Stupafacente!!! Magnifico! This was one of those memorable, unbelievably delicious dinners you keep thinking of even when you return from vacation a few weeks later. The antipastos were fantastic. We shared the Fantasia di mare and the Antipasto misto -- dish after dish of delectable meats, seafoods, cheeses and grilled vegetables. The housemade pastas were equally wonderful. The only thing I did not love was the bread, which were discs of dough that were almost cracker/biscuit like. There is no view and it's not fancy, but this is a must-do restaurant in Monterosso, and you need a reservation. And prices are soooo reasonable. read more

This was a great final meal in Monterosso! The antipasto plate was delicious and beautifully presented. The biscuits they serve before your meal were amazing! The carbonara and Bolognese were tasty although the pancetta on the carbonara was very salty (I'm sure this is how it's supposed to be). I am so glad I got to try this place! My husband and I had just got done hiking from Riomaggiore to Monterosso. We were famished for food and hadn't really done any research on where to eat. Our bad! Yelp steered us to Da Eraldo and miraculously we were able to get in without a reservation! The service was excellent and the food priced well. We started off with the house white wine. Pretty good! My husband then opted for the trio of pastas and I opted for the pesto lasagna. The trio included the pesto lasagna, a pasta with walnut sauce, and seafood paparadelle. My husband and I both agreed that the pasta with walnut sauce was the best. Seeing as we did a nine mile hike that day we also got some dessert and the chocolate cake did not disappoint! I thought I'd fall into a tourist trap here. Popular place on Yelp & Tripadvisor, with American music blasting over the loudspeakers. Verdict? Yes, it is a tourist trap but yes, they have delicious hand-made pasta at reasonable prices (more expensive than standard restaurants) around 11 to 15 euros. I got the Frutti Di Mare, which came out in a HUGE portion. Definitely lots of clams, mussels, prawns, etc. in there and the pasta was perfectly al dente. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in this area of Cinque Terre for a delicious meal. read more

Great service and above average quality food but excellent quantity of food. I'd come here as a group wanting big antipasti platters and not as a couple for something romantic. The seafood platter to start is huge. It really could probably feed 4 people as an appetizer or two people as a whole meal. They have some above average cured fish slices, above average octopus salad, and some nice bacon wrapped shrimp. Then the hot fish comes out which is very well prepared and some forgettable mussels and clams. The monterroso salad is quite nice with the free bread if you stack it on top. Wine is very affordable. Alright this place was packed the night we wanted to go and they couldn't take us in before closing - we were really disappointed. First the girl said she'll check on a table for us and never came back to follow-up! We stood around for a good 15-20mins before a guy came to tell us they couldn't seat us for the night.. there were probably 2-3 other couples behind us as well. We came the next day for lunch and it was pretty empty - I guess we were early enough. We sat inside on these wooden benches and there's the red tablecloths! Made me feel like it was rustic Italiano! I had the pasta trio - pesto Lasagna, a brown casserole thing (not sure what it was) and a seafood parpardelle! The pesto lasagana was on the light side - maybe I'm just use to Americans over seasoning everything?! But I didn't like it at all - which was disappointing considering pesto is a specialty for this region. The middle Pasta was different - not sure what else I can say about it. Not sure if I like it but I definitely didn't hate it. The seafood parpardelle was good! I loved the flavors of the sauce and the pasta was cooked well, maybe evenly slightly overdone for the food snob in me. The seafood was way overcooked though and the shrimp was mushy and so overcooked the shells wouldn't peel. My friend's house made pasta with pesto sauce and Mushroom was just ok - I liked the shell presentation for the Parmesan but it was just too light in flavors once again. A bit on the too bland side and needed salt. My other friend had the seafood vegetable spaghetti - tasted like an olive wine sauce, again not my favorite. This was the first place however that served these fresh made round bread/biscuits! They were good cause they were fresh off the girdle and so warm. Apparently you're suppose to cut them in half and stuff them with cured meats and cheeses to make a sandwich. Guess I have to try that next time! read more

