    28. Barbacoa Plate

I've tried to like Cafe Guadalajara since it's the closest Mexican restaurant to me, but both times the food has been below average in my opinion. While the prices are reasonable, I have not been impressed by the flavor or quality of any items I've gotten. I would say in a pinch, you might find something good on their menu but overall, I'd pass. I ordered the Barbacoa Plate and found the meat very dry and stringy. For what you're getting, there wasn't enough rice and the side salad wasn't the freshest. I'm still on the search for proper Mexican / Tex Mex in Canyon Lake!

Great service wonderful food great staff was able to go through the drive-through at my lunch hour and pick up enchiladas and Kearny Asada with a side of queso and guacamole with jalapeños perfect

I enjoyed the patio seating. The food is pretty mediocre. The flavors aren't really there, but the prices and portions are OK. I got a chicken soup and it was really bland and didn't really have much chicken. It was mainly potatoes and celery. I wouldn't come back for the food but maybe for the views.

Service was not good. Never knew who our server was. Food was ok, not great.... Waited 20 min for drinks, no one knows what's happening in here. $12/ marg isn't bad. But for chips and cheese nachos with jalapeños, and a single shredded chicken taco... 2 margs and 1 daiquiri that I waited 25-30 min for... ABSOLUTELY NO reason our ticket should've totaled to $80.54. Then you get charged 20% auto gratuity - for the sub par service for who? We don't know! AND charged a card fee. Do not recommend!

Cafe Guadalajara (CG) on FM 306 in the village of Hancock is in our regular rotation for Tex Mex when we're visiting Canyon Lake or staying all summer long. We love CG for a few reasons: Menu: There is something for everyone, including picky eaters who just want nuggets & fries. Authentic San Antonio-Style: If you're from Texas, you know that all Tex-Mex is not created equally. CG has all the classic menu items and they are all pretty good. Be sure to try all the salsas to find your favorite - ours is the creamy jalapeño. Lake view: CG is one of very few spots around Canyon Lake where you can sit on the porch and share a meal or drinks while watching the sunset over the water. To be fair, the porch is, ahem, rustic, but we're cool with it. The crazy barstools and sporadic road noise from 306 & the drive-thru mean that the porch doesn't get crowded. Drive-thru: Yes, even though this is a real sit-down restaurant, they offer a drive-thru option, which can be very nice when you are wet & sweaty from being on the lake all day, or it's early & you wanna pick up brunch in your PJs for the crew back at the house. Don't get it twisted, this is not a fast option and the team will need time to prepare your order. Most of the time, we call in our to-go order from home and drive over to pick up. The staff is always friendly and our order is always accurate. My favorite menu items include the barbacoa, carne guisada, any enchilada plate, the tortas & gorditas, any grilled item, and the caldo de pollo.

Great service, great price, great food. Can't really go wrong with this place. Get the outdoor patio seating for a view of the lake. I had the menudo and it was delicious! The other food seems to be on a saltier side.

Margarita and michelada, chips were fresh but a tad salty.

This place is so cute and has a great view of the lake! Very authentic. All the waiters were working so fast and hard, it was good to see the whole staff working together. Our waiter had several recommendations. Now for the food!!! We had the Texas plate, the Mexican plate, and Gordita plate. Everything we tried was amazing. Hands down the BEST carne guisada i think we have ever tried. Hubby had a Rita and said it was good and iIhad a michelada, it was top notch. One of the best I've had.

Came from out of town from a work trip, Cafe Guadalajara happened to be right across the road from our hotel. Prices were all reasonable, food was great, and the service was quick!. Definitely feels like one of those secret hole in the wall places with great food!

The place started picking up and getting busy as we were there, but our waitress continued to make eye contact with us and make sure we had what we needed. I ordered the special which was Carne guisado tacos it came with a dessert and tea or coffee and the price was phenomenal. I gave that a shot and my husband ordered the pastrami on toast with fries. Our orders were done quickly and the tacos. The meat inside them was amazing. Melt in your mouth, tender, and not dry at all. The beans were wonderful homemade pinto beans and the rice was a little salty like chicken broth salty but I was thrilled with the meal. The tacos were huge. My husband got the pastrami like I said, and he said this was the best pastrami sandwich he has ever had. That's strong praise from this meat lover. The waitress was slower towards the end of our meal as the place got more packed, but she was still making eye contact with us. We saw that a dessert came with it for free and she quickly got that out to us after we finished our meal. The dessert was basically a small portion of apple cobbler or something like that which was very un impressive. All in all we totally enjoyed our main courses and the waitress was sweet and we would go back there again and again.

This coffee lounge has a really laid back atmosphere with plenty of places to sit. I took some photos and thought it was weird that there weren't any customers. A few minutes after entering we were greeted by a man working there. He was friendly and told us that they were closed and had just shut down at 3:00 pm. My husband then asked about their coffee beans. He told us that if that was all we wanted then he'd sell some to us. My husband looked at the choices, picked the blend that he wanted, we paid and then left. This is a nice coffee lounge with a laid back atmosphere and friendly service. Walking in felt like walking into your grandmas living room in the best way possible. The decor and furniture gave a very comforting vibe. Ordering was nice and easy, I tried the banana cream/bread matcha and it was delicious! It was one of the best matchas I've had. Not too overpowering with the banana flavor and not too much milk and sugar like other places. I enjoyed doing some school work here after my job. I can't wait to come back and bring my friends for a little coffee date!
