I had an appt scheduled here for my birthday. Booked 2 weeks in advance and placed a deposit as they are mandatory. The owner texted me the DAY BEFORE the appt asking if I could push my appt back by 3 HOURS because the person before me needed an "elaborate design" done. When I told her I couldn't push back bc this was before my birthday dinner, she told me she was keeping my security deposit because 48 hour notice is needed to cancel -- despite HER being the one to try to change my appt time by 3 hours the DAY BEFORE. In her response to me, she said the nastiest things including that this isn't "a Chinese Shop" and that she's an "American" and can change ppls appointments whenever she wishes.. despite taking mandatory non-refundable deposits. I assume she was trying to imply that he nail lady's at Chinese owned salons aren't Americans which is an extremely problematic and borderline racist comment to make in itself. I went to D' Luna Salon to get a refill on my acrylic and I am completely satisfied with the end product. I'm new to the acrylic world but I know my previous set cost me $60 for a full set! When they finished with me the technician told me her credit card machine was broken and I needed to go to the ATM, I asked her how much and she said $105! ‍ I wished i asked before i started because $105 is absolutely ridiculous for a refill with 3 designs! I paid her because I really don't see NY jail for me! I asked for a receipt and she said they don't give receipts in NY! I started hearing about this nail salon again and wanted to warn everyone to STAY AWAY. I went here a couple of years ago when they were in amityville still and I had googled Russian manicures near me, saw their work and decided to book an appt. At the time the deposit was $25 and went towards the final price of the nails, me being 18 years old thought nothing of it and sent her the $25. I get to the shop ON TIME for my appt and walk inside, there wasn't a single person in the "salon" and the lights were off which was just some rented room. I text Christie who I booked with and she tells me she's going to be about 30 minutes late, I had nothing much to do that day so I didn't really mind waiting and didn't say a word about it. After finally showing up and getting started on my nails she asks me what length and shape I want, I tell her long and square, she then informs me it's $20 for the shape and another $20 for the length, I told her to keep them shorter to avoid the cost, I told her I'd like to do a simple French manicure after she informed me of the ridiculous add on prices for any design or color... to make a long story short a simple short French acrylic manicure cost me $125 dollars! Me being 18 at the time paid her and was left completely mortified at the experience as a whole I couldn't believe I actually even paid her. This place is no where near Amityville. It's in Huntington at someone's dirty home. There's basically 2 ppl working. 1 who cleans your nails and cuticles and the other paints the nails. Don't ask for a combo; you will be in there for 5 hours. Oh; they ask for a Zelle deposit which is non-refundable when you tell them you can not wait 5 hrs for a Russian mani and pedi. Came in with a horrible set of nails from of a previous salon only a week old. Found this salon from Instagram and made an appointment to hopefully fix the horror show job on my nails - drove 45 min to the salon and ended up waiting 40 min for the tech to come in. By then I was tired of waiting but stayed because I had already invested time driving there and waiting. It was worth the wait - Chrystie completely transformed the mess the last salon left me with on my nails. She's a perfectionist so expect to be in her chair for over an hour for a new set of nails. Mine are sculpted (no tips just acrylic basically painted into a nail) I sat in her chair for almost 2.5 hours. She's awesome and her work is impeccable - attention to detail is A1 unfortunately the price (100+) was kinda high but I'll say this - I'm Hispanic and there's no way in hell that they are selective of race when charging their prices. So to the guy that said they target young black women with high prices, stop race baiting. I got hit with a high price and I'm Hispanic. To the white woman who reviewed, IM HISPANIC I paid over 100 for a full set - they don't play race favorites here and the work is amazing so pay for it. The owner is intent on giving her customers quality and first class products and I really appreciate it. My husband would laugh at me because initially I would fuss at the price and he else ask why do you still ho back and I would say , " It is worth every dime" But, the biggest reason why I literally pulled over and stopped my life to write this is because I want to let you know about the impeccable customer service of this salon. After reading a few decent reviews (which i'm convinced are fake from family members and friends) and several bad ones i decided to give them the benefit of a doubt and proceed