San Leandro Healthcare Center is a scam. It's had many changed names to runaway from all the bad…read morereviews. To call this "skilled" nursing is a farce. This business is rotten from its core. The administration will cheat and lie to get rid of patients when copays incur regardless of your health condition. They will encourage you to stay only as long as your insurance covers 100% of the cost. A "Safe Discharge" cannot be relied on at all. They will do everything to criminally kick you to the curb before you are medically healthy enough to take care of yourself to avoid copays mounting up. They will bum-rush you out to rent your bed to fresh patients only to avoid billing copays. To top it off, the language and cultural barriers are extremely. Nice workers but confusion is constant. The food sucks and your call lights are ignored. Pray you never experience an emergency. This is your warning... Avoid the San Leandro Healthcare Center.

As I first visited they were renovating the exterior and landscape refresh and I found that to be so important. Residents get to look out their windows and enjoy something fresh and beautiful to look at. Other first impressions were multiple air filtration systems outside the doors of every room. Not sure if that was a 'leftover' from COVID kind of thing or what - but I liked it. Shared rooms were small and good to know is only two visitors at a time. It's hard to imagine it but the reason is purely for function. Placing 3 chairs around I think would be very difficult to navigate anymore. Luckily for those who might not like shared rooms - singles are available. If you've been saving money all your life and here - this might just be the time to spend a little extra if you don't like people around. My friend's neighbor was a pleasant person - and that's what I've found going to these types of places - its not bad to have another nearby... If your friend or family member is here its your job to visit. People make up excuses and there really is no excuse. I was able to slip in 30 minutes before closing after work and anybody can do that. I think visitors are an important part of recovery. You can't visit your friend or your mom? Just keep the excuses to yourself I don't want to hear it.

Update:…read more Unfortunately, things have only gotten worse. My family is now objecting to Mia's decision to file a trust accounting with the court ex parte--meaning she submitted it without notifying or sharing it with the beneficiaries beforehand. Another unnecessary action. This appears to be a deliberate attempt by Mia to block my family from exercising our legal right to formally contest the accounting, despite having already informed Mia of our objections. We are currently submitting formal objections to the court to stop Mia's attempts to pull one over on us, and a request for affirmative relief to remedy the significant financial harm caused by Mia and her fiduciary services. We are going through the court because Mia failed to set a bond for the full value of the trust--as required by a court-approved settlement agreement and confirmed in writing by her attorney--until after the trust assets had already been distributed. She only bonded the "holdback" amount, leaving us unable to file a claim against a full bond. We are now forced to seek financial remedy through the court instead. Despite this, we remain confident in our position. As both the judge and Mia's own attorney noted, bond requirements primarily protect the trustee, not the beneficiaries-- so it's not a loss of us. In fact it is more so a loss for Mia. Fortunately, by pursuing affirmative relief in court, as the judge advised, we still have a path to seek recovery for the losses Mia caused. Our evidence is substantial and clearly demonstrates Mia's failure to uphold her duty of prudent financial management--including her refusal to negotiate the sale of my grandfather's home, which appeared to be retaliation for a previous Yelp review posted by my mother. We believe the court will recognize this pattern of misconduct and award appropriate financial relief. If you or your family have also been harmed by Mia's actions, we strongly recommend the following steps: 1. Leave a Yelp review to inform and protect others. 2. File a complaint with the Professional Fiduciary Bureau of California (PFB). We've formally requested that Mia's license be investigated and potentially revoked. 3. File an objection with the courts as soon as possible to preserve your legal rights. Additional Advice: * Get everything in writing. Mia frequently gaslights or contradicts herself, and documentation is essential to protect yourself. * Track your own records. Mia has admitted that she creates invoices from memory instead of maintaining real-time records as required. This has led to inflated and inconsistent billing. * Confirm bond coverage early. We were told a full bond was in place, but Mia repeatedly stonewalled us when we asked for confirmation. In hindsight, we should have gone directly to the court--but we didn't want to be overly litigious. We now realize we should have acted sooner. As my mother's attorney said: "You don't have to be nice to the people managing your money." Beneficiaries have the right to transparency, respect, and fair treatment. Trustees work for you--not the other way around. Trustees should not be cons, bullies, or bitter--but in our experience, Mia Ousley has been all of the above. Things can get better--just not with Mia or Mia's Fiduciary Services managing your family's finances. Avoid this company, or be prepared for a legal battle.

Mia and her team failed to gain control over accounts. Mia charged the trust $190 per hour for refiling the files of paper documents, charging a small fortune against the trust. Mia failed to get appraisals of trust assets in the first 90 days, instead taking over a year and a half, then picking the most expensive appraisal her team found, more than double the cost of another qualified appraiser her team found. Mia interviewed very well at first, but that was not a good predictor of results. The beneficiaries have been without any communication directly from Mia for a long time. Her plans are a mystery to the beneficiaries.

I have visited at least once weekly, and at different times. I've had the opportunity to observe the staff both with him and with other residents. They are unfailingly kind and patient-- and cheerful, too. It's rare in a residential facility (this is his third), and worth everything. Too often a facility looks beautiful, but has awful care. I needed advice about help I needed in an area that Alice Home Care did not service and Alice was very helpful with a referral and also helped me with concerns I had with that other agency. The direct care I had with working with Alice Home Care was over the top. We were in the pandemic. My uncle had fallen and had Covid and needed home care. Alice met me at the house and we proceeded to get information from my cousin about what was needed for his father. Then my cousin fell ill during the talk. Alice saw the severity of the situation and brought in help within a couple of hours. This was amazing. And so badly needed. Eventually a longer term solution was found by Alice and the care was used for several months until my uncle moved to assisted living. Alice Home Care came to the rescue, brought in care that the family appreciated, and was very open in communications.

I had help from my family for the first week but did not know much help I would need after that. At 84 and living alone in a house with many stairs, I anticipated needing some care. I called Alice after the first week, seeking help with a range of concerns - I could not easily ice the wound on my own. Cooking and even minimal housekeeping were. still impossible. Having support nearby when I began showering felt essential. Alice listened carefully to my needs and hopes and set up a caretaker beginning just two days later. I could not have been more satisfied, my helper was organized, efficient, and very responsive. I felt cared for, the house felt clean and well stocked, she cooked and cleaned up as needed with minimal direction. Highly recommend.