Last dinner in Cinque Terre. I will be missing all this fresh seafood for sure. The service was fantastic here. Our waiter was so friendly and came by a couple of times to clear dishes and bring hot bread! Which was at no cost. We were seated right away but we came just when they opened for dinner service. Only after 15-20 the place was packed and people were waiting. Make reservations if your more than two people. The food was so good. I ordered "seafood spaghetti " but it was written in Italian in pen on the menu; must be just added. It was a mountain of seafood and a bit of noodles. The sauce was so good and the seafood as usual was fresh and good variety. My friend had the prawn ravioli which was stuffed with prawns and had three giant prawns on top. This restaurant served us the best meal of our Northern Italy trip. We had stops in Lake Como, Tuscany and Cinque Terre We made reservations online and were promptly sat at our assigned time. The host was slightly like Seinfeld's soup Nazi but thankfully we had a wonderful waitress. We shared a carpaccio salad that was delicious. I could of had just that but of course I ate more. I ordered the Baked seafood and fish platter. It was delicious and tremendous amount of food. My husband had the ravioli with shrimp. He said it was delicious too. Our best dinner in Italy! Da Eraldo makes the best pesto, hands-down, and at reasonable prices. To start, we had the spaghetti al pesto and the tomato, pesto, Parmesan salad. The salad comes with an amazingly flavorful Parmesan crisp. Then, we had the sea bass which was also covered in blistered Parmesan and capers, with side salads, and the papardelle bolognese. Everything, especially the pasta, was so fresh. And, you can easily book a reservation online in advance - which you definitely should do, as this place fills up. Fantastic place to eat. It is kinda small so make sure to make a reservation. You can make one the day of. They only have 3 timings. 5, 7, and 9PM. We chose the 9pm and drank wine at a wine bar across from the restaurant which was amazing. All the good was very flavourful. We got the seafood special, lasagna, and another pasta dish. The seafood was cooked very well. The lasagna was amazing. It had pesto on it which is the best pesto I've had. Great first meal in Italy!! We arrived at just before 6 and they were just setting up for dinner. We lucked out bc they only take reservations for 6:30 and they just had a cancellation. The place is really small only three tables in the inside and maybe four tables outside. Definitely not the place for big groups. Service was fantastic. The two servers were great at explaining the items and checked in on us every once in a while. We got the mixed seafood antipasto platter to start. AMAZING!! Our server recommended us to try the different dishes in a certain order to best bring out the unique flavours of each dish. The mixed seafood antipasto came out in two parts . The first was the cold antipasto which had some delicious octopus salad and the second part was cooked seafood with prawns, white fish, and mussels. We also ordered the pasta trio to share. It included paparadelle with seafood, pesto lasagna and some other type of wheat pasta with walnut sauce. All of which was quite tasty. The meal also came with their signature homemade bread. We were so impressed with this place we came back our last night and had the meat and vegetable antipasto for one and we split it. We also ordered the spaghetti bolognese and the spaghetti carbonara which were also delicious. Their tiramisu is also very very good, but they don't make it on site. I think they get it from a bakery close by. Reservations are an absolute MUST at this place if you want to ensure a spot. This was one of the best meals we had in Italy! We went for lunch because we heard that it's hard to get a table at for dinner. First off, we got the antipasto plate. It was OUT of control. Like, I am ruined. Now that I'm back in the US, I have not enjoyed a meal! This plate was so fresh and so delicious. You must try it. Also, the pesto is phenomenal, but I wish they gave more pesto on it because that went fast. This is a huge portion. For two of us, we had to cancel one of our two pasta dishes because it was so filling and we had tons left over. The bread they give with the antipasto plate is like the best bread I've ever had. It is crispy on the outside, flat, but somehow soft on the inside. Like I said, I'm ruined. We also had the