anyway. I'll start off with saying this. If you're looking for quality nails, and technicians that pay close attention to detail, this salon is the one for you. However, the cons greatly weighed out the pros for me on my first and last visit. I had scheduled an appointment for a full set at 5pm. My appointment did start at 5pm on the dot. Everything was going smoothly with the application of the nails and so forth. However, the technician doing my nails spent an unnecessary time on her phone. From taking breaks in between doing my nails, texting and going on twitter/Instagram to show each other posts. At one point she went into the back room for 3 minutes on her phone and I sat there waiting for her to come back. Throughout the whole process her and the technician sitting next to her conversed, stopped their process to show each other text messages and Snapchat videos and twitter posts. At a point the technician took a good 5 minute break in front of me while on her phone. With no regard for me or my time. As far as my nail work goes, I will say I am satisfied with the work. Only thing I will say is that on my thumb and pinky finger on one hand she cut the cuticles so low to the point they were bleeding. She used four, yes four, DRILL tools for my cuticle. I've been constantly cleansing and applying neosporin to my cuticles to ensure that I won't get an infection. Not only this, but up close the polish on some of my nails have air bubbles, which I'm sure is due to the fact that she was rushing because the salon was closing as I was the last customer in there. I say all of this to say that a full set of a pretty basic design took 4 hours to complete. Yes, four hours. I got there at 4:50pm and did not exit the salon until 9:10pm. For a $139 nail job not including tip, plus a $5 service fee if you use a credit/debit card, this salon is most definitely not worth it when all of that is combined. Do not come to this place!!! I'll begin with this salon works by appointment only but only on their terms. I was able to schedule an appointment when they posted on IG they had a cancellation but I was called 2 times in the morning to be rushed in because they had another cancellation. When I walked in I was told "oh I thought you were coming early" which I did come 1 hour earlier but I guess it wasn't what they wanted. My nails took a total of 5 1/2 hours. During this process I bled from two fingers because my cuticles were hurt but I let it slide. The main nail tech -Christie, had another client waiting at least 3 hours to be seen while she went out to run errands and then took another client before her. I thought wow that's horrible but minded my own business. Vanessa did a good job on the nail extension itself but 5 hours was excessive. I was charged $250 dollars before tip for my nails which I thought was outrageous but I thought the work would be good and last me a few weeks as Vanessa had mentioned. Keep in mind I told her clearly I did not want to spend over $200 dollars. 3 days later both my thumbs start to peel at the end which I went back to have them buffed out and painted with another top coat. I went back because it wasn't even my birthday yet and I knew it was going peel off completely. I tipped her for her effort in trying to fix the mistake. Two days later - mind you it hasn't been a week yet- I go back because again my thumbs are peeling. This time the main tech notices and says wow again? But it wasn't even 5 days. Might I add, my pointer finger was starting to peel but I only had my thumbs fixed again since they said it happened because I did not put them in correctly in the UV light. I've been doing my nails for 15 years and this has never happened to me but ok. Come Monday ( a week and two days) all of my hand painted design nails were peeling. So I reach out to Christie now and ask her how is this possible and she tells me to come in because "she has no idea of what's going on" I couldn't only come Friday so she tells me to come around 7 but I got there 630. She has me waiting 2 hours while she finished someone else's nails, took a break, took pictures, walked around and offered drinks. When I started to fall asleep because 2 hours after work is draining, I decided to leave and as I'm walking out she said I'm almost done and I said no thank you and left. I contacted her to tell how how rude and unprofessional I was treated and she said oh I told you to stay but you left so there's nothing I can do. She then says come back if you want me to fix it. Somehow my dumb ass was even contemplating it but I had not time to go during the weekend. I message her today and tell her they are all now almost completely peeled and buffing and putting a top coat is impossible to which she says someone else is on her IG account meanwhile she's posting lunch pics (as noted by everyone else's reviews she's always on her phone). Then I receive a message saying I spoke to the owner and you can come in to have a new design done for you but you will be charged. So I pay $257 + tip and tip twice for each repair I actually had done and came in a 3rd time and wait for two hours for nothing and now you want to charge me? This place is unprofessional and appalling. It's two technicians overcharging for nails that won't even last. They claim to do Russian manicures but all they do is hurt your cuticles which leaves an open wound for bacteria. They claim "luxury nails" for peeling nails and blame it on you. To top it all off in case you don't already feel like a fool for spending your hard earned money on a horrible place like this, they have horrible customer service who expect YOU to pay for THEIR error. read more

