    And again!

Plenty of choices on the menu and the food is good. You can spend a little (pizza or pasta or simple appetizers) or a lot (we had the salt baked sea bass and it was outstanding but expensive!) Service was extremely good, and the staff has fun with their work. Bonus - we stayed at the hotel next door (Hotel Mercurio) so finding Anonimo was great fortune - we ate here twice and do not regret it!

Run of the mill food for tourists. I got corralled by the tout outside the door. Hunger will sometimes even get the better of fussy me when making a restaurant decision. Tight quarters inside. Little elbow room. Decorated well enough. Service folks are nice. Wi Fi is fast. The lunch prix fixe menu is a good value. A la carte meal of 3 courses can climb into expensive range. Portion sizes are sort'a small (a rarity in Venice). Deliciousness score = B-. My wife liked the mixed seafood plate. My meager veal scallopini with lemon sauce was fairly awful. But, Extra credit for complimentary Aperol spritzer before meal & small limoncello after. You can do worse by eating this close to San Marcos square. But you probably can find a tastier meal for less money in the neighborhood.

This has the most amazing seafood risotto my husband and I have ever had, and we have traveled a lot and had a lot of good food in our time. The service tailors to American pace, which we were surprised by. We actually wanted things to go slower. You know it's good when all the gondoliers stop in for lunch before their shift starts. The servers are great at this restaurant and the food is divine. Every bite was savored. We will go back!

Fantastic dinner! We were celebrating our 10 yr anniversary. Wonderful pasta (lasagna and ravioli) and the drinks were excellent. The staff were friendly and generous! Would definitely come back again!

A beautiful spot! Super close to our hotel and the food was delicious! I got the smoked salmon gnocchi, and the mussels zappa, both absolutely blew my mind! Our server Armando was so kind. I speak very little Italian and he gave us great wine and drink recommendations. Venice was one of our last stops in Italy and this was some of the best pasta i've had in the whole 10 days we were here! highly highly recommend!!

But what they've created can be a very fun experience if approached with the right attitude. Come during daylight hours, hopefully late afternoon (for lunch/drinks/appetizers) and sit only at an outside table along the Grand Canal. Situated near the bridge to Piazza Romolo, Rio Novo isn't on a very attractive part of the canal. Ignore the mass of people hurrying back to the bridge to catch their bus to who knows where. Look only at the canal. This might be the busiest, most intensely crowded part of the Grand Canal and it's a gas to watch. Motorboats kicking up wake, tourists on private water taxis making their way to a more attractive part of town and, once in a while some gondoliers taking passengers in a part of the canal far from serene. Is all of this fun to watch? Indeed. The staff here aims to please and will happily grab your camera and wait patiently for pedestrians to pass by before snapping a few dozen photos of you enjoying the place. After your meal, the server will return with an ice cold, complimentary Limoncello for you. And the food and drink? Very reasonably priced and satisfying (we enjoyed both spaghetti and lasagna), especially when you throw in the waterfront entertainment. There's a million prettier canal-adjacent restaurants, pricier and run by Italians. That said, Rio Novo is a fun place from which to enjoy the hustle-bustle of the canal along with well-priced, satisfying food and drink.

On our last evening in Venice we wanted some Crudo di Mare. Checked online and found this place…read more Reviews looked very good. So we came here for an early dinner (around 5pm), kitchen is open through! Took a nice table inside by the window. Our Bulldog was welcome as well. Staff/owner very friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome here. Inside it's a nice, cosy atmosphere. Good selection of wine on the menu as well. For all kinds of budgets. And at the counter a nice display of all kinds of seafood. Lovely place. We've ordered the Crudo di Mare plate and Spaghetti Vongole. And a .375ml bottle of their white house wine, which turned out to be a good pairing with the seafood. Both dishes were excellent! Plenty of Vongole (clams) in the pasta dish, Spaghetti were perfectly cooked. Vongole were nice and fresh and the dish perfectly spiced (not too much, which is good). A real highlight definitely the Crudo di Mare. Two langoustines (so nice and sweet flavour), two red shrimp. scallops, tuna, swordfish, oysters and tuna tartare. All fresh, all tasty. An excellent mix of wonderful fish and seafood. Quality wise along on top with the best ones we've had so far (we love Crudo di Mare). And all is nicely presented. Really made our day, this meal here. After the meal we even got some aperitif on the house. A wonderful place. Feels very relaxed, lots of great items on the menu. And really fair prices, this is a real gem here with great value. And we will definitely be back next time in Venice. Highly recommended!
