If you're ever in Rome, you have to check out Da Pancrazio. My husband and I had dinner here, and it was one of the most unique dining experiences we've ever had. We were seated downstairs in this incredible section of the restaurant that's built right into ancient ruins--how often can you say you've had dinner surrounded by literal history? The vibe down there was cozy but so cool at the same time. The food? Absolutely amazing. My husband went for the pasta with oxtails, and it was rich, hearty, and full of flavor--basically comfort food, Roman-style. I had the white truffle pasta, and wow...it was divine. The truffle aroma hit the second it got to the table, and every bite was creamy, earthy, and just perfect. Honestly, I didn't want it to end. The service was friendly and unhurried, which was nice because we just wanted to soak in the whole experience. Between the food, the ambiance, and the history, this place is a total gem. If you're looking for a memorable dinner in Rome, Da Pancrazio should be at the top of your list!

The food here was super super good. We came here because we heard Julius Caesar died here or near here. The food looks simple but it was surprisingly rich, filling and a good amount of portion. We got an aperol spritz which was delicious and red wine which was equally good. I'd recommend going here for a delicious and elegant meal in Rome with historical relevance.

    3euro charge for water

Very nice staff, but maybe the worst food in Rome. My stuffed zucchini flowers tasted like fried cat food. The Melanzane was smothered in an inedible and inexplicable white sauce. I was also charged 3euros for tap water. Say hi to the lovely staff then keep walking

Really unique restaurant with so much history built on the ruins of the Theater of Pompey and generations of classic Roman dishes passed down. Hands down one of the most delicious dishes I've had in Italy was the delicate ricotta Tortello with saffron cream sauce guanciale and shaved truffles. The carciofo alla romana and meatballs with red sauce were also delicious. Friend had the polpo and also loved it

Ok place would have given 2 1/2 stars. The fried zucchini flower was good. The fried artichoke was good also but it one came as one artichoke which I think it should have at least 2. The rigatoni carbonara was undercooked, not al dente. The spigethi cacio e pepe was good but over salted. The chicken Romana was ok as a stew, waiter mention 2 pieces I got 1and the meatballs were good. I went there for the fried zucchini and hoping everything else would be to that standard.

Excellent service, tasty food and amazing history and atmosphere! We had a huge group and reserved the basement where you can dine among the ancient ruins! Such a cool atmosphere and excellent service by multiple waitstaff. The antipasto was delicious, better than my pic does justice. Mussels and clans were also divine. Loved the grilled octopus, salad was meh. Meatballs, Fetuccini and Rigatoni were all delicious. Everything was a very traditional Roman preparation that you will see in many restaurants throughout the city. If you want unique, frou-frou Michelin food, go elsewhere. This is very family friendly, big portion platters of comforting Roman home-style food served expertly in an absolutely unforgettable location. Good wine selection also. Make sure you book the basement if you can!

The dish on the top is the meatballs and on the bottom is the cacio e pepe.

Ristorante Pancrazio was a delight in every way we had hoped. Things I loved: 1) Our server! He was friendly and put up with my so very sad attempt at ordering in Italian. He was attentive yet allowed us space to enjoy the evening together (my husband and I, that is). 2) The food! It was perfect. We had prosciutto and melon. The melon was perfectly ripe and the prosciutto was tender and freshly cut (I've had it when it was a bit older and it gets dried out so that's why I think it was freshly cut - I probably don't know what I'm talking about here but the end idea is that it was delicious). We then shared the meatballs and the cacio e pepe (cheese and pepper on pasta). These were so so good. Then we shared a tiramisu. It was just perfectly sweet but not too sweet. 3) We enjoyed the wine (perhaps too much). I really do not have any critical feedback to share. We had a lovely time and would definitely go back!!

i wandered into this restaurant while exploring the Campo area. I was seated at an outside table and pretty much ignored. Two other tables were seated and orders taken when I asked if I had a waiter. After about 15 minutes, the waiter brought water. I ordered a glass of wine and got a menu. Long story shortened, the fried artichoke I ordered was delivered after 20 minutes. The main course never arrived. As bread, wine and artichoke finished, I noticed people who were seated after me settling bill and leaving. When I asked after the main, told it would be a bit. Finally, starving, I asked for the bill so I could find another restaurant. The waiter looked incredulous. however returned in seconds with my main. i declined and explained that people had come and gone while I waited and I had lost my appetite for this particular restaurant This is my sixth or seventh trip to Rome and I have never encountered such service. i am not sure why I was singled out for such treatment. age? solo woman traveler? who knows? But avoid at your peril. Wine was table quality, artichoke was overcooked, bread was passable, but had to request olive oil and plate.

We were curious after reading about the restaurant sitting on the old ruins of the Teatro . The food was better than expected. The Fettuccini with mussels was cooked to the perfect texture of our liking, (my husband enjoyed the pasta here) The pollo was a little dry but the tomato sauce helped. We had just a glass of the house wine, nothing fancy. Service was fast as we were the only table for dinner at 7 pm Do go downstairs after your meal to check out the ruins, and take a picture . We did.

Review # 1200 After…read moresome shopping on the Via cola Di Riemzo, we were ready for lunch. This spot was a Yelp find. We arrived just before they opened at 12:30. We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

I had possibly the most amazing chick food pasta a girl could imagine. Girls know what girl food is. The pasta in Italy is just better -obviously. But then put all sorts of girl flavors on it like Lemon and Orange, just lightly enough, zest with a small hint of cheese-..... omgosh. Yes, yes, and yes. Need my hubs to replicate at home. He is going to be busy trying to perfect this. Tagliatelle with orange and lemon parmesan. This was it. It was the best. Everything else we ordered was amazing as well. Wait outside. They don't have a sign telling you to wait, no server telling you to wait. You wait out there, wondering if you're in the right place, but then people stand behind you and you're like - oh! I'm here. This is the place. There are possibly 4 tables inside. It's small. I read about them being rude- we did not have that problem. In fact, they made a mistake and we kindly let them know we ordered something else- they corrected it and were nice about it.

So happy we did as this place definitely delivers. There is seriously like 8 tables in the dining room so expect a wait in line but trust me, it's worth it. We waited outside for about 25 minutes. They do take your order while in line so the wait for food (once you do get a table) is abbreviated. Out of the world pastas and the pistachio tiramisu is seriously out of this world. Inexpensive table wine rounds out a great meal. This is the type of place I love to go to. It's quaint, zero pretense and delivers on its food. A great find!