My one star has nothing to do with the quality of work and EVERYTHING to do with their pricing. I went in for a gel manicure. Christie took it upon herself to use "this Russian" brand that apparently cost more. I didn't find that out till the end. Once it was time to pay I was literally shocked $10 for my gel to be soaked off $10 for a matte top coat $10 for the hand design (did black French with some dots) And $75 for this special Russian gel I love supporting small businesses but if you are going to go here ask how much EVERYTHING COST down to is it extra for cutting your cuticles read more

After 4 weeks of waiting, I think I can finally write my review (I've jumped the gun with nail salon reviews in the past only to be disappointed after a week). I'd like to start off with the positives. My nails look incredible. It's been almost 5 weeks and I've experienced no lifting and no breaking whatsoever even after Christie warned me that there could be with my first set. They hand sculpt each nail and work until they're absolutely perfect. The salon only has 2 technicians who go by appointment only so your experience is very personal, unlike a regular salon where 15 people can walk in and you end up leaving with a sloppy rush job just so they can to get to everyone. I'm not sure if I would consider any of the following things to be negatives but they're things you should consider before booking. The process from start to finish took a few hours, we started at 6:30pm and I left at around 10:15. This was well worth it in my opinion based on the results that I got. My appointment was originally for 5:30 but they asked I come in at 6, and my technician didn't show up until 6:30. Not sure if this was a one time thing but it didn't bother me enough to stop me from booking again. As other reviewers have mentioned, there's frequent stopping/ starting to check phones, fine for me because I also want to check my phone lol! The one true negative that I have was that I bled a ton during the process, they do the Russian manicure technique that pushed back my cuticles and my nails just didn't handle that very well, I was still in pain 2 days later but after that I was fine. This was my first time doing a Russian manicure and based on what I read, some bleeding/ pain is normal for this type of cuticle treatment. I also don't know if the attachments are cleaned in between clients. The last thing I feel like I need to mention was the price, which was steep. BUT you get what you pay for and my nails are still perfect at 5 weeks. If I didn't have a vacation coming up I'd keep them even longer than I have. All in all I'm giving this place 5 stars. The pricing, deposit, and rules they have are worth the excellent end results that I received. Couldn't be happier with my choice to go here. read more

I found this business on instagram. It displayed very nice work. I posted a before and after of my nails. Then 12 days later of my nails. The place is very nice and clean. The business owner uses very expensive products. I showed a picture of what I wanted and received something very similar which was nice. However, the price told to me and the price I paid was different. The full set encapsulated acrylic coffin nails were $175. Something I would never had paid before but I was so desperate to try someone new. My nails began to fall off with 3 days. The owner fixed them and stated maybe it's because she was training the other girls. I believed her. Then the next day 2 nails cracked. I called her to make a appointment and left work early 2 days in a row. She's a very busy women. I was told to come back several times. It was a frustrating. She fixed them with the same acrylic and told me about gel. I thought she would try the gel to see if it's my nail is the problem with the products she uses. I've never had nails pop off so much before. It is now day 15 and I have 3 nails left. I was told by the owner my nail bed may be oily. I went to a doctor to get a script for my nail fungus I didn't have prior to my nail application. I have to go back to her to get the remainder of my nails taken off. She stated she would try gel this time for $80 plus $10 removal of the nails I have left. Very pricey but I now have skin on some of my nail bed. Don't come here! Not only are they extremely over priced but there customer service is horrible. My appt