The Marsala Ravioli was huge. The sauce was a mild red sauce with Indian spices but definitely complimented the ravioli. Do you like or shall I say Love Authentic Italian? This is the place for you. I had the Chicken Parmesan with pasta, which was perfectly cooked. My daughter had the Gnocchi and she was in heaven. My grandson had the kids spaghetti with a side of meatballs. He loved the meatballs. We were too full for desert. Next visit is for desert. We loved the decor and were surprised to see the space. We grew up knowing it as a Friendly's, but love it as we saw it last night. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was a hiccup on an order, but was fixed. We came here for brunch, which I believe is a relatively new thing, because there was no one else in the dining room aside from us. I got the Da Vinci breakfast, and it was more food than I could handle. They also brought us bread before our meal - which was warm, soft, and crumbly, and a really nice touch. Why aren't all meals served with warm bread and olive oil? The eggs were fluffy and tasty, the sausage and bacon were scrumptious, and I already had enough bread - so we couldn't eat the extra bread they brought us (I know, who ever says they've reached their limit on bread? I have gone to Da Vinci on and off for years, last night my husband and I went for dinner, we had a reservation for three the third person canceled so we decided to sit at the bar. The female bartender was by far the worst I have ever met, mind you, I was a bartender in NYC in my youth for 20 years. This girl was only interested in the waiters and the couple next to us. We spent 225.00 on wine and dinner that was honestly tossed at us. The waitress knew I was a bit upset but at this point she couldn't fix it, I actually heard her talking about my husband and I while we sat there. I have never in my life left a 10 percent tip. I hope she feels good being the fist at something. And the jailhouse crab tattoos need to be hidden. As for the food, we took it to go, so I can't give an honest opinion on it. We will not be back! We dined at DaVinci's last night with our good friends to celebrate Valentine's Day. The food as always was delicious and the service was great! Pepe always makes his patrons feel special and the restaurant was bustling, a true testament to their food and service. The only unfortunate part of the evening was that we were seated at the table next to S.S. from Billerica. They occupied multiple tables and were horribly rude, monopolizing their tables well in excess of the allotted time. They made an embarrassing scene upon leaving. Happy to read on Yelp that S.S. and his friends won't be returning- it provides table availability for loyal customers like us who appreciate a wonderful local restaurant and consistently great food! I have been so cautious during the pandemic that I really haven't gone to eat in restaurants. Just take out and outside dining. When my husband asked what I wanted to do to celebrate Valentine's Day, I suggested we go to Da Vinci with our good friends. It felt so great to be back to our FAVORITE restaurant! Pepe was greeting his guests at the tables and gave us a huge hello when we walked in. This guy really knows and treats his customers with respect. The food was superb. We shared a mix of appetizers (arancini, burrata with prosciutto, eggplant parm) and an exceptional salad. Our entrees were varied and exceptional (mushroom gnocchi, chicken peppito, branzino, and shrimp risotto). Absolutely fabulous. For dessert, the crème brûlée is not to be missed and the molten chocolate cake is to die for! What a treat to have such a special place in the suburbs instead of having to trek into Boston. Just today, in fact, Da Vinci Bistro was featured on The Phantom Gourmet. They gushed over the mussels and the chicken parm. I called my friend to tell her we MUST go back and try those dishes next time. Every dish is a masterpiece. I guess DaVinci really is an apt name for this wonderful restaurant.. One last thing....most of the clientele is very well-heeled but last night someone named "SS from Billerica" was in the restaurant. He had a large and noisy group with him. They were disruptive and discourteous, giving the staff a hard time and posing for pictures and refusing to leave even though they had clearly finished their meal. Pepe did a masterful job managing the situation but he should not have had to deal with such ignorant people. "SS" --please stay in Billerica. We went here on a Friday night after 8pm for the first time. I could see it was a favorite place of the locals, as there was a party of 12 and the bar area full. It was nice to see such a beautifully restored ice cream place become such a great Italian restaurant and social spot. I don't usually drink wine, but seeing the glasses already on the table kind of drove each of us to order a glass of house red. It complemented the meal well, even though I decided on the red wine far before selecting entrees. Pairing is my weakness anyway. We had the risotto ball appetizer along with the house salad. Both were an adequate portion, picture perfect, and delicious with many flavors. Bread with oil was on the table as well as a large bottle of cold water. For entrees, I ordered an old standard - chicken parm, which is my standard for judging an Italian restaurant. My theory is, 'If you can't get this right, we have a problem.' The portion was large and had a side of homemade rigatoni. It looked delicious and was delicious. The sauce was complex and the and the melted cheese perfectly apportioned. The things I look for in a chicken parm are basically preparation and cooking. A good one needs to be pounded flat but not too thin. The breading needs to adhere to the chicken and perfectly cooked so it is not overly charred and not wet and pulling off, stuck to the cheese. This parm was perfectly prepared and cooked, and is the best I have found in this area. It was memorable with a panko crust. I will be craving and having this again soon. We also ordered a non-seafood, homemade pasta dish. Pretty sure it was something i couldn't pronounce but it had the word 'bolognese' in it so i knew what it was, and it was very filling and good. As for service options, they do have takeout, and delivery via an outside vendor. I would also be perfectly comfortable going here alone to sneak in a great meal. The entrees are a little higher priced than I expected, but I could only eat half of the chicken parm and pasta, and brought the other half home for the next day, so it was actually a good value overall. But really, it was only slightly higher than other local restaurants, and I must say, I'm always happy when you get what you paid for, and we did -- from convenience, atmosphere, service, and food. Everything was far above average, pushing nearly perfect, and our evening out