Quoted $1,200 for a job to remove poison ivy along a rock wall in the front of our property. Invoice came in at $1,960 with no heads up about the difference. I called and they told me when the workers showed up and realized it was a bigger job and needed some larger equipment. The person on the phone also informed me whoever made the quote "was unable to get a good look at the wall". How am I now supposed to be responsible for your inability to give me an accurate quote. I understand the estimate says the costs may be "higher or lower" and I feel like a reasonable amount would be 20%. Not a 60% increase with NO communication - and they knew I was home, just knock on the door. Deceptive company and I will not work with or recommend them to anyone. I have a unique perspective in that I've done my lawn for 30 years. This week my tractor went in for service and needed a cut for special occasion. This company stepped up to the plate and helped us out. I called about 10 local companies and none returned call. I've watched all the neighbors run through landscape companies and none have been good enough to transition. This is the first company that I have experienced that cares about quality and service. I'm extremely happy with the project D4 completed at my house. I cannot say enough good things about Jay, Jack and their crew. They went above and beyond to make sure my patio came out perfect. We had a stone wall and a walkway that was in rough shape. We needed a new wall, new steps, and a new walkway. We spoke with and got quotes from a number of different companies. D4 came out and spent a good amount of time with us talking through the process and the options. They seemed to be one of the few companies that brought up some really key points (such as proper drainage, sloping, etc...). This made them stand out and we decided to work with them. They were extremely patient as my wife and I worked through a number of small changes/updates. I was amazed when I saw the true skill and care that was taken with every single stone that went into the rock wall. We watched from the window these talented Masons/artists carefully shaped each and every stone to ensure a perfect look and fit. They made sure to take into account not just shape, but color and size as well. It was a true work of art. When we commented that there was a bit more red in the walkway than we were hoping, the owner without pause said "You need to live with this every day and be happy" and asked his team to pull out many of the red stones that were already down and replace them with more gray which is what we were hoping for. I knew at that point; this is the type of company that I want to do business with. More impressive than just the work on the wall and walkway, was the careful care they took to clean up. They added loam and seed where there was none, they patched any bit of driveway that may have now been exposed due to the demolition of the old wall and they spent a considerable amount of time, sweeping, blowing, and cleaning up after themselves. My wife and I couldn't be happier with the results as well as the interaction and professionalism of D4. The pictures speak for themselves, but interaction and follow-through make them a diamond in the rough. These guys are great. Responsive, professional, easy to work with, and reasonably priced. They work hard and go above and beyond what you'd expect from a landscaper. I mean, they really hustle when they work. They cleared out the existing scraggly bushes in front of and behind our house, built a magnificent brick walkway for us in front of the house, and then put in all new shrubs and plants. We wanted low maintenance plants but didn't know what to ask for. D4 took care of us, and totally transformed our yard from a neighborhood embarrassment to a thing of beauty. Really nice guys too. Well, where do I begin. So angry and pissed off at these incompetent morons. Have had these people supposedly taking care of my lawn but they do anything but that. The crews always work very erratic and haphazardly with no regard to people's personal possessions or house property. Have had multiple exterior lights damaged, a hose, my firepit, furniture, window walls, and other items. They will wake you up at 6:00 in the morning only to mow your lawn for 10 minutes only to do nothing else and then leave. They refuse to and ignore any seeding or mulching or properly treat my affected areas of my grass. Need their help for cleanup in the fall months? You'll be lucky if you see them within 2 months of their first fall cleanup. As of now, they have only replaced the damaged lights but ONLY because I called and complained. They acted like they didn't even care and didn't fix the lights for a whole month! They way overcharge you just so they can work so erratic and lousy and damage everything that you own. I'm hiring another landscaper immediately and would have never hired D4 in the first place if I knew how this group of slimy buffoons operated. Anyone is better than these guys, even a pet goat! Would rate D4 Landscaping 0 stars if I could. Stay far away from these people, literally anyone else is a better choice for your yard work and landscaping needs! Despite of having a contract, this company left us to shovel snow for hours (with the neighbors) after the biggest snowstorm. They did not answer telephone calls, only the next day, when we learnt that they are not working in our town any more, despite of calling us a couple of months ago for confirmation on the contract. We have a driveway we share with the neighbors with two kids which makes the matter even more serious. Since the storm, nobody called us even with an apology. read more
