We've come here quite a few times during our 2 month work trip for happy hour. It's a beautiful view and normally great service. however, during our recent visit we witnessed one of the chefs talking very poorly about their staff and customers. We always love to support small businesses everywhere we travel to. However, we will no longer be supporting or recommending this place if that's how they treat their employees. Sad to hear because our server/bartender was very accommodating. I hope they find people who appreciate their employees and can learn how to be more professional. read more

Aloha Vibes is a must visit. It's a small restaurant with a fantastic view of the ocean. We started with the edamame & shrimp ceviche and it was the perfect way to start. Both dishes were packed with flavor. The coconut shrimp and fish tacos were just as amazing! But the star of the night was the chef's special Swordfish. It was cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful and one of the best swordfish meals I've had in a very long time. The quality of the food , the fresh ingredients and attention to detail really stood out. Highly recommend trying but make reservations! read more

Came here for dinner last week and enjoyed the sunset. Service is so friendly. It's a small restaurant but the sunset makes it worth the wait (or planning ahead with a reservation). Food was good, not great, but I was hungry and I enjoyed my burger! My friend had the chicken wings app and wasn't that thrilled. Had to wait nearly half an hour due to a staff meeting, which, sadly, cut deep into happy hour. We were seated just in time to place our first order and score a discount on pupus. Be sure to request inside seating if you prefer not to be too toasty on the patio at sunset. However, the view is stunning! Props for stocking Lanikai's shave ice seltzer (although it's not part of the happy hour offerings). It's so delicious! Food is always plated beautifully, from the dynamite fries (which lived up to their name although they're not spicy) to the kalua pork plate. The lilikoi bbq sauce did not taste like lilikoi, but the wings were crisp and not greasy. We did take out for entrees - they didn't have potato salad (on a Friday night?! ) and I was promised some cucumber salad instead but didn't get it. A mixed experience. read more

Our last night in Kona and we wanted to catch the sunset however we didn't make any reservations. Located on Alii drive we made it right on time for seating because they got busy and only took reservations after we got seared. They have a small bar area, outdoor ocean sunset seating and indoor. We had a party of 3 and sat indoor, the workers were super friendly and working hard. My mom got a ginger lemon tea, we got the kimchi sampler, vegetable chuka soba, and my dad wanted the papaya salad but they were out so he just got a side of grilled shrimp and white rice. Service was quick, there are TVs inside, great Hawaiian music and nice vibes. Would recommend making a reservation if you can. Nice spot to chill and enjoy the sunset by the ocean. read more

First off, our server was amazing! She was so sweet, very attentive! We agreed she delivered elite service. I'm so sorry I don't know her name, but I know she created the Mother's Day cocktail!! The view is amazing. This restaurant is not pretentious at all, which is crazy since it provides spectacular outdoor seating. We were supposed to be there for sunset but had to change our plans so we were there too early for sunset. But I guarantee that's a killer view. Our drinks were great! My friend ordered the old fashioned special and he loved it. I got the special mule and that was refreshing. The food: the kalua pork plate needed more flavor. It wasn't as juicy and flavorful as I'm used to for kalua pork. We put some of the sauce from the dynamite fries on there and that was great! But still not the kalua pork plate we were looking for. The ahi tuna was a very solid dish. The ahi was very thin, I've never had it that thin, so it was a little uneven on the cook, some parts were a little too cooked, but it had great flavor! My friend had never fried ahi before and loved it. The dynamite fries with kalua pork was a home run! Wow! Those fries were DELECTABLE! I would come back just for the fries! They really really made something incredible with those. We ended up throwing our leftover kalua pork into the fries and couldn't be happier with had decision. I highly, highly recommended Aloha Vibes. It has become my favorite place to go for food & drinks & dessert. Almost all seats have an ocean view in this boutique restaurant and bar. They are always improving their menu and offering new dishes. The cocktails are creative and taste amazing. Same with mocktails. On Friday nights they have a small music combo performing and they have a dinner special, like steak & lobster. Friday nights are a good time to go, as is just about any other time they are open. Wonderful views of the sunset from the deck! There's a big bar and many small sit down tables to enjoy your food. The noise level depends on the patrons - we had a few loud ones, but it was fine. The service was friendly and engaging. We had the macadamia nut chicken which was excellent. The shrimp was really tasty, too. Items are served family style or individual style as a plate. I didn't know they charged $8 to make it a plate. That means you get two scoops of rice and a scoop of potato salad. It seems like a very high surcharge. Suddenly your $26 item is now $34. I was disappointed in spending $16 on rice and potato salad. I didn't see that charge on the menu - just the bill. Aloha Vibes indeed! We stayed down the road and happened across Aloha Vibes within this local mall along the sea. We stopped in for some small bites after a hike and this was the perfect place. The place was spot clean and looked great with an amazing view! The music was in tune with the atmosphere and the service was friendly and helpful. Now to the food... dynamic fries were excellent, great crunch and just the right amount of sauce to remain well balanced. Kalua pork spring rolls, these were okay, a bit soggy with all the cabbage and in the piece I had I didn't taste any pork. Spicy Korean style wings were excellent. Don't let the spicy part scare you, I didn't taste much spice but the flavor and crunch of the wings was perfect. read more

