I stopped by D'vine Nail Lounge & Head Spa in Monrovia, which is currently in its soft opening phase (with its Grand Opening coming up on August 8), planning to get a quick pedicure. Little did I know, my visit would turn into one of the most relaxing self-care days I've had in a long time! Located in the now-busy Huntington Oaks Plaza, between The Little Gym and Five Below, D'vine is a great addition to the shopping center. The location is hard to miss and offers plenty of space inside. When I arrived, one of the staff members, "V" mentioned that their highly recommended scalp specialist was in that day and suggested I try their 60-minute Head Spa treatment instead. Since they're currently offering 30% off services over $95, and the head spa is normally $125, I figured it was the perfect excuse to try something new. First of all, the space is beautiful and HUGE--it may very well be the largest nail and spa lounge in Monrovia. Everything felt clean, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. The head spa room has five beds with privacy dividers, although I had the entire room to myself during my visit. Helen was my head spa specialist, and she was absolutely AMAZING. As someone who enjoys visiting head spas in the San Gabriel Valley because they remind me of home, I already had high expectations--but Helen took the experience to another level. The head spa did not include a scalp analysis with a microscope, but honestly, I never felt like I was missing out on anything because the actual treatment itself was so relaxing and well-executed. The experience included a neck and shoulder massage with essential oils, a deep hair wash and conditioning mask, hair steaming, and a facial, all seamlessly incorporated into the service. She also used several different hair and scalp tools throughout the session that made the experience feel extra luxurious and high-tech. There were at least three different gadgets used on my hair and scalp, each adding something unique to the treatment. But honestly, as nice as the gadgets were, nothing beat Helen's hands. Her pressure was perfect, and her scalp massage alone was worth the visit. If you've ever had a massage where the therapist somehow finds every spot carrying stress and tension, that's exactly what Helen did. One feature I especially loved was the foot and leg compression massager she wrapped around my legs while working on my scalp. It gently squeezed and massaged my calves throughout the treatment, which was such a nice surprise. On top of that, my legs were elevated on a wedge-style pillow that made the entire experience even more comfortable. It sounds like a small detail, but it made a huge difference in helping me fully relax. I enjoyed the head spa so much that I decided to stay and have Helen do my pedicure as well. Best decision ever! She paid attention to every detail and made me feel completely pampered from start to finish. What was supposed to be a quick walk-in pedicure turned into a 2-hour self-care retreat, and honestly, it was exactly what I needed. Between the head spa, facial, neck and shoulder massage, leg compression therapy, and pedicure, I walked out feeling completely relaxed, refreshed, and stress-free. And if you're thinking about trying the head spa, consider this your sign. Between Helen's magical hands and the current 30% off promotion for services over $95, I'd say my wallet and I had a brief disagreement--but my scalp won. I walked in expecting nothing more than a simple pedicure and somehow ended up giving myself the spa day I didn't know I needed. I regret absolutely nothing. Do yourself a favor and take advantage of the discount during their soft opening period. Your wallet may complain for a minute, but your scalp, legs, and stress levels will thank you for weeks. ‍ read more

I really hate leaving a negative review because, prior to yesterday, I had nothing but wonderful experiences here. I had been in with one of my daughters for manicures and pedicures, returned with another daughter for the head spa treatment, and had previously seen Van, who did a fantastic job. I enjoyed this salon so much that I even purchased a $75 gift certificate for a friend because I felt comfortable recommending it. Unfortunately, my experience at their grand opening was completely different. About two weeks before the grand opening, I received a text advertising the event, including 50% off services and grand-opening festivities. I immediately CALLED the salon and made an appointment for 10:15 a.m. for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. During that call, I specifically mentioned that I was booking because of the grand opening. I asked for Van and was told that because they expected to be extremely busy that day, they couldn't guarantee a specific technician. I completely understood and accepted that. The day before my appointment, I even received a text reminder confirming my 10:15 appointment. When I arrived at 10:15, there was a huge line wrapping around the building. I went to the front and explained that I had a confirmed appointment. I was immediately told they were not honoring appointments that day and that the appointments had been made "by mistake." I was told I would need to go to the back of the line. I explained that I had specifically called and spoken with someone at the salon to make this appointment, had discussed the grand opening during that conversation, and had