It was good to know that even pasta out of a box can be prepared with the freshest ingredients. I ordered the pesto with garlic and pecorino, and it was honestly one my favorite pastas I've had in Italy. My pasta came with rigatoni, which was perfectly al dente.

An excellent mix of wonderful fish and seafood. Quality wise along on top with the best ones we've had so far (we love Crudo di Mare). And all is nicely presented. Really made our day, this meal here. After the meal we even got some aperitif on the house. A wonderful place. Feels very relaxed, lots of great items on the menu. What also stood out for me about Osterial alla Testiere was that they get fish fresh from The Rialto Market every morning. Whatever fish they find to their liking will be on the menu for that day. The restaurant was small and probably seated up to 20 people max at one time. That said, it felt very cozy and intimate, so much so we made friends with the couple at the neighboring table. The food was paced really well, and the servers were friendly and helpful. We started off with the octopus salad. A simple dish with the simplest, freshest ingredients. I don't think I've had avocado in all of Italy, so they were a real treat. For our first dish, we got the gnochetti with prawns. I've only had gnocchi once the entire trip, and this was by far the better one. My husband got sweet and sour prawns "besora" style. The sauce was very flavorful, and the shrimp were plump and perfectly cooked. My turbot dish was the star. Again, cooked simply with a flavor forward olive oil. Loved the bursts of flavor from the tomatoes and olives. Lastly, we had a side of fresh veggies from their garden including haricots verts, carrots, yellow squash, and a veggie that was like green chard. They were sauteed and well seasoned. I've been craving veggies during my trip, so I ate up the veggies like it was my job.
