10/10 experience. Alla Rampa completely exceeded my expectations. I ordered the FETTUCCINE ALFREDO made with just fettuccine, butter, and parmesan, and WOW. Proof that when simple ingredients are done right, the result is pure perfection. The pasta was perfectly cooked, incredibly creamy without being heavy, and the parmesan flavor was rich, silky, and absolutely heavenly. Every bite melted in my mouth. No extras needed, no distractions, just flawless execution. This is classic Roman-style comfort food at its best. One of the best pasta dishes I had in Rome and a place I'd return to without hesitation. Rating: 10/10

In Rome today on business for the next three days and went to one of my favorite restaurants for a quick lunch service is always excellent. The ambience is beautiful. It's like being in a little village and the food is the same as I've been coming here for five years to me that's important and the pricing is really good. It doesn't put a stress on your pocketbook.

Salmon - 6/10 - had big bones in it and lacked flavor

My family and I decided to have a late lunch at Alla Rampa after visiting the Spanish Stairs. To say that I am disappointed is an understatement. I wanted to try out a restaurant that served steaks because I wanted a break from the Pastas and Pizzas. Ah man what a huge mistake that was... The server was clueless and didnt know what was good on the menu. He brought the food out then disappeared for a while until it was time for us to get the cheque. The restaurant is nice and we sat on the patio for lunch. Vibe was okay. Overall Food & Vibe 4/10

We have been coming here for at least 20 years and I've always enjoyed the buffet, alas, no more buffet. But times change. We had a good meal, but service was slow, but yes, it is Italy and therefore to be expected.

My cousin's husband is from Rome and recommended Alla Rampa and it did not disappoint! There were 12 of us and the accommodated us inside during the oppressive heat last week in Rome. Food was delicious and drinks were good! Definitely check them out AND they're a very short walk from The Spanish Steps!

i dined alone without reading prior reviews save for the recommendation of a friend who gave me a long list of Roman restaurants. It is pricey for sure but the waiters are seasoned and look dapper in their white jackets and black bow ties. I had the Carpaccio di Manzo with rucola e parmigiano. The portion was generous and with great balance of flavors. My main was the Spaghetti Vongole which I ate every last noodle of. It was superb. not very heavy as other roman pastas tend to be - the sauce was quite delicate and refined in fact. I am seeing a lot of negative reviews on the service. Fortunately for me I was treated with much courtesy and attentiveness. even jovial with each other, with other customers and with me. I will surely recommend and return as well.

Being seated inside was a very refreshing touch to the area around. Fitting in around the atmosphere was a fancy touch by the waiters and servers in great clothing and great personality's. The service was very good, straight to orders and very fast about getting us our food. Heading into the food portion was 5 great spaghettis. A great marinara and basil touch to the tender spaghetti. A good ratio of sauce to pasta as well. If the bread was a little softer then I would be able to dip and eat with the sauce but kind of hard which is docking it a little bit. Overall good restaurant with good food and service. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a well prepared meal and a fun sight inside.

    Bruschetta was very good

Can't find too many dishes in Roma that is vegan .ah well so be it. The pasta was al dente. With porcini mushrooms. My favorite dish in Roma . Nice meaty texture of the mushrooms made my night . And the bruschetta was made with fresh tomatoes. Mmm good . A tip while traveling here .ive noticed some places charge a service fee to dine. So now you know .this place doesn't. The service wasn't that attentive.

    Dessert

Everything we ate was delicious! The best tiramisu! Was within walking distance from our hotel which made it even better. Listened to an opera singer performing outside. Dreamy!

There is a restaurant on the same corner with the same name so make sure you end up at the right place. There is always a woman in the front window rolling out fresh pasta so you know it's legit. This place is very popular so you should expect to have to wait in a line outside for a table, trust me it is worth it. The waitstaff keeps things moving and are very organized so just be patient. I ordered an Aperol Spritz and water for drinks. The cocktail was a nice size, well balanced, and I loved the branded glass. It was very hot outside so appreciated the cold drinks and AC units. We also ordered a side of bread to share, which of course comes with olive oil and balsamic, so we could soak up every ounce of the delicious pasta sauces. The bread crust was crispy and warm and inside soft, perfect. So many pasta options on the menu. Every dish I have tried has been spectacular, but I decided to get the Carbonara again as it was my favorite last time. The sauce is rich and decedent, the noodles are a thicker type and perfectly al dente, and the pancetta and cheese on top adds lovely saltiness. It's so satisfying. You will be full after you devour every bite so you don't need the Second course. We couldn't even do dessert. Osteria da Fortunata has multiple locations and open late, so I highly recommend you try them when visiting Rome. This is a town of amazing food, but here really just hits the spot!

Very Disappointing Experience - Osteria da Fortunata, Pantheon Location…read more We have visited Rome several times and have eaten at Osteria da Fortunata della Cancelleria on Via della Cancelleria. During our previous visits, we had excellent experiences with both the food and the customer service, which is why tonight's experience was especially disappointing. We ordered the carbonara and spaghetti, and unfortunately, the pasta was undercooked, very chewy, and cold. It was not at all the quality we had experienced during our previous visits. When we asked the waiter to take the carbonara back because it was not edible, his attitude was extremely disappointing. Rather than offering to replace the dish or addressing our concern professionally, he told us that the manager had approved it and that we could simply take the food home. What made the experience even worse was the atmosphere of this location. The restaurant felt more like a factory than an authentic Italian dining experience. We noticed the staff using walkie-talkies to communicate with the host, and as soon as customers left their tables, the waiter would communicate with the host to immediately send new customers in to fill the space. It gave us the impression that the priority was turning tables over as quickly as possible rather than providing guests with a pleasant dining experience. The constant rush was noticeable and took away from what should have been an enjoyable meal in Rome. It is very unfortunate because we have visited Osteria da Fortunata several times in the past and genuinely enjoyed both the food and the service. Tonight, however, the cold and poorly cooked pasta, the attitude of the waiter, and the rushed, factory-like atmosphere made this a very disappointing experience.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.

The woman at the embassy assured me the Norwegian salmon supply was fine. That surprises me given all the salmon that was on my wife's pizza.
