is his fault. My high compression eventually is to much but I I've always wanted to keep the original one from Factory on the car. This time was just like any other the starter broke the gears off and was free spinning, so I removed it and I took it to his shop to get rebuilt but I had company from out of town so I needed the car to run quickly so I called Advance Auto Parts an the starter they have worked and fit except for the gear that engages to the flywheel was shorter version then mine so it sounded as if it free spun just like the other one that just shattered the teeth off of it so I remove it and returned it. Doug called saying mine was ready so I go pick my original one up and Jack the car up and put the starter on ( mind you I have a terminal disease called cystic fibrosis and I am very weak so that was an extreme amount of work just for myself and having to do that multiple times) well I went to crank the engine and the starter free spun yet again so knowing that Doug is an expert and has also done my starter now 4 times , I figured it probably wasn't the starter anymore that maybe my engine was locked up and it wasn't able to spin the flywheel or something but I did all i could do at home so I had the car towed to the shop that specializes in my classic car that I trust (mind you it's a one-of-a-kind 63 1/2 Mercury Marauder two-door Fastback all original everything) the shop calls and says your starter is no good I said that's not possible I just had Doug rebuild it he said it does not work I have to take it off you need to buy another I asked could I take the starter to Doug and have him fix it and you guys put it back on they said no we can't hold on to your car you have to buy a starter from us we will install it and if you want your old one back we will give it to you you just pay the core. So $580 later the car started just fine they told me that the guy installed too short of a gear on the tip of my starter ... we went directly to Doug's shop where we was greeted by one rude rude woman I have to call her a f****** b****. Doug if that's your wife, f*** her.. my wife went in there explained the whole situation on how you guys made a mistake and you yelled at my wife you called her dumb and made her cry by herself coming home to me telling me while she's crying when you guys were in the wrong you made a mistake and I trusted your expertise to make sure that starter was right so no I did not bring it back to you I thought you did your f****** job but instead you shoved my starter across the counter towards my wife and your woman told my self and my family not to EVER come back for some reason when I have literally spent over five k with you in two or three years. I'm a member of the multiple car groups and a member of a major one, I run the f****** Turkey Run! at the stadium I will guarantee I drag your name through the mud if you do not call me out and reimburse my f****** money because you made a mistake, you did! not me I trusted that you did your job right so I took it to a shop thinking there's a problem with my car. I took a vehicle there as all he did was a simple diagnosis . the same thing autozone does for free . the vehicle is no different. except 110$ out of pocket . I asked him to check electronics for a short.He did not do it.his excuse was he did not write that down.2 years ago he told me to go buy a part called a gem module . I did 450$ my truck still didn't hv 4x4 .he told me that was the problem .I don't know why I took him another vehicle . I guess I like giving away money for nothing . I hope I'm the only one.
