My husband and I ordered, and being from out of town, hit the interstate quickly- then upon looking at our receipt, noticed we were charged double for our order. I called back, and the lady told me all she could do was refund the full amount, but she said that wouldn't be fair to refund me the full amount- so I had to eat the cost. Fair?! It wasn't fair that I got charged for another burrito I didn't order. I'm so disappointed, because they should definitely have done the right thing and refunded me the full amount anyway, since this was their fault, and I was wrongfully charged twice the price. Kind of disappointed. We have seen D'Leon's locations and advertising through the years, but for one reason or another we never tried their menu until last week. The 48th & Van Dorn restaurant is close to our new home so we sampled the Taco Tuesday Special. We are sorry to say that the tacos were rather small and not all that tasty, in fact they were off-tasting. We added a couple of sauces (mild and spicy) but they did not help at all, one of which just made them too hot to savor. We will likely give it another go with different fare before thinking of writing them off. read more

Have supported D'Leons since the very beginning. Authentic tortillas, great options, and reasonably priced even after increases. Lower your expectations and this place will totally exceed them. Their Carne Asada Torta is pretty dang good. Put the green salsa on it. Crazy fries are awesome as well. It's Mexican street food in a drive through shed in the parking lot of a trailer park by the interstate ramp, so service and cleanliness aren't exactly top notch. Gross. I just can't stomach this place. I've tried it a few times, because people insisted it was good fast, mexican food. All 3 times were awful, and made my stomach feel awful. I heard about the breakfast burrito and how amazing it was. I had about half of it and couldn't finish it. The tortilla seemed like it was marinated in lard, and the insides were seeped in grease. D'leon's just opened a new store at around 13th and South St (my neck of the woods), so the husband and I decided to give it a try last week... I would have to second the previous reviewer's comments: if I could give a "0" star, I would. It was absolutely awful. We both ordered beef taco and chicken enchilada meals- we got one meal... that had a chicken taco and a cheese enchilada. Okay, so they got our orders wrong... I can roll with the punches - until I tasted it. :( The chicken taco meat was flavorless and gray, the taco shell was greasy and burned. I tried the cheese enchilada that had no decipherable flavor other than salt - and lots of it. I am not exactly a finicky eater - and above all things I am cheap. So, to tell you that I actually, physically, could not eat this meal, so much that I threw it away and went to another restaurant for dinner... that should communicate something. It was absolutely awful - I will not be going again, and I would not (under any circumstances) recommend this place to anyone. Bleck! read more

This dirty little Mexican food place has so much potential. It even has the trailer park style eating area outside, which is usually the sign of great food! But alas, the breakfast burrito failed to wow me...It made us full but the calorie intake was not worth it considering how bland it was. Had it been OK to order carne asada fries at 10 AM, I probably would have. Instead, I'll have to wait for my pile of meaty goodness on top of a bed of french fries when I go to SD this weekend. I think this might be the sort of place where things are good if you know how to order them because our cab driver from the night before went on and on about how great the food was. This place always looks like it is going to burst into flame at any moment!!! However they have some of the best, most authentic food I have had!! It is served with a whole lot of the L word and I'm not talking love I'm talking lard! The burritos are second to none and you get a TON of food!!! Rice is ok. Refried beans are authentic and really good!! Rolled tacos with guacamole is great! Fish tacos are great and super authentic served with cabbage and lime!!! This is the place to go for authentic food! You just have to ignore the decor (fire hazard) and the wonky drive thru. D'Leon's Mexican Food Restaurants have become a guilty pleasure since moving to Nebraska. With many locations open 24 hours, D'Leon's is not only convenient but delicious. When I heard they were opening a new location in the former "Taco Bueno" location I was excited to have a D'Leon's in such close proximity to work and downtown. As the place is still in their initial stages of operations (pre-Grand Opening) the menu is continuing to grow and I'm sure will become equal to the menus currently offered at other D'Leon's locations. I stopped in on a Monday night late to check them out. I decided to order a couple of shrimp burritos with a side of fries cause I like to smother them in the pickled jalapenos and carrots. (Booyah!) I basically built my own version of the shrimp burrito from the ground up which the counter person was happy to do. As I waited for my order I liked the fact I could watch them prepare everything - FAST. It should be noted that at the time of writing the location is not very crowded at all so even a larger order will get prepared really fast! I like that they have a condiment counter so you can grab some extra goodies like pickled jalapenos with carrots, salsas, etc. as I mentioned earlier. Food was delicious as I've come to expect from D'Leon's. I am looking forward to frequenting them more often as a late night "quick bite" because I will enjoy having an alternative to Jimmy John's and Lazzari's Pizza. Also, they have a cool deal where you get 5 Tacos (beef or chicken) for $5. Not too shabby. I gave them 4 Stars simply for the fact that they are so "new" that their menu isn't complete and that I have only frequented them once. The biggest problem with D'leon's is inconsistency. One day you will go there and it will be amazing. Then you'll go a couple days later and it will suck. So if you can catch it on the right day you will get some food. Every couple months I will go have a breakfast burrito. The Lincoln is my fav. And their hot sauce is pretty dang good. Yes, it's hot, hot sauce is supposed to be. I usually go through the drive thru, so I can't really speak to their cleanliness, in the dining room, but I have seen a couple things that made me question whether I should eat what they gave me. There are locations I WILL NOT go to. The one at 48th and R is dirty and the one 27th and Randolph is a little questionable at times. The two locations I trust the most that I have been to are 27th & Orchard and the original on West O. I'll start off by saying that this was very much a regular stop during my college days. Most twenty-something Lincolnites can probably relate to that in some capacity. After college, I grew up. My taste buds also grew up. It's as if the place where I had spent the last five years of my life suddenly wasn't all I thought it once was. The food here is good. Good. Not great. Not terrible, unless your order gets mixed up, which usually happens roughly a quarter of the time. Portions are decent, although portion sizes have decreased noticeably in the past few years. It's not a bad deal in the value department, but there are other places that give you more bang for your buck, so-to-speak. Taqueria El Rey for example. All of the food itself is edible, though the quality of some ingredients may be drawn into question. Stick to the burritos and burrito combination plates. Furthermore, a word of friendly advice to the college brethren, the bean (pinto) burrito is, in my humble opinion, the best choice after a night of heavy "leisure". It all has to do with electrolyte regulation. D Leon's will always have a special place in my heart. It is undoubtedly a staple of the Lincoln, Nebraska college experience. I keep trying to go here to get an order that I know I love and only 1 in 10 tries have they gotten my order right. I always order the Spanish omelet breakfast with sour cream and guacamole. I have given up on trying to ask for no onions, once in a while I get lucky and they don't drown it in them....not again today. Not only is it nothing but inions again, but once again I get charged for the extra condiments of sour cream and guacamole and don't receive them. I will live with an order that I don't have to pay for time and again and not get the condiments I ordered, but honestly have been there 10 times, confirm multiple times that I was the extra condiments at the window after stating them at the speaker and STILL do not get them but am still charged for them. I am always on my way to work with cars behind me so it isn't like you can sit there and open up everything to see if it's there. I used to make a point of hitting D'Leon's each and every time I visited Lincoln, back when they had only the one location out on West O. I was completely enamored with the quality and authenticity this little dive churned out-- it was like they were living their own little piece of the American Dream steps away from the trailer park. I go to the Dee-Leon's (as my buddy calls it) on 27th street. The food is great. Pretty much a twin of Alvarado's in Omaha, one of my favorite restaurants there. They are a great alternative to the run of the mill fast food 'mexican' you get at places like Taco Bell, but the price reflects the quality. I ate there four or five times, loving my chicken enchiladas, until I got an order that was full of little bone shards. I gave it a month, and managed to go back again, and found they had the same issue. The 'hot' sauce doesn't have much of a taste, it just burns. With places like El Rancho and El Comal, you have much better options when it comes to tasty mexican, you'll just have to deal with not having a drive through. We have only been to the D'leon's on N 27th. My husband loves the lincoln burrito for breakfast or lunch. I like the beef burrito even for breakfast. The burrito's are large and filling. My beef burrito always has a good amount of beef in it. The burrito's are made to order, so it takes a little while depending on how many are ahead of you. For lunch sometimes we will order a meal that comes with 2 buritos, rice and beans and then split it between my husband and myself. read more

I love this dirty little mexican joint. In fact, their kitchen is clean, but they use old buildings instead of driving up their prices to build some new building. i think it is smart of our Nebraska Mexican friends. I get the Machaca plate and my wife gets chicken enchiladas. I get four meals out of it. So much food for 7 dollars.
