They have so many cool options that capture the heart of Sacramento and some of it's landmarks. On top of the Sacramento art there is a good selection of subjects, genres, mediums and sizes. A great place to find a little something or a statement piece. The prices vary from piece to piece so keep that in mind if you have a certain budget. There's nothing like falling in love with art and finding out it's perfect for someone, just not you right now. But you can still enjoy it at the gallery! I love the love they show to local artists. I've met him before. He's quite and didn't put on any airs. He was drawing and just wanted to blend in. If you're in the area and love art, you should stop by. Looks are deceiving, it's much bigger than it appears from the outside and is full of mostly paintings.

On Main Street in Placerville, CA, is an artist gallery. It's a co-op of local Gold Country…read moreartists. Their work is displayed for purchase in this gorgeous historic brick building. The works range from jewelry, glass, wood work, ceramics, photography, sculpture, and paintings. Surprisingly the original art work was not outlandishly priced. Plus they have small originals, prints in smaller frame sizes to postcard size that are more affordable priced. My favorite works were Jack Nissen's wood bowls and painters Carol Quinn, Barbie Smith, and Valerie Bye. To me, their art echoes the beauty of our local landscape. I easily connected with that. I bopped in when Michael and Natalie were staffing the shop. Micheal had a bright, enthusiastic attitude. He warmly greeted everyone that walked. He had a great rapport with customers. No snobby pretentiousness. Besides the art another work in the building. The building itself is a beaut. It too has a rich history going back to 1850. We had no idea what we were getting into. We thought it was the old art gallery moving upstairs, but appears to be a different business. This is a set of individual art studios showing off their pieces. Due to it's 2nd Saturday most of the artist were in there open studios showing off their works. There were so many great pieces. I had 2 favorites. I forgot the first studio we entered. She did a lot of beautiful landscapes. The other favorite was Erica Avila Art. I love the texture of her paintings. She uses acrylic paint and paints it on so thick that it's textured. I love it. They also had a nice spread of food for their guests. I had a little cup of delicious green grapes and a slice of apple strudel. It was a nice touch. I remember when I used to do 2nds Saturday. We used to serve wine.

The Gallery's selections are vibrant renditions of things you will instantly recognize. In short, it is the stuff most people would hang on their walls. I really appreciate orignal art, but let's be honest -- most of us can't afford the original. Smith's offers originals plus a seletion of reproductions that look damn close to the original, mounted just like the original, at affordable prices. So you too can have a four-set panorama of Napa Valley vineyards or California oaks. When people say, "I don't know art, but I know what I like", they are probably thinking of what is hanging in Smith's. Definitely worth checking out if you are looking for something special to put on the wall behind your couch.

Big mistake she was basically chewed out and given major attitude about it not being his responsibility to provide proof to art students & their professors that they visited his gallery. We understand your stance but no need to be grumpy & rude! All I can say is you never know when one of these students may want to come back & buy one of your pieces or better yet what if they became a known artist? If that was me I know for a fact I wouldn't ever want to sell my artwork there!
