We went there and they were closed. An employee eventually showed up to open just to discover the power was out ‍ #BadBusiness

After passing this place up and down highway 3, I finally decided to stop. It sits back on a lot…read moreand you will miss it if you are not paying attention. The owner was nice, friendly, and helpful with making my selection. I forgot the name of my order, but the flavors were watermelon and apple jolly ranch. He proceeded to tell me how he uses fresh fruit to curate his flavors and the only addition to his drinks, is alcohol. Well, he is on to something. I ordered a large for $15.50. The taste was fruity instead of watery, thumbs up... it tasted good in a none slurpee way, consistent thru to the last sip. Now on the other hand, it needed a better brand of rum or more of it. Yelp, it was week. For $15.50 I was expecting more.

I bust a U and drove thru! So glad I did. I'm horrible w/names but I chopped up with the owner. Nice guy! Told him I was in town from Northern California. He shared some of his history w/me (how he met a woman on a visit and now she's his wife and business partner). That's sweet & not every couple can be business partners. Back to the daiquiri. I got the Island Breeze one day. I went back 2-3 days later and got a mango-something that had Tajín in it. He suggested it and it was great. I love frozen drinks, the only thing missing was the umbrella. As hot as it was every damn day, if I thought my liver could've handled it, I would've had a couple every day!! They do sell it by the gallon. Great convo, great service & Great Daiquiris!!!

I should start this by saying we love Gilhooley's. They are a staple in sunny SanLeon and should…read morenot be slept on. The service is always on point and the atmosphere is so welcoming. Sometimes the clientele gets a little rowdy but it is a 18+ restaurant so at least kids aren't around to experience some of the adults that don't know how to behave in public. Last weekend we went for dinner and got a show. a lady sitting at the bar dropped her top several times and exposed herself to everyone in the place. The first time it happened the bartender untied her top making it fall. Everyone laughed excepted a few older people that were very uncomfortable- the woman was obviously very comfortable and a regular. So I'm sure it wasn't the first or the last time it'll happen. The food was phenomenal as always. We always get some version of oysters (you can't beat the flavor here) and I got a salad. Zero complaints on the food, would like to not see people expose themselves while eating but again we eat here often and it's the first time it happened. Don't skip this place but do keep in mind it can get a little lively. Oh they do often have bands and a fully service bar. A must for sure.

Burgers are solid, drinks are cold, and you don't leave hungry, that's for sure. What really makes it though is the management. Those folks run a tight ship. You can tell they know what they're doing. Always moving around, checking on things, making sure customers are good. Not a lot of places got that anymore. They treat people right and it shows.

With a party of 11, we were initially seated outside, where the strong wind quickly became our biggest enemy. Utensils were flying, birds were circling, and powdered sugar from the beignets was getting all over our clothes. Thankfully, the staff noticed and kindly opened up the second floor for us. Throughout all of this, our waitress remained friendly, attentive, and patient, even entertaining my friends' terrible jokes. The Beignets were a great way to start the meal. For five very large beignets covered in a generous amount of powdered sugar, $8.99 felt like a great deal. They were fluffy, fresh, and served hot, which made them especially comforting on a cool and windy day. I ordered the Baja Fish Tacos, which came with three tacos and a side for $14.99. The portion size was very generous. I could barely finish two tacos and hardly made a dent in my sweet potato tots. The fish was crispy, the tacos were packed with a cilantro cabbage mix, and the sambal crème fraîche added a nice creamy element that balanced the dish well. That said, while everything was solid and satisfying, the tacos did not particularly stand out in flavor compared to similar dishes I have had elsewhere. Overall, this place delivers a fun and accommodating dining experience with friendly service and generous portions. While the food is good, it leans more toward reliable than memorable, making it a nice stop if you are in the area but not necessarily a destination I would go out of my way to revisit.
