We do a lot of takeout from here and a we're big fans of the pizza, chicken parm, and seafood specialty - shrimp with fracomo sauce. Calamari and garlic bread are always a good choice, although the tomato's in the caprese always seem to be refrigerated with weird texture. Good options for kids and the portions are large. This place was alright. The calamari was good, the pizza was thicker and saucier than I prefer, the mussels were decent. I really liked their selections of holiday drinks and they were cute too! We were to get lunch. Read reviews of this location. We were greeted warmly when we entered. Sat right away, Carol was amazing. She answered all of our questions about the menu. We went with chicken parm, eggplant parm. The rest ordered roasted cod puttanesca. Carol was always near by. Meals came out fast and tasted very good. I have no idea how we say broom, but we also got dessert crème brûlée and three chocolate mousse cake. All very good. Don't hate me for saying this, but I'm not a huge fan of Italian restaurants. I've always thought that I could boil a pound of spaghetti at home and throw some sauce on and call it a day. However, after watching Phantom Gourmet on an empty stomach I had a craving for Italian food so we decided to try Giacomo's. Much to my delight, we loved the food! We got a large calamari (with tentacles, yay!) which was more than enough for two people. We also ordered eggplant rollatini which was very flavorful. I chose a pizza to go, and I chose poorly. The chicken and broccoli came with a lemon pepper cream sauce, and it was bland. Perhaps the sauce is better suited for pasta, but next time we will try a red sauce pizza because their sauce is delicious. read more

Hey, I'm an easy guy to please, but last night's dinner at Giacomos was one of the worst dinners I've ever had. I ordered the veal marsalla w/ a side of spaghetti, and it was brutal! The texture of the veal was like chewing on rubber bands, and the sauce was unseasoned and tasteless. The spaghetti was dry, sticky, and flavorless. Eeeewww. I sent my meal back. I'll never go to this restaurant again. Btw, I've dined at Giacomo's in the N End on Hanover St and the South End on Columbus Ave, and loved both. The food was very disappointing. The fried calamari was mushy and you could taste the flour/breading. My wife had a swordfish and it had to be sent back. The Service said one of the staff tasted it and said they had gotten a bad batch. I had the blacking pasta with swordfish and tuna so needless to say I sent mine back as well. They do have homemade pasta there and that is delicious. My aunt had chicken marsala and said it was OK. The server Mary was outstanding. She offered to make us different meals in which I had veal saltimbucca . My wife had a chicken and pasta dish. Neither dish was anything spectacular. Service was outstanding the food not so good.. We received excellent service for our party of five. I had initially requested a reservation for that evening through their Gmail address, per their instructions. They, for some reason, did not have it on-record, but we're able to seat us promptly. Jackson was our host and ensured we wanted for nothing throughout the dinner. Orders were filled perfectly and drink glasses stayed full. They did take the short rib off of the seasonal menu, but I ordered the Shrimp pasta with the fra diavolo sauce and it was excellent. Prawns were of luxurious size and the lobster-based sauce was spicy, as expected, and absolutely delicious - I'm not just saying that as a New England native. Well, this was a wonderful surprise on a cold and miserable Saturday afternoon! I am embarrassed to say that we had never been to this restaurant as it is usually closed until 4 p.m. on weekdays and we are typically going in another direction on weekends when they are also open for lunch! We arrived after the lunch crowd so there were tables available. Important to note: we are snobs about Italian cooking! When we walked into this gem of a restaurant, we were immediately drawn to the cabinet display of specialty bottles and the spacious open kitchen. The bar was very welcoming with a cozy seating arrangement and the tables were well spaced and there were booths. We opted for a booth. Our hostess, Kerri, was so knowledgeable and welcoming. We were hungry, and although we had seen rave reviews about their pizza, were wanted to try some other dishes. So...we started with chianti for me and Eagle rare 10 year old fashion for my husband. We decided to split an appetizer and chose the eggplant rollatini (stuffed with ricotta and spinach) resting in a delicious red sauce. I was in heaven! The best I have ever eaten! For main dishes, I ordered the fettucini (perfectly cooked) with prosciutto and peas in a cream sauce (OMG--marvelous). My husband tried the Italian Jambalaya and he was very, very happy with the quality of this sumptuous dish and the abundance of ingredients. We would not change a thing about any of these dishes. Came here on a Monday night, it was pretty empty with a few tables occupied. Overall the restaurant felt bigger than the original in the north end without the hassle of waiting in line. To start, the water cups were dirty. One had a lipstick imprint on the glass and another cup could tell someone took a sip from it at some point. The server gave us new clean ones but wasn't a great start to the meal. We order calamari and broccoli in an anchovy and white wine sauce which both were good but nothing spectacular. For instance, the pasta was overcooked in both entrees and the flavor was somewhat lacking. Everything my family has had from here is superb. We call this restaurant in our house - "best garlic bread ever" on our fridge when we order delivery as not from the area. The portions were good size without being huge. We both finished our plates without feeling stuffed. Personally, I wished the fra diavolo was a bit spicier, but that's a personal preference. Forget the typical antipasto with sliced meats, cheese and olives. Nothing special. Instead have the burrata, or better yet, the succulent meat balls. My friends really enjoyed their seafood over pasta and the caponata. My chicken piccata was strange... instead of thin chicken cutlets, sautéed in lemon and capers, it was big chunks of Chicken. Unexpected. The Giacomos sauce and especially the "red" sauce in this restaurant are to die for. I mean, I would buy it by the gallon. I was unhappy with the desserts. Tiramisu just OK. To be honest, the others weren't even OK. Sickeningly sweet. Even the whipped cream. Coffee was very good. After the delicious pasta, veal, seafood, I'd say don't even order dessert. It's a let down. My wife is Asian. The woman and kids were white. I guarantee my wife's bill would have been higher and the tip better. I cannot specifically state why she was refused service as I was traveling on business but she was treated very rudely when she raised the concern and received very sarcastic responses to her questions. I noticed that they're usually very busy so we try to call ahead to reserve a table. There is a young man who I am guessing is the manager who really goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and accommodated. That type of service in a local small town restaurant is important. Having a North End staple open a sister restaurant in the small and quiet residential town that is Wayland warrants celebration in itself. Add onto that the ample parking and no long lines on any weekend night, this is a winning combination. We had dined inside pre-COVID, and ordered takeout post-COVID. I'm happy to report that the quality of the food is consistent good in both cases. We recently ordered takeout for Shrimp & Scallop pasta and Fettuccine with Prosciutto & Peas. I ordered the pasta with the homemade Fracomo sauce that has a spicy kick to it which I love. I was initially worried they would skimp on the amount of shrimp and scallop as many reviewers complained about it. But my takeout had the right proportion and they were flavorfully sautéed. The fettuccine had a lovely creamy sauce, with the right amount of prosciutto and peas. The sauce was rich and creamy, but it was not salted. That's the only regrettable part of the dish - it made the dish overwhelmingly buttery without the saltiness to balance it. read more