was @ 2:30 and I wasn't seen until about 4pm. While the owner Chrissy was doing my nails she constantly was checking her phone and taking little breaks. She is very rough on your cuticles and she was also very rough filing my nails. They hurt so bad the next day! She also took almost 4 hours to do my nails I ended up leaving @ almost 8pm. To top it off I paid $255 for a full set and within a week they were already lifting when she guaranteed they would last 6 weeks. Walked in (was unaware that they require appointments), there was one person getting her nails done and the other technician was taking pictures of a little girls nails. They asked if I had appointment I said no she instructed me it was by appointment only (which was fine), I asked if they had any availability today and she instructed me no and just gave me the business card. This WOULDVE been my first experience at this salon. At the arrival to my appointment I was impressed with the salon. Quite small but nicely kept. I sat down with the nail tech she was very nice. She starts her process of applying a new set for me as we approached the step of applying the acrylic im noticing the powder is colored. That wasnt what I asked for she then mentioned that the " nude special " was a peach powder. I wasnt told that at the time of my booking. I prefer clear powder. She called the manager she comes in explains that this is the special. My response was about i was inconvenienced by that not being said because going forward I would only be able to get that color for a fill. Also that the powder being colored should be mentioned at the time of booking. She spoke very rudely when she responded. She then proceeded to speak towards an attitude she felt I had because I wasnt told something. Didnt try to accommodate me any way possible. When I mentioned wanting to speak to the OWNER because she was NOT. she responded by saying the owner who happens to be her mother " doesn't take calls " she refunded my deposit and told the nail tech to stop what she was doing because I was upset at her failure to mention what the service included especially to a FIRST TIME CLIENT. They do great work here. The staff is extremely friendly and professional during my visit I saw three pricing lists that were displayed throughout the shop. In my opinion they could all be displayed in the front to eliminate any confusion, other than that it's a great nail shop. The shop is pricey but it's worth it. This place is so unprofessional. I've gone here multiple times always trying to give it another chance but no more. I make my appointments in advance, they always text to confirm and ask me to come in at an earlier time and then with such short notice the day of they ask me to come in later. This didn't bother me so much in the beginning but it's EVERY time I have an appointment. Then I have the decency to come in later assuming they're running behind but I still have to wait about half an hour to 45 minutes to be attended. On top of that I'm paying $75 for a fill in. The nails come out okay for the most part but nails are always slanted or there's still some acrylic not filed right on the side of my nails. At first I was hesitant to come here Because I wanted a tricky technique and there were no reviews on Yelp. I am so glad I decided to take the risk because this was the best manicure of my life! I called ahead to find out if they could do what I wanted and they were the first salon out of the half dozen I called that could do it. I made an appointment with Christie for later that day. I was greeted with a glass of Champaign and was the only client so I was able to have one on one attention. Christie took the time to understand what I was looking for and got right to it. After the first nail with the tricky technique was done Christie was not satisfied that it was good enough so she redid it without any prompting from me. All told Christie spent almost 5 hours perfecting my nails. All of her attention and efforts were focused solely on me the whole time. She made me feel welcome and I had no problem spending all that time with her because what I wanted was not easy. We both were having a great time. And of course my nails were FANTASTIC by the time it was all over. Christie has a client for life in me now. I'm So proud to have been able to give her her first Yelp review. Don't let the fact that there are few reviews scare you away. Christie is a nail wizard (and I'm a huge Harry potter fan so I mean that as the highest of compliments)! I happened to be in the area and decided to try D'Luna Salon since the girl i go to was on vacation. I asked the owner Christie for the price filling and a two designs, she told me 65 dollars. At the end she charged me 105 dollars and I was totally in shock i realize she took me for a long ride. My nails came out all right but not for that price. She specifically said cash only. I then felt suspicious and went to her site and noticed that I wasn't the only one taken for this ride. very shady !!
