We came to Virginiae our last night in Rome after seeing it recommended and was by our Airbnb, and it ended up being a perfect final dinner. It's a classic-style Italian restaurant but cozy and a bit tight inside, but the table they gave us was tucked in the corner and comfortable. We started with a bottle of red wine that our server recommended, which was surprisingly affordable and really good. The meat and cheese plate we shared was a solid start, and for the main course I went with the pesto pasta, which was great. I also tried my friend's lasagna and honestly, it completely blew me away, nothing like the heavy American-style version. Easily one of the best lasagnas I've ever had. If I came here again I'd order that no doubt. Overall, great spot if you're looking for a traditional Italian sit-down dinner without paying crazy prices. While simple, they added some nice little seasoning on there for some extra freshness and flavor. Saltimbocca alla Romana (€18) - A Roman specialty, this dish of marinated veal with prosciutto on top was tender and tasty. The sage also added some additional fragrance. Bucatini all'amatriciana (€16) - Classic Roman preparation. While it wasn't that memorable, it was still good. The staff here are very friendly and the service speed is pretty quick. We have had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant every time we are in Rome. Heman was our server and did a great job of taking care of us. We wanted to introduce a new friend of ours to Virginae. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance. We had made a reservation on The Fork for 7:30 PM, and they had a table ready for us when we arrived. We had a lovely, quiet corner table. What is so nice about dining in Italy is that you are never rushed. We proceeded to have the most leisurely dinner. Our friend started with a glass of Prosecco. My husband ordered a bottle of red wine to complement our dinners. We enjoyed the following for our entrees: Fettucine al Ragu, Mezze Pacchieri alla Gricia, and Saltimbocca alla Romana. Oh my, we were all thrilled with our dinners. Heman gave us the time to sit and chat without interruption, which we so appreciated. We all thoroughly enjoyed dining at Virginiae. Since this is one of our favorite restaurants, we came back in February. This is one of our favorite restaurants, so we go several times when we are in Rome. Truly a gem, maybe not so hidden! It can't be with food like that! We had a wonderful experience at Virginae. This was our first dinner in Rome. It really set the tone! We made reservations weeks in advance since we had a large party. Not sure if that's always necessary but I would recommend. The welcome was warm and the place was so unique. The layout was very clean and loved the design of the restaurant. The service was fantastic and the food was just as good. Not one of us had a bad dish. We tried most of the menu but by far for me the artichokes. I wish I had come back and ordered again. I also did. But no time. It was the best artichoke I have ever had! Yum! I saw prosciutto di melon and osso bucco on the menu and knew it was going to good. This was hands down the second best meal we ate the entire trip. We ordered a prosciutto di melon because Yelp BFF has never tried it. We also ordered the osso bucco and ravioli with sage and butter sauce. The prosciutto di melon (prosciutto and melon) also came with arugula. Since it was winter, they supplemented cantaloupe for one in season. The three simple ingredients paired together very well. The osso bucco was melt in your mouth tender. Each piece came with bone marrow that tasted like heaven. The pasta was light, fluffy and packed with flavor. I'm still dreaming about the osso bucco. There were so many places close by our hotel to eat! I'm so glad that a friend recommended this! My yelp bff said I had to try this proscuitto and melon dish and I'm so glad I had it! I was told normally it's done with cantaloupe but since it isn't in season when we went we got it with a melon instead. It wasn't even on the menu so guess just gotta be in the know! We came here on our first full day in Rome as part of our 2 week trip to Italy. And honestly, I think the food we had here was one of the best meals of our entire trip, so we were starting off our vacation strong. We quickly learned that dinner reservations were a thing in Rome, and were lucky to snag a table via Trip Advisor. This was probably my most favorite restaurant during our time in Rome, primarily because we were just blown away by the quality of the food and the ambience. We were seated outside near one of the bubbling water fountains, and the night breeze was just lovely. We shared a starter with the cold cut meats, cheese, and variety of sauces/bread. Our favorite restaurant in Rome in our whole trip. Everyone was skeptical of the red radish ravioli, and it ended up being the best dish at the table! Someone in our party even took their original order to go and placed an order for the ravioli instead. It's a creamy, rich, delicious pasta that makes you want more and more. Finally, our first meal in Rome. We dined outside at Virginiae, a restaurant that Nancy made reservations at months ago, using the Italian app, The Fork. What we did was make a list of restaurants we wanted to try, then checked the individual restaurant's websites, to see what app you could make reservations on. The Fork was by far the better choice. As an aside, this City is crowded (July 2, 2022), to the point that if you do not have dinner reservations, often weeks ahead, you don't get in. At the nice places, anyway. We started our meal by sharing a tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad (€10). This salad included Large Capers, as opposed to the small capers we see at home. I've seen then on FoodTV, but hadn't tried them before. They were delicious, pickled, very much like green olives, without the pit. For pasta, we had the Carbonara (€13), and the Amatriciana (€13). These are two of the four classic Roman pastas. We certainly will be trying the other two (Cacao e Pepe and Alla Gricia) soon ... maybe tonight. This pasta is life changing, by far the best we have had on this trip. I can't say I have a favorite, because they are so different, and each is sooo goood. Service is Italian Attentive, meaning ... relaxed ... and very good, and the Staff were friendly and accommodating. An excellent start to our Roman Holiday. Five Stars. read more

For our first (and only) night in room, we ate at Virginiae which was the perfect choice. We were able to reserve a table outside on a beautiful warm Roman night, and the food was delicious. We ordered the bruschetta and caprese to start - both starters were large. I particularly enjoyed the bruschetta which included a variety of different types of bruschetta. For the pasta, we had the spaghetti alla carbonara and the ossobucco. The spaghetti alla carbonara was decadent and light at the same time; while I enjoyed the ossobucco, I would have taken a double order of spaghetti alla carbonara over the ossobucco. For dessert, we had the tiramisu which the waiter said was the best in Rome; I didn't have all of the tiramisus in Rome but it was my second tiramisu of the day, and Virginiae's was outstanding. My friend and I have been traveling around Europe for the past month and we were SO excited to finally have some Italian food. As our first few attempts had proven a little unsatisfying, we went to TripAdvisor for some good help and were brought to this restaurant that many reviews claimed to be "the best." I ordered the mushroom pasta and the lamb, and my friend the burrata and carbonara. The food was definitely yummy but the service there was terrible. We were warmly welcomed by the kind staff-- they gave lovely recommendations and were charming to talk to. However, our waiter forgot about us (and admitted it!). We waited for over an hour combined to get our leftovers packaged and to receive the check. We ended up getting up from the table and asking the cashier for the bill on our way out. I so badly wanted to enjoy the experience. Not that we expected anything free after this, but it would have left a better taste in our mouths if they had removed the wine from the bill as compensation for the lost time. The appetizer burrata came with pickled veggies which was a good surprise, tanginess cutting the creaminess of the cheese.