I was really looking forward to enjoying a relaxing dinner and the beautiful Kona night, but my experience at Aloha Vibes was disappointing from the moment we arrived. The hostess clearly saw us standing there, yet chose not to acknowledge us at all. We waited awkwardly at the front, unsure if we should keep standing or leave, as she made no effort to greet or seat us. It felt like we were being deliberately ignored. After an uncomfortably long wait, she never returned, and another staff member eventually stepped in to seat us. By that point, the tone for the entire evening had already been set. As a first-time visitor to Kona, this was a terrible first impression. Hospitality is the bare minimum expectation, and being treated as if we were invisible was both frustrating and disrespectful. While the food was just okay, the service completely overshadowed it. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling unwelcome and unlikely to return. Staff at the front should be properly trained to acknowledge and seat guests. This isn't optional, it's basic service. read more

Perfect for Chef Ramsey to come and clean up this mess. First, the table was dirty amd sticky. That should have been the signal, but gave it a shot and maybe the food was good. No, not at all. Let's start with an order of tofu. It was sour and old. The waitress took it off the bill. The smash burgers was the most atrocious burger I tasted in my life. No flavor, the cheese wasn't melted. The burger must have been pre-cooked cooked and left on the side. All three burgers were like that and to top it off the the buns were stale. For $26.. u kidding me. The battered fish tacos at $18 was two little tacos and the menu says, "get another taco for $9".. huh? The fish was really bad, deep fried till it was dry and hard. Was hard to believe. The staff demeanor seemed odd.. meaning I believe they know the food wasn't any good. And to top it off, I had to pay a mandatory 20% tip, which I understand by law. I usually tip over 20%, but they needed that law for help.. lol.. if u don't try u don't know. Now I know. Had an incredible meal at Broke Da Mouth Grinds the day before. read more

Pretty bummed by this experience. I had heard good things but my experience wasn't great. I ordered the smash burger plain, clearly stated what plain meant to me, and got burger not plain. By the time my food came back out, my wife was done. To be fair, my wife did really enjoy the carpaccio, but for my burger that was mostly bun and minimal meat, a coke, carpaccio and fish, our bill was $107. Kind of absurd. Won't be going back. My family missed our flight back home to Oahu, so with no other choice we had to stay another night in Kona. It was already late, and after struggling to find a hotel to fit our family of eight, we needed somewhere to eat. By then, it was only about 30 minutes until closing, and with a big party, I knew it wouldn't be easy. As a service worker myself, I understand how stressful it is to serve a large group at the end of the night but this was the only restaurant open besides fast food. When we walked in, the waitress was extremely understanding and seated us right away. She kindly let us know the kitchen would be closing in about 10 minutes but still took all of our orders without hesitation. She was super friendly and welcoming. After such a stressful trip, especially with the tsunami warning, this dinner meant so much to my family. I truly appreciate all of the employees who made it possible for us. Everyone was generous and kind, which made the whole experience feel amazing. The food itself was delicious we ordered a lot, and every single dish was enjoyed. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. The high ratings, seafood focus, and ocean views convinced me to give Aloha Vibes a shot. We were introducing another couple to Kailua for their first visit, so a Mai Tai on the beach was imperative. The food was quite tasty and the portions were generous: The Ahi Katsu Sandwich featured a slab of fish that hung well out over the toasted brioche bun. The Fish and Chips presented 3 huge chunks of Mahi Mahi, about the size of a tooth paste box, in a light breadcrumb crust. They sat atop a mound of fresh and crisp shoestring fries. But...the tartar sauce was milky, and only filled the tiny ramekin halfway. And get this: they wanted $3 for additional sauce. $20 for the amount of fish and chips served is not too bad. Most lunch items were $20-28 which is a lot for lunch. The Mai Tais were $18...so one and done there. Great view, good food, friendly server, but not a great value. read more

I really wanted to like this place and I did like it. But, the drinks that were made by the GM were SO much better than those made by the Indian bartender. The service seemed inconsistent, people came in and disappeared. The GM's name is "G" and she is great! She took really good care of us after the day bartender got off at 4pm. We kind of waited to order our food until the day bartender was gone. She was so excited about getting off work and didn't care if we knew it. The GM said that the other bartender was skimping on the drinks because of Happy Hour. (That doesn't make it very happy, does it?) We got the sashimi trio for $40 and we got it without the seared ahi. I would have preferred half hamachi and half ahi, but we got 2/3 ahi and 1/3 hamachi and it was still very good. My friend had recommended th fries, so we got those next. The fries were perfectly cooked and plentiful, with a Japanese BBQ sauce on top. The bar faces the side of the place, so you have to twist in your seat to see the ocean. Nobody else was really in there but they were expecting a part of 12 at 5:45pm. If we are downtown again at HH time, we might stop in, but we won't make a special trip again. read more
