tl;dr: Got the worst powder nails I've had in a salon here, spoke to the owner, she redirected me to Krystal and I went from "never going back" to "definitely returning." Service: SNS Manicure; $45 This is a really simple place. No frills, but with a warm atmosphere. The owner greeted most customers by name and recognized who they were on the phone (down to what services they got and what colors they like!). Staff was friendly when I came in and seated me right away even though I was early for my appointment. The tech I was paired with wasn't good at powder nails. Maybe she's learning, maybe it's not just her Thing. She didn't cut my cuticles, she used the nail file to make my beds abrasive correctly but then buffed it so it was smooth again, she started the powder all the way at the nail bed instead of having the first layer only go ~80%, didn't wipe excess powder between coats, messed up a nail with her nails and just kinda...smoothed the stuff on top. She fixed that nail later, but it didn't do much. The end result was very thick and lumpy. Powder and polish were all over my fingers and she managed to miss parts of my nail. I had a job interview the next day I was going to cry. As I was leaving, I caught the owner outside and politely told her that I was really unhappy with what I had, but not to stress over it. She insisted I go inside and they make it right. I felt so anxious and awkward because I felt bad for the tech, but it was the right call. The original tech removed more of the excess from my nails. Then I was paired with Krystal, who is OUTSTANDING. She had just done a wonderful job on someone else and she took the time to make sure my nails were fixed. They ended up smooth, even, and pretty. Since the initial technique for the powder was not ideal, I'm not sure how long these will last (I usually get about a month out of these manicures). However, Krystal made it so much better. I've been coming here for over a year now and love it. I always feel so welcomed and the nail technicians do an amazing job every time. They're perfectionists and my powder gel always stays for a long time and looks impeccable. They have loyalty points which I always greatly appreciate. Everyone on staff is very friendly and says hello when you come in, and if you're a regular, they remember what you like (which I think is so cute). I love when I'm getting my nails done by Alex or Penny and other nail artists come over to watch - whenever someone isn't working they love to learn from each other and I think it really pays off based on the level of skill they all have. Plus, anytime I ask for a specific design they go above and beyond to execute it. It is admittedly a bit pricey, but I won't go anywhere else to get my nails done! Very upsetting!!! I had an unpleasant experience here today. I've had my nails done here many times with Alex and was switched to a different technician for this appointment. My appointment was booked with a specific technician and when I arrived that person was not there. The receptionist paired me with a new nail technician for my gel mani and regular pedicure. Halfway to my pedicure lady left and changed a different person to finish my pedicure. I asked to do my nails gel (as I always do) Penny said it's too damaged and that I should make another appointment to get it done by Alex. I also asked for a massage and I was informed they did not have time for it. I don't understand why I was not notified prior to my appointment that this would be rushed. I have been a customer here for several years and I can say this salon is a 5 star rating. While the salon is small in comparison to some others that I have used, their attention to detail and service is first rate. I get a gel powder manicure and pedicure when I go and my nails always look great (I even get frequent compliments) and they last for several weeks without chipping. The salon operates as a by appointment which makes it great for not having to sit and wait to get my nails done. And it's nice to be known also. read more

Based on other reviews I was very excited to try this place. The photos all looked great! Unfortunately my experience was not what I expected. I made an appointment and arrived 10 mins early - as per their Facebook page- thinking I had time to browse their MANY colors for my pedicure....nope... the manager/owner was on top of me rushing me to pick a color. After about 2 mins he grabbed the dip powder book and decided that he would match my toes with whatever dip color I picked. When I sat in the pedicure chair, they didn't give me a choice for pedicure type (spa, Callous remover, etc.) they just did a very basic pedicure which consisted of nail file/cut, cuticle clean, and heel scrub. No exfoliation. They painted the nails and put on paper slide sandals and had me sit at the fans while I waited for my nail tech. There was a sign for chair massage but no one came back to me for about 10 mins and it was only to inform me that my tech was ready. The nail tech was good. She didn't really converse with me - couldn't really be bothered. I was in her chair for about an hour and 15 mins - long enough for my toes to dry for sure.... But she thought differently. She put a quick dry polish on them making the paint on my toes sticky, put a sandwhich plastic baggy over my toes and told me to put my shoes on..... when I got to my car I took everything off and notice my big toes were super ruined but didn't have enough time to go back in and ask for them to fix it - I had already spent about 2 and a half hours in there and had another appointment to make. Also, while I appreciate the "quiet please" signs - I didn't appreciate one of the techs telling the lady sitting next to me to be quiet while she was talking to her