pesto (traditional) lasagna, which was delicious also. It's a must try. Tiramisu for dessert was the perfect end. Shout out to Philip(sp?). He was such a good server and so patient with all the tourists. Are you spending the night in Monterosso or simply day tripping? Either way, you MUST stop in for a meal at Da Eraldo! The night my friends and I arrived in Monterosso, we sought out this place based on Yelp and Trip Advisor reviews. It took us some time to find it, but boy were we glad when we did! We ordered the antipasto for 2 to split among 6 of us and we went at that thing like a pack of wolves. Every bite was delectable. Luckily, we also all ordered pasta to fill us and we shared and sampled among everyone's. My two favorite picks were the pesto lasagna and the walnut gorgonzola pasta. We also enjoyed talking to Philipo, who recognized us when we came back (yes) for a second meal. He was very sweet and eager to please. The price is also right here. One word...fantastic! More words...run to da Eraldo for a meal you will love! We stopped in for lunch and understandably there was a wait since there are just 8 tables to be seated and just two people working...the chef and a waiter. We wandered for a few minutes then came back to wait and had probably 12+ people inquire about seats. Lesson: stay around if you want to have killer food. We had their house white which is just 5 euro a half liter and made just for them. I love wine and would gladly drink more of it. It was light and refreshing yet with enough substance to enjoy with a meal. We had their pasta as its all handmade. One dish was the pesto Paparadelle and the other the Paparadelle with seafood and vegetables. Of course the noodles were fantastic. As we started eating we thought "there's just a slight flavor here" then as our palates adjusted we realized we were having full on fantastic seasoning sans loads of salt. It was truly sublime (and our blood pressure says thanks!). It's amazing what your tastebuds can pick up when they aren't fighting through salt and artificial junk. Don't forget the bread!!! It's round flattened pieces of delicious all cooked at the time you arrive. These could seriously make some awesome pocket snacks for tomorrow's hike! On top of the great food the service and ambience were top notch. Andres is fabulously friendly and helpful. You won't even notice he's the only person waiting on the whole restaurant. I will remember this meal for one reason: the first time in my life sending a meal back. We walked by this place during lunch and it looked stellar, so we wanted to go for dinner. Now here's the rub, I can't tell who to actually blame for this review. There was a big rain storm the night we were going to eat dinner here, so the waiter said that they'll move inside at the owner's other place. So he guides us and another group over to Hotel Marina(?). I asked if it was the same menu as Da Earldo and he said yes. The menu didn't specify any name. Regardless. We ordered our dishes...a carbonara and a pappardelle seafood pasta. All you have to do now is look at the pictures I've attached. The owner/chef should have been ashamed to serve up carbonara that was basically scrambled eggs on pasta. This is what my carbonara looked like the first time I made it...because I was an amateur and f'd up. To then have the waiter come out and explain that this is what carbonara is like was the next rub. Poor kid. Anyone who is willing to rip off someone because you have tourists speaks volumes about a tourist town. I doubt anything is authentic here, or most places we went to in the area. Amazing little place in Monterosso! We walked by while searching for places to have dinner and while they didn't have a table for six available at that time, they took our name down and said to come back around 9 pm. When we arrived, there was a cute "reserved" sign on the table outside, where we were quickly seated. We ordered their mixed plate appetizer, but because it's typically for two, they said it would just be a little more to make it a bit larger. So, considering all of us have stomachs that resemble bottomless pits, we thought, "Hell yah! Larger plate." Oy. "Larger plate" was GIGANTIC. There was a moment when I think we were all mentally preparing ourselves and coming up with some sort of game plan on how to tackle the beast. The starter board was delicious and was a great compliment to the (hot out of the oven) bread they brought to the table. We all ordered their homemade pasta (Tris di Testaroli), which came with three sauces (pesto, oil and parmesan, and mushroom). A must to visit when travelling to Cinque Terre!! We arrived in Monterosso starving and went straight to this restaurant. It was full when we arrived. Keep in mind there is only about 10 tables. Luckily we waited around and got a table as this was one of the best Italian meals I have had! We ordered the meat and cheese platter to start (4 meats, 4 cheeses, pesto, grilled vegetables, grapes). I cannot race enough about the bread. It's like homemade patties of crunch on the outside and soft in the inside. Goes great with the meat and cheese. We also ordered a side of fresh pesto pasta. This was more than enough food for two people and to top it off, a litre of wine was only $5 euros! I definitely recoupment checking this place out. Perfect last meal in Italy! We had the Ligure (Tomato, olive, and pesto) and an assorted seafood appetizer. The Ligure was delicious and very satisfying. This place was amazing. We came at the right time before the dinner rush but it always seemed to be busy. The spaghetti bolognese was pretty average but the carbonara was out of this world and you can see them making the pasta behind you. It's a bit hard to get a table here. I question whether the 72 positive reviews is driving some people here. I think they cook until they are tired and then they put a sign up that saying that they are full "Siamo ai Completo!" This happened to us at 8pm on a Tuesday night. It might also be that many other restaurants are closed on Tuesdays. Service is decent - typical pace for Italia. Ivan was very nice server and is under contract for this season. This area is like most resorts - workers come for a "season". Oddly, Ivan's previous job was at the Italian Pavillion at EPCOT in DisneyWorld in Florida! The menu has an explanation that this restaurant opened after the 2011 floods with a goal to serve local food. Therefore, the menu changes frequently. In fact, they were out of one of the items we wanted. The menu has many typical italian dishes. I can't eat the way the Italians do with five courses. I am lucky to get a Pasta and Secondi down and we typically share a dessert. All four of us had the pappardelle - one with pesto, one with bolognase, mine with carbonara and one with prawns. We shared a dory fish. They have arguably the nicest wine glasses I was served with in Italia. I am pretty sure they were real crystal! read more

Great experience here! We came the day after we hiked the cinque terre but came specifically back to Monterosso to explore and come here for dinner. This little gem is worth the wait. We definitely needed a reservation, which was easy to do online. I was hoping for an outdoor table, but our party of five was too big for the outdoor tables to accomodate. Instead, they gave us a table just inside, which was cozy and comfortable, and still got plenty of fresh air from the wide open doors and windows. The menu first appeared tiny but actually had plenty of options. We tried the meat ravioli, along with several of the homemade fresh pastas and sauces. Each was more delicious than the last. Most restaurants around here give you a paper bag filled with sliced bread that is quite ordinary. This place had a huge bonus - they bring each table a platter of small piping hot pieces of bread that channel small hunks of baked pizza dough - crispy on the outside, with soft hot dough on the inside - served with a spoon full of flavorful salted olive oil to dip the bread in. We happily polished off two plates of this treat. We also really enjoyed sharing a half liter of delicious, inexpensive local red wine. The staff was kind, friendly, patient and welcoming, as was the chef who was visible through a window into the kitchen. Highly recommend! We'd love to come back soon! read more

Made this a "must" on our trip because of everyone's yelp/tripadvisor comments about the charcutrie plate. The man thing ordered the charcutrie platter for 1 (12 euro, vs 20 for the plate for 2). This was amazing, and man thing is still talking about it as one of his favorite meals on the entire trip. I ordered the pesto lasagna. That's right. A lasagna made of pasta sheets, pesto, and melted cheese. Holy sh*t. This is not a thing that you should eat if you are on a diet. In other news, if you are on vacation in the Cinque Terre and on a diet, you should probably go sit in the corner and reconsider your life. We also ordered our go-to, an 8 euro bottle of delicious wine. God I love Italy. Word of advice: Get reservations in the morning (or even the day before, if they take them). If you don't have reservations, we generally found that booked-out restaurants start to have openings around 9-9:15. read more