received a confirmation/reminder. I also explained that I had planned my day around this appointment because I was leaving town and had several errands to get done. After speaking with two different people who appeared to be managers, one of them finally acknowledged that this was their mistake and told me they would honor my appointment and work me in. I was asked to step aside and wait. Approximately 45 minutes later, a gentleman who I believe was an owner came over questioning, in front of me, how I had gotten inside without a number and without waiting in the line. The manager tried to explain the situation. I showed him the appointment confirmation on my phone, and he initially told me it was an issue with the appointment company and that the appointment never should have been made. I explained that I had actually CALLED the salon and one of their employees personally scheduled it. He then said they would get me in shortly. After waiting approximately another 20 minutes, I was finally taken to a pedicure chair in the very back corner. I then sat there for approximately another 45 minutes. No technician ever came over to introduce themselves, start my pedicure, start my manicure, or even give me an estimate of how much longer I would be waiting. I simply sat there watching other customers being serviced around me. At that point, I went back to management and was essentially told, again, that they were sorry but were just too busy and really couldn't service me. So after all of that waiting, I left without receiving either service. I completely understand that a grand opening can be hectic and that things can go wrong. What I don't understand is taking an appointment by phone, discussing the grand opening while making that appointment, sending a confirmation/reminder the day before, and then telling a customer upon arrival that the appointment doesn't count. Even worse, after acknowledging that it was the salon's mistake and repeatedly telling me they would accommodate me, I was kept waiting for well over two hours and ultimately received no service at all. Had someone contacted me beforehand and explained that appointments had accidentally been scheduled and could not be honored, I would have understood and made other arrangements. Instead, I wasted a significant portion of a very busy day waiting for a service they ultimately had no intention or ability to provide. What makes this especially disappointing is that I was already a repeat customer who had genuinely enjoyed this salon, brought my daughters here, and even purchased a gift certificate for a friend because I had recommended it so highly. I hope this was simply a very poorly managed grand opening and not representative of how the salon plans to treat established customers going forward, but the way this situation was handled was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. read more

Found this nail lounge on a whim and happened to be there on their grand opening day. I walked in without an appointment and although it was busy, was seated within 5-10 minutes. I opted for the Daisy pedicure which included a few extras for a total of $55. The space itself is very well thought out with plenty of seating available and a general luxe feel. They definitely curated a good collection of quality materials and products. The manager was very sweet and offered something to drink while I got my nails done. The person who did my nails (named Daisy, but not after the service lol) did a great job, taking her time with the scrubs and cleaning, and doing a clean but quick job with the polish. I went today to get a hard gel fill mani and regular polish pedi. This was my second time visiting this location. First of all, Jenny did my mani and it looks absolutely beautiful. She was so sweet and I will definitely be requesting her the next time for my mani! Van did my toes and was also wonderful and I felt so relaxed during the massage portion. Will be requesting her as well in the future. About an hour ago I noticed one of my toe nails had chipped and I called and spoke to someone and he told me to come in and they would fix it promptly. Im unable to go in today, and he said whenever works for me to just go in and let them know. I want to add that I had zero chips the previous time after 3 weeks, so I think this is just random. Came in on a whim as a walk in. The place was so clean and everything is up to date. Letty was welcoming and spent the whole time tending to me and cleaning even gave me a cup of coffee to start off my service. I had Daisy do my nails and Tammy my feet. They were both so kind and went above and beyond for my services. The pearl pedicure felt luxurious and smelled amazing which ideal if you're looking for some extra pamper. They even patched up a broken nail I was self conscious about. I felt very comfortable here and will probably come back another time. The salon is very beautiful, but unfortunately my experience was not the best. I only wanted a color change for my hands and feet, but I was offered many additional services even after I repeatedly said I was not interested. I felt they were very pushy, and the service seemed rushed. Even though it was only a color change, my nails did not turn out well. Only last one day!!!  I was charged $70, and although they told me I was receiving a discount as a new customer, I felt the price was far too high for the service I received. read more
