Great food and service. Don't be put off by the location (small strip of shops). The food is why people go here. Had the gyro and it was fantastic. Most gyros are made with thinly sliced meat. Not a D'michaels! You get a hunk of juicy, tender meat. So much meat that it's a bit messy to eat but we enjoyed every bite. I have had D'michaels once before and if I remember correctly I had a cheesesteak. I believe it was good so I decided to go back. This time I wanted to try the meatball parmigiana. I haven't had a good meatball sandwich in ages it seems. When I called to order my food they told me that they were out of meatballs. I wasn't too upset about that so I looked at the menu again and saw that they had a sausage parmigiana. It wasn't what I originally wanted but we'll see how it goes. I added fries and a drink I drove to D'michaels to pick up my food. When I got there my food was ready. When I got home I noticed there was a large number of fries with my order. That definitely was not a problem. Extra fries are always welcome. The sausage parmigiana was so delicious. It was Italian sausage but I wasn't expecting the spicy kick to it. The spiciness wasn't overwhelming though. I thoroughly enjoyed the sandwich. I want come back and try the meatball parmigiana. read more

Today was the worst ever my husband asked for light mustard. It's like they squirted extra just cause, I ordered the Nathan's hot dog. We eat here way too much! The owner is a transplant and brings everything in fresh from Philly and Chicago. Try the wings, especially the mango habanero, my current obsession. Then there are the Phillies, the bomb is my favorite with conecuh added for a bit of southern flair. You can't beat this delicious place, they really are the best. read more

When the hubs and I pulled into the parking lot, I may or may not have wanted to drive off immediately. But, the joke would've been on me. The sandwiches at this hole in the [shell of a strip mall] are SOOO freaking GOOD! The bomb sand which and their Philly is pretty tender and LEGIT! The great guys who run D'Michaels are awesome also, and offered the best recommendations and even made our sammies the way they like them prepared! YAASSSS!!! Food is always great. We always eat in rather than take out. The staff is friendly and we like the fact that the decor inside is basic. It's the great food that keeps us coming back. A couple suggestions for the staff. Remember the importance of keeping the floors swept, tables clean, drink area clean and trash emptied when full. Keep the AC on during the warm months. You won't spot it from the road and but it's definitely worth the drive. The food and service are amazing. My favs are the Chicken Philly, Buffalo Chicken Philly and Original Philly. I just add onions, mushrooms and jalapenos and I'm good to go. You can make it a combo (fries and a drink). If I'm thinking a combo, I just get a full instead of a half and save some for later. I forget about them until I scroll through my list of "regulars". It's not my usual route through Theodore. I hiighly recommend them if you are looking for an above average sandwich. Been reading the reviews for quite some time and finally decided to give it a try. Oh man!! I hate I waited so long! Store front is deceiving. Inside was clean but I still got my food to go. Ordered a regular 12" Philly with peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Ate half that night and thought it was amazing. But now I reheated the other half after a day and it's STILL amazing! My favorite Philly (before this one) was a place owned by a guy from Pittsburg. I'm pretty sure D'Michael's has him beat. Don't let the appearance of the strip shopping center right across from the Mobile Greyhound Park sign deter you. This is a pretty decent local sandwich shop just off I-10. The interior is simple with fixed in place bench seating and tables that have no give for those of us who are big and tall. The sandwiches are their own creations or their own take on classics like the Philly cheesesteak or Po Boy. There appears to be a Jersey shore past to the originator of the sandwich shop based on the photos on the wall. I tried their The Bomb special which is a smoked sausage with Philly cheesesteak makings on top. They also offer an Italian sausage variation of this as a daily special as well. The Philly cheesesteak toppings made me realize I should have ordered their Philly cheesesteak. It was pretty good. The smoked sausage was just ok. The fries that came as a side were exceptional. I would definitely stop here again if we were along this way at lunch during our travels. There is an Italian version of the Philly that adds marinara sauce that I want to try next time. read more
