I picked up a massive Turkey Leg with seafood mac n jambalaya this past Saturday night. It was very well-prepared, very delicious in every bite and contained numerous flavors in one giant meal. The turkey leg was super tender n came right off the bone. The meat was consistently soft, juicy, moist, well-seasoned and smoky. The mac n cheese wasn't as creamy n thick with yellow cheddar as I normally prefer, but it was still very good from supple seasoning, crawfish n shrimp. Seafood mac is really good like this with a similar style to the one from Ruth's Chris. The shrimp n crawfish themselves even tasted good alone. The cheese with the mac didn't overpower the seafood flare and vice versa. The creole cheese sauce on the rice was very good and seasoned with a nice spice to it. The jambalaya was especially savory and flavorful with great moisture as well as seasoning obviously. In TX, this has been the best jambalaya I have had so far. The sausage pieces were tasty and a little crispy too. Great, fast service. I just discovered this place 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon from a popular reviewer and had to try it. A small establishment inside of a corner store, not too hard to find. I visited late evening so not too busy. Customer service was ok but not welcoming, had to just call out the order, only to learn what they didn't have available. The board was somewhat confusing, food items listed on the board that says out of stock but some crossed out meant they were in stock again. Overall the food was freshly prepared and hot but over seasoned. I ordered the fish and seafood rice combo. I don't usually eat tilapia as I forgot to ask what type of fish they serve. It was fried with crispy crust but the batter comes off, had it not been extremely salty I could've enjoyed it. They gave 3 fillets which was surprising but again the seasoning was overpowering it all. The combo had a few options to pair, but the seafood rice i chose was more of a sample serving with 3 fillets. So I'm glad I added another side. It always a risk with the mac and cheese because depending on what cheese, or if they make a roux or do baked mac you just have to try and see. Unfortunately it ended up being a horrible addition! Oh my gosh it was seasoned like a piece of chicken, some seasoning you can't combine if they all have salt in them. There was a viral video from an IG content creator that brought me here today! The location is a little confusing because it's in a gas station so you can only order the food to-go. I ordered the creole boat which came with fried catfish, smothered with some type of Cajun white sauce over white rice and I had a side of Mac and cheese, jambalaya and I also ordered a shrimp and crawfish egg roll. My cousin came with me and ordered the Mardi Gras pasta with a cornbread. My cousins pasta came out pretty quickly (less than 10 min) but my food took a bit longer (maybe like 15-20 min) to come out. just an fyi. So everything here genuinely taste really good. It's very well seasoned and extremely savory. I will say for my meal,the Mac and cheese was a little too saucy/runny for my liking. I prefer it to be more thicker and cheesier. I also would say the shrimp and crawfish egg roll was stuffed with a lot of rice so I feel like I didn't get as much seafood as I expected. I think the boat should come with a different side other than jambalaya because the fish is already served over rice so two servings of rice is a bit much for me. I guess I'll ask to sub it out next time. I had a bite of my cousins pasta and it was pretty good as well. Again, Very well seasoned and not too overly saucy. GAT DAMN!!! I didn't even know what flavor was before today. I can't go back to other food now because it'll all be completely tasteless. The fare at Da Seafood Connect is better than any Cajun food I've had in both Houston and Louisiana. In my experience, gas station food stalls usually hit, and Da Seafood Connect is no exception. They serve boiled crawfish on the weekends, but unfortunately, they ran out around 7:45pm on the Saturday I visited. Slightly heartbroken, I sucked it up and ordered the boudain ball, red beans and rice w/ fried chicken wings, and Mac and cheese. In about 15-20 min the food was ready. Let me tell you... I damn near crashed my car on the way home because the food smelled absolutely intoxicating. The boudain ball was INSANE - coated in Flamin' Hot Cheeto dust, crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and seasoned from end to end! And the cajun ranch it's served with takes the whole thing to another level. The red beans and rice threw my eyes into the back of my head. These were packed with more flavor than I could anticipate. The Mac and cheese was unassuming and looked like something from the drive-thru, but again, they got that the SEASONING. I'm only knocking a star because the service really left something to be desired... but that won't stop me from craving Da Seafood Connect every day. I came here for some fried fish, wings and fries last week. I came back for more fried fish, tried the shrimp and the beans and rice....came BACK AGAIN for more shrimp and fish and fries hahaha and have plenty beans and rice leftover for now. Visited the location of the one on Telephone inside the Valero gas station. The food was good but I was extremely overcharged for the food I ordered. I spoke to the owner's wife & informed her about the overcharged as well as showed her proof. She promised to get back with me with a resolution. Needless to say she never did. Because they are priced (like everything else on the menu) just right. If she had one additional person to assist her, she would be in a better mood, and that would allow her to interface with customers better.. When I made it to the car after 20 to 30 I noticed that I only had wings no shrimps. So I had to go back inside and inform her that they did not put the shrimps with my order.. For sure I had to wait an additional 20 to 30 minutes again . I really didn't care for the food at all maybe if I was to go again I would get the shrimp again along with something different . The jambalaya...if don't like this-you don't like spicy- Awesome and delicious- The red beans-not as spicy-but enough flavor to cook more rice at home and stretch the serving size!