for two with two apps, two entrees, and wine, was under $100, with tip. Service was very friendly and attentive. Our waiter brought our food to the table and the food arrived hot and noticeably arrived perfectly timed -- not too soon and not too late. Maybe because the chefs can see you at your table and how quickly you are eating. I might be over-analyzing that. I must admit I did an awful job with photos. I took none, except one of the interior so people could see what an old Friendly's can become. While the food was picture perfect and I would have enjoyed photographing it, I didn't want to draw attention with the restaurant being only about half full at the time and not conducive to sneaking a lot of photos. But I regret not doing so, because now I am talking about how good the food is, and have only a picture of a chair to show for it. If I was forced at gunpoint to come up with something that could be improved, I'd say the dessert list could improve some in two ways. One-- the desert list should be larger in physical size than it is, so they could put on paper an enticing description of each dessert. That is what I would expect so I can dream about each of them as I read the descriptions and contemplate which one or two I would like to try. Two-- there were good items on the list, such as mousse, crowne brûlée, and gelato... but no cheesecake. That is one of the other standards I use to judge an Italian restaurant. So not seeing cheesecake on the list, we had no dessert. Since we were both full, I would have probably taken a slice home and eaten later if they had it. Parking was plentiful since the restaurant is in the corner of the parking lot of a strip mall. Very easy to get to on Route 20 in Sudbury. Highly recommend calling ahead to check the wait time or reserving a table in advance, but in the event you make a trip and there is a wait but you can't wait, there are other eating options in the area, as well as a great grocery store in the strip mall. Without a doubt, Davinci is the best new restaurant to open in the area for a long time. It was a delight from beginning to end. Before I write much more, let me suggest that you download the Nowait app right now and get on the wait list. At 6pm on a Sunday, the small restaurant was full and the wait was 45 minutes. The food is tremendous. I had the cod special. The fish was excellent and cooked perfectly, but that was not the best part of the plate. The quinoa stuffed zucchini was amazing. It has a little flavor from the fish, but its own almost breaded taste. The light sauce on the side for the fish had an olive flavor that was perfect. And the unusual greens were a delight with a lemony dressing. I could not stop eating everything on my plate. For an appetizer, my wife and I shared a beet salad. It was five yellow beets in Olive oil topped with a cheese that tastes like it has a hint of horseradish. It was not overpowering. Just a slight zing. Another highlight of the table was my wife's lasagna. I do not know how to describe the sauce that was clearly made of ripe plum tomatoes. It was flavorful and filled with chunks of beef. No skimping here. The service was to notch and what I would expect from a quality downtown restaurant. There was a lot of staff, several of which were standing and waiting to meet the needs of a table. By the time I needed something, the waitstaff was already there. It took us a long time to finally try this place out. A nice summer evening, and celebrating my wife's birthday. We love Italian food, and we're hoping this place would be our new favorite. The bread and oil was special. The salads were large and delicious and beautiful. We had tagliatelle, which was out of this world, and we also tried the gnocchi and rack of lamb. Outstanding!! Have eaten there numerous times but last night was very disappointing. We always order the same drink last night it tasted terrible. Another member of our party had to order three different cocktails before one tasted okay. We ordered calamari and it was much smaller than previously, rip off. There were only two specials which was disappointing as well. We eat there frequently and the menu offers a good selection but it would be nice to have more selections. We stopped by for lunch on a Sunday after a recommendation from friends of hours. It's a small place with tables that are rather close together. We didn't feel crowded at all but if we came during dinner when it was packed that may have changed our minds. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and professional. All the staff, including the chef/owner who stopped by, were very friendly. My wife had a special which was ravioli stuffed with duck confit in a Marsala sauce. I had chicken parm. We also ordered garlic bread and arancini. All the food came out in a timely fashion. My wife's dish was simply outstanding. All the pasta was homemade and tasted amazing. My chicken parm was the best I've ever had. Cooked to perfection. The pasta that came with my chicken parm was a very tiny portion and yet I didn't feel compromised in any way. The chicken breast was huge. The arancini was very very tasty. The garlic bread was the low point I guess. Couldn't really taste the garlic. It was strange. They also give you a small bread basket with oil. But that bread was just eh. The oil wasn't flavored so it was kind of useless. Overall a very positive experience. The portion was small and about 1/3 of it was breaded jalapeño peppers, not calamari. When the waiter asked how it was I told him our impression. He said he'd pass it on and that was that. My wife had muscles and her serving size was perfect. The wine menu was good and there is a bar that could satisfy even the most picky of cocktail drinkers. Went here again Saturday and everything was GREAT! Our server ( believe his name was Aurbar ) was fantastic and answered all of our questions. Food was great - had the tanderloin and it was cooked perfectly! My wife loved her pasta as well ( she got Bolognese ). Come dessert we got the banana cake that took 15 mins! Didn't even care about the wait because it was worth it! Everyone who was working seemed happy and we're all very helpful. No one was unprofessional. We had dinner here tonight - VERY good! First: top-notch service. they even went out of their way to stabilize our table which was a bit wobbly. Love the bread, and then had the Insalata di Davinci - really good! For our main courses, my husband had the pork chop. Maybe just a bit dry, but very flavorful. The sides were great so he joined the clean-plate club. I had the very interesting Masala Ravioli, which for folks like me who like mixing up different flavors, was just great. The sauce has just a bit of heat but not 'dangerous'. I highly recommend. We sat out on the patio, which is covered and enclosed so in these times felt safe and comfortable.
