My only problem (not really a problem) is a tip jar on the counter. They take your order, look at you for a tip. The manager shouldn't allow it and the OWNER needs to give them a raise, not-guilt pass the buck. (Pun intended) I say that because for restaurant service, you sit yourself, fix/refill your own drink, pick up your own food at the counter, clean off your own table, etc.. Taking an order doesn't constitute a pay raise. My hourly rate