The best food and service! Chef Peppino is not only an incredible chef, but also an amazing owner. He personally comes around to greet each table! The service is always phenomenal, and it's great to see the same servers and bartenders every time we visit, it really says a lot about the restaurant and the team. Chef Peppino, Arbor and Brad, the bartender, are welcoming and so personable. The salads are always fresh and made with house-made dressings. The masala ravioli is absolutely wonderful and flavorful. Four of us arrived for a 7:30 Saturday reservation. The place was fully booked and we were put at a bar table. When we complained we were told a table would soon clear. After 15 minutes the manager offered us an apology and a glass of wine. after another 15 minutes a table cleared and we were presented gratis with two appetizers. Problems happen at restaurants, under no control by the restaurant itself (like problem diners who won't leave after they finish). The dinner I had was beyond great (pasta with clams, perfectly sauced). the Arancini appetizer was amazing, and the professionalism of the staff in managing the situation was beyond reproach. I can't get enough of the eggplant rolatini, and so I had it for dinner this time. It is perfectly seasoned perfectly breaded, perfectly cheesed up. Simply perfection on a plate, delicately adorned with his delicious red sauce. So delicate so flavorful. We shared the Arancini, fried crispy, gold and delicious. Stuffed with a big wad of mozzarella cheese. we also shared a heaping bowl of fried calamari where Chef sneaks in fried zucchini sticks, which are a zucchini version of a french fry. He should offer these as a separate appetizer, because I didn't get enough of them! DELICIOUS! For his entrée, my husband ordered one of the new kids on the block - chefs pillow, fluffy gnocchi, in a light and flavorful marsala sauce, infested with braised duck. We are one of the irregular regulars, and every time I come, I ask myself - why don't I come more often? The staff is new to me, and the bar staff still has a little bit to learn. But overall, everybody is as friendly as chef Pepino, who always comes out of the kitchen, talks to people, glows whenever he hears the mmm, ooo, aaa when we take a bite. He was shocked to see me because I hadn't been there since February! And of course he asked me if I had ordered my rolatini and assured me that there was plenty to go around! Because that's the kind of guy he is - you walk through his door and you are family. If you like eggplant parm, his eggplant dish is a delicate rendition perfectly executed. We had the Mozzarella Burrata and Meatball appetizers, Tortellini alla Vodka and Pappardelle Carbonara as our entrees, and we couldn't decide on desserts so we got THREE: Tiramisu, Chocolate Mousse, and Crème Brûlée. Everything was wonderful. Service was excellent, the chef came out to talk to tables, and the atmosphere was fun and intimate. It was a little loud, but with the lighting and decor, it still felt intimate. We can't wait to go back again! read more

What a great night out with some friends who had never been to Chef Peppino restaurant Da Vinci Bistro. Went to the restaurant had an idea what I was going to get and I ended up doing a 180 and went with the Sword Fish in instead of the Masala Ravioli Indian - Italian fusion ravioli stuffed with ricotta cheese, English peas and ginger then coated in a spicy tomato cream sauce. Finished with a curry leaf pistachio which was my 1st intention! CL Lobos got the Chicken Cordon Bleu (GF) Stuffed with Prosciutto Cotto and Fontina cheese. Served with roasted potatoes and baby carrots. Finished in a creamy lemon sauce and Shana Adams got Lamb Chops (GF) Served with a potato cake and sautéed spinach. Finished with pistachio and basil pesto. To top the dinner outting Chef Peppino ended up coming in towards the end of dinner and stopped by the table to tell us about his new cooks books yes plur he is creating and we ended up tasting and taking photos of some of his new soups for his books! Even though they were all Vegetarian Soups wow they were good! Minestrone was hearty and full of flavor. The Cauliflower soup was so silky and rich in flavor if probably eat a gallon of that but my top thus far was his Tomatoe Soup with Garlic croutons! This is the best place to eat in Sudbury. since the moment you walk in you are greeted with warmth and feel very welcomed. The food is simply outstanding. My favorite is the lamb. You can taste the fresh ingredients in every dish. Restaurant has an updated view and is very clean. The Chef comes out occasionally and greets the guests. My friend Brian offered to take me to dinner as thanks for a favor I did for him, so I traveled to Sudbury close to where he lives. He gave me two choices for dining and since I wasn't planning on cooking Italian this week, decided on Da Vinci Bistro. I have mentioned before that I am leery of Italian restaurants, because so frequently they do not meet my expectations. But this restaurant, owned by an Indian born, German trained, Italian chef, outdid itself. It is a small establishment, maybe 10-12 tables and a bar that might seat 6 and despite its name, is not ostentatious. And to lend credence to its popularity, was pretty much full - on a Tuesday night! Here is what I had: * Wild Orchid Cocktail(s) - Empress Gin, St. Germain, Lime, Simple Syrup, Rocks. Beautiful indigo wisps and lovely flavor from the elderberry liquor. So good I had two! * Homemade Bread with olive oil and garlic paste w/cheese (I added crushed hot pepper). The bread was the least interesting of everything we had, but it wasn't bad. * Eggplant Rollatini - Sliced and breaded eggplant stuffed with Ricotta & Asiago. Fried and topped with pomodoro sauce and Parmigiano. I asked for this specifically because 1.) I love everything eggplant and 2.) because I have had this many times at Luna Rossa's in Tewksbury and wanted to compare. And it compared quite favorably. The pomodoro sauce was quite nice. However it was not "rolled" and it had no asparagus which is how it's served at Luna Rossa's but it was still delicious, and I would get it again. * Beef Tenderloin - Grilled and served with mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. Finished with Chianti veal demi glaze reduction. This was one of the best beef dishes I have ever eaten (might also have been the two cocktails, lol). But seriously, this was outstanding. It was cooked *exactly* to my specifications and came with sautéed spinach, which if you haven't experienced, you don't know what you're missing, and very nice mashed potatoes. The meat was so tender I could have cut it with my fork and the demi-glaze was amazing. * Semifreddo al Limoncello - Usually I am so full after dinner that I don't get dessert, but Brian persuaded me to get one, since they were "light". Well, he was right, because we both had the frozen Limoncello. Served in a narrow parfait glass with a sprig of fresh mint, it was a delightful and refreshing and a great ending to one of the best dinners I've had in quite some time. Wait staff was great. Attentive without being overwhelming, and pleasant. Even met the owner, who was very nice. Was it expensive? What restaurant these days isn't expensive? But yes, this strayed above average in cost. But do yourself and your stomach a favor and if you're in the Sudbury area (or even if you're not), visit Da Vinci's Bistro, you won't be disappointed. read more

Fantastic food, and a quaint, comforting atmosphere. My husband and I love going to Da Vinci's and make it a point to go there at least twice a month. The service is always great, and the food never disappoints. This time around, we enjoyed the arancini, which are our favorite, and for my main course, I got the lamb chops. First time there for dinner tonight meeting friends and they knocked it out of the park! Service was excellent, cocktails, and the food...OMG. For apps we ordered meatballs( ridiculous), caesar ( fresh with anchovies) and arancini ( crispy on the outside and goey on the inside). I ordered the lamb chops with pesto creamy sauce and it was specular. My husband had the steak, he was really quiet at dinner, lol - FOOD COMA. My friends had the lasagna, putanesca and papperdelle- all so so good. As I was eating my dinner, I already had in my head- when can I come back, it's so so good and it's been a while to get such excellent food, service, the owner also came by to greet us- such a nice guy! The food was delicious, great service from our waiter Aaron, Chef Peppino came out to check in our table, and the place was accessible for people with walkers and/or canes. The ambiance was relaxing. The place filled up not long after our arrival. We didn't feel rushed during our visit. The lighting was a bit on the dimmed side, since we were seated in the back, which led some people in our party to use the flashlights on their phones to read the menu, but otherwise an amazing dining experience. Both excellent & the swordfish dish was the best meal out I've had in some time. My only complaint would be the bread offered, it was dry & more like sliced supermarket bread. Davinci has only gotten better with age. Their menu is unique: you'll find some Italian classics, but Chef Peppino also comes up with some really inventive items that you wouldn't find anywhere else. It's definitely in my rotation of restaurants, and it should be in yours too! read more

Without a doubt, Davinci is the best new restaurant to open in the area for a long time. It was a delight from beginning to end. Before I write much more, let me suggest that you download the Nowait app right now and get on the wait list. At 6pm on a Sunday, the small restaurant was full and the wait was 45 minutes. The food is tremendous. I had the cod special. The fish was excellent and cooked perfectly, but that was not the best part of the plate. The quinoa stuffed zucchini was amazing. It has a little flavor from the fish, but its own almost breaded taste. The light sauce on the side for the fish had an olive flavor that was perfect. And the unusual greens were a delight with a lemony dressing. I could not stop eating everything on my plate. For an appetizer, my wife and I shared a beet salad. It was five yellow beets in Olive oil topped with a cheese that tastes like it has a hint of horseradish. It was not overpowering. Just a slight zing. Another highlight of the table was my wife's lasagna. I do not know how to describe the sauce that was clearly made of ripe plum tomatoes. It was flavorful and filled with chunks of beef. No skimping here. The service was to notch and what I would expect from a quality downtown restaurant. There was a lot of staff, several of which were standing and waiting to meet the needs of a table. By the time I needed something, the waitstaff was already there. The inside was noisy and could use the help of a few acoustic panels. The building was an old Friend's, but you would never know it. This is my top new restaurant pick. This place is an absolute gem. It is our anniversary tradition to go here every year. With our taste preferences being in the intersection of Indian and italian fusion, we have been always treated to the best experience by Chef Peppino over the years. This year was another fantastic experience. Chef Ravi (related to Chef Peppino) put out a stellar spread. A tomato risotto that has Alfredo sauce with indian spices and a zucchini stuffed with paneer burji were innovations that were prepared specially for us. We were amazed once again ! A special word to the entire staff- they embody the customer service that Chef Peppino has. They took very good care of us. Thank you Chef Ravi and entire team at Da Vinci. Visited a friend in the area and decided to check this place out. I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing everything was! The patio was nice to eat on. Started off with burrata and arinchini. Both we delicious! For entrees we had the veal, carbonara and the strozzapreti. The pasta was fresh! Overall we had a great experience! We had take out from here for the first time and will definitely be back for takeout and eat in the restaurant. The food was ready early which was great as we arrived early. Meal was just like restaurant food as they packaged it well and presented it in the containers as though it was in the plate. We had pork chops which was amazing in the apple and Gorgonzola sauce. The Marsala Ravioli was huge. The sauce was a mild red sauce with Indian spices but definitely complimented the ravioli. Expect to have a lunch the next day as well as dinner as the portion was very large. read more

Do you like or shall I say Love Authentic Italian? This is the place for you. I had the Chicken Parmesan with pasta, which was perfectly cooked. My daughter had the Gnocchi and she was in heaven. My grandson had the kids spaghetti with a side of meatballs. He loved the meatballs. We were too full for desert. Next visit is for desert. We loved the decor and were surprised to see the space. We grew up knowing it as a Friendly's, but love it as we saw it last night. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was a hiccup on an order, but was fixed.