husband. And then while they were changing garbage bags at the stations they were super loud - kind of defeats the purpose of "quiet please." When it was time to pay - they didn't ask if I had a return member card nor did they offer me one. Which is fine but they had asked every other person. They also did not ask if I wanted to make a return appointment, which again they had done for everyone else. I've been to better nail salons - but if you are looking for a clean, get the job done - this place is ok. Just make sure you have flip flops for your pedicure. Where do I even begin? From the moment I made my appointment over the phone, I've been impressed with this salon. The receptionist, Jennifer, was super helpful and familiar with the service I was inquiring about. I had a full acrylic set from a different location who did them so terribly. I explained it to her and she gave me several recommendations and worked with me to find the perfect service. Walking in to my appointment today I was greeted by the entire staff which made me feel really welcomed. Normally at a salon you walk in and get glared at until you tell them what you're even there for. Not here! Super warm welcome Alex did my nails and when I tell you I've never seen such attention to detail, I am AMAZED. He was very patient while fixing this other salon's huge mistake. He does such beautiful work and communicates through the entire process with you so that you get exactly what you want. I am beyond impressed with this salon and Alex. 5 stars is not enough. However, a different woman with the really short hair cut is not so nice and tries to add on extra fees for anything when quoting prices at the front desk. Gel fill in is $70 there. The biggest concern is the 15% up charge if you're not paying in cash. $70 service is really $59.50 with 15% off. Gel fill ins usually cost $50 on average. Also, do your own calculations, because they will turn $59.50 into $60. I'm torn if I want to go back or not. read more

Jennifer and crew are always so kind and professional. Today, there was a difficult customer who came in, and they handled the situation with such grace and top tier service. It reminds me why I continue to go to them. I know I wouldn't have had the patience that they demonstated, but they are pros! No matter when I've come in, I've only seen them treat everyone with respect and understanding. They work quickly and efficiently, and are really skilled at matching the designs and nail shape I had in mind. So for the last few months I've been coming to this nail salon. It's convenient, professional and very clean. Not once have I had an issue. Until today! This location is by appointment ONLY, which I know. Usually when I have no appointment I'll call in to see if anyone canceled and see if I can come in. So today I made the call for a regular polish change. The man over the phone kept telling me about a price for gel polish since that was my last service. He then tells me come in at 2:30pm. I get to the salon around 15mins early, and let them know I was there for a 2:30. Then guy then begins to look at the calendar and tells me NO, there's no one scheduled for a 2:30. So I stand there confused being I just spoke to this gentleman. He then goes to ask if I called the right place and wanted to know what number I called as if there's two separate numbers for them. I give the number he continues to tell me he doesn't have anything for 2:30. So he utters to the young lady about my polish change I pick my color and have a seat. When done with the service I go to pay. I ask if they had Apple Pay since the signs are up saying they accept it. I was told no they don't. The guy then says the person who knows how to use it wasn't there. Looks at me and ask how am I going to pay? Do I have a credit card? How else am I going to pay? Like I just walk out of the house with no money. I was charged $20 but my last time I came in for the same exact service I was charged $18. Now a $2 difference may not be a big of an issue but that doesn't look right to me. I'm looking at it like a tip was added without my acknowledgement. I can be wrong. After trying a few nail salons near my home and being dissatisfied with the powder gel manicures I got, I went on Yelp and came across Nail & Lounge. I went to my appointment tonight for a pedicure and powder gel manicure and I couldn't be happier with the results. The pedicure was normal, they did a nice polish job and I received a nice foot massage instead of the 3 seconds of lotion application I received at the previous salons. May (I hope I spelled her name correct) did my French powder gel manicure and she did a beautiful job. She took care of my cuticles which were definitely ignored at the other places. The shop is sleek and cute and clean on the side. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. I called Nail & Lounge NY right after I had a disaster of a mani pedi at another nail salon which I had picked for convenience since my fiancé lived close and I didn't want to have to drive. I called crying asking if they did color changes as the place I went to did such a terrible job I was embarrassed to have it look the way they did. Took to Yelp and found Nail&Lounge and decided to take a risk and go to a new place to get a full set done for my birthday. I'm so glad that I did! I got a full acrylic gel set and a pedicure done. The pedicure was fine, nothing to freak out about, but the amount of care and time that went into making sure I got exactly the set that i wanted on my hands was wonderful. I felt like they really wanted to make sure my nails looked EXACTLY the way I wanted them to, and walked out with my nails looking even better than I had imagined. And 3 nail techs who had no one in their chairs.
