The food was excellent and it was really cheap also!! It was a very good experience considering some of the other restaurants in Irvington/ Grand Bay. It was clean inside the restaurant I couldn't say more good about it. And the service was also very fast it didn't take but 5 minutes to get our food after ordering!! Let me start off with saying this, I wouldn't even give this place ONE star if I could. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE IM WARNING YOU RIGHT NOW. I ordered a burger to go with my spouse this morning. We got back home and I proceeded to eat the burger and with two bites in I pulled a long LONG piece of hair out the burger and out my mouth. So I went ahead and called them to let them know I was coming back in to get a refund or a remake. She told me to bring my burger in WITH the hair. So I drove 20 minutes back to the restaurant with my burger and walked in and waited in line. The owner pulled me out of line with an attitude and pulled me to the next drawer. I handed her my burger and she proceeded to tear the burger apart with her BARE HANDS (not giving a flying hell about the COVID-19 I'm assuming, no one was wearing gloves of any sort or hair nets) and told me that there was no hair in the burger. I told her "I would have NOT called or came up here to get a refund if there was not hair In my burger, I pulled the hair out my mouth and out the burger. I know what I seen so can I please get my refund so I can leave". She started yelling at me telling me that there was a mcdonalds down the road I could go to, she also told me if she had to remake it she would have put MORE hair in it, WHICH IS DISGUSTING, When I say YELLING I mean it. All the customers who were in line left because of how DRAMATIC and uncalled for the situation was. I told her "this is uncalled for, you're being disrespectful as hell there is NO NEED for this shit and I would like my refund please" She proceeded to SCREAM AT ME, take THREE DOLLARS AND CHANGE (NOT EVEN MY FULL REFUND THE BURGER WAS ABOUT 10$) And THREW IT AT MY FACE. AT MY FACE GUYS! So I turned around and walked the HELL out. She CHASED me down in the parking lot to MY Vehicle yelling at me telling me she was going to hit me. I turned around and told her she better think twice before she put her hands on me, she backed off screaming saying she was going to call the law and she had everything on camera. DJ's is our hometown restaurant! Quick, delicious food. My favorite is their BBQ sandwich! Great milkshakes too!

Despite living in Irvington for two years, my family had yet to try DJ's Diner except once, when my husband stopped in and got a milkshake. His opinion of the milkshake: "It wasn't bad." I'm giving them 2 stars because "it wasn't bad" pretty much sums up my experience getting take-out there. There are some really good parts to it, and I'll describe the good and the bad in detail now. My family of 4's order: (2) chili cheese hotdogs (1) onion rings (1) coleslaw (1) foot long hotdog (1) bacon cheeseburger (1) fries (1) order of hotwings (1) large vanilla shake (1) small caramel shake (1) small banana shake (1) small Coke Upon arriving home, we discovered that they had not, in fact, given us the hamburger that was ordered, so we immediately went back and got it. The rest of the food was as ordered. Good things about the food: the chili cheese dogs were awesome, the footlong hotdog was really good, the shakes were all delicious, and the portion sizes were huge! Excellent sizes, especially for the price. The hotwings were pleasantly spicy. The fries were excellent: not too crunchy, and not soggy at all. Definitely will go back for the fries. The bacon cheeseburger was okay. The bacon was not the best. I've had better, but I've had worse, too. Bad things about the food: the onion rings and hot wings tasted, texture-wise, like they were cooked about two days ago and then just heated up and served that way. The breading on the onion rings was stale, and the hotwings, visually, looked overdone and the breading on them was also very stale. The onion rings did not taste very good, either. The coleslaw was not remarkable, BUT coleslaw is a very subjective thing and one man's good coleslaw is another man's unremarkable coleslaw. We'll go back and try them again, and maybe I'll revise my review of them then, if they improve any. Really disappointed in those hot wings and onion rings, though. For it being a Friday afternoon and relatively slow, they should have had fresh stuff that looked and tasted better. read more
