The wife and I were out for another weekend spin around the Texas Hill Country on the motorcycle looking for another fine eating establishment. Yelp lead us here. Melissa and Javier (Javi), the owners of this establishment, have a lovely little place here north of Canyon Lake. Be aware that the business name is changing to D'Vine Home Bistro. It looks like a small house converted to a restaurant. Open Tuesday through Saturday 9a-2p so plan accordingly. Four booths in the main dining area with a separate dining area in the back room. A few booths on the front porch and tables in the front yard with umbrellas. The wood paneling on the walls and linoleum floors reminds me of Memaw's house. Patsy Cline's I Fall To Pieces instrumental version playing in the background (yep Memaw's for sure). We sat after looking at the daily specials. Waffle Breakfast for the wife and Huevos Rancheros for me. Javi went to work. About 10 minutes later his handiwork landed on our table courtesy of Melissa. After snapping a few photos, we imbibed. Dang Javi...settle down. The waffle batter was dense almost like cornbread and very sweet. Didn't need syrup. Fresh strawberries and blueberries with some whip cream topped the waffle. Egged perfectly scrambled and as requested, crispy bacon. My huevos rancheros were delicious with so many complementary flavors. The tomatillo based sauce topped the tortillas, beans, eggs, and pico. Great food at a reasonable price. Small kind of a "hole in the wall" kind of place. Has probably seven tables inside and also has a good amount of outside seating. Very friendly folks there. Fun memorabilia autographed pictures and great signage on the walls. They just had a cook change. He has some great entrees. We tried his meatloaf for lunch. Opening times have just changed, Tuesday through Saturday 9 to 2 pm. They are trying a new time slot on Fridays from 4:30pm to 8? starting as of this March 2025. We actually went there for the evening meal for our anniversary and had a great steak dinner and really great chocolate fudge cake for desert. Sadly I didn't take a picture of this festive meal. To my appreciation, and of course looking at the menu, it is not just Mexican food. It is a little more but with an excellent homemade touch. For starters we enjoyed an exquisite potato soup. My wife enjoyed an excellent taco boul and for my part of the menu of the day a beef taco in corn tortillas, rice and refried beans. The service, the attention was excellent. Know before you go- They only take cash or checks. No CC or debit. If you show up 30-45 min before they close they may only have hamburgers left. Double check their hours before heading that way. Maybe call ahead. Place is tiny and has 4 tables inside and 2 outside. Luckily, we still have checks in the car we forgot about like 100 years ago but then went back in and the burger thing happened. Giving it 4 stars bc I'm sure the food is great but we didn't get that far. Really just want to give a heads up for any foodies out of town looking for something good. First of all the customer service upon entry was great, doors opened for us and greeted. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Now the food.....I've lived in Texas over 30 yrs. What an amazing little spot. Great family owned business open for breakfast and lunch. They have ample seating inside, and two picnic tables that are tree shaded outside. Their son was playing music while we were there. We were with a large group and the husband took our order with great patience. The wife makes every dish by hand, and each plate came out one by one. This was fresh food! Everything was amazing and cooked to perfection. For the quality of the food, the prices were low! What a nice little lunch surprise on a Tuesday afternoon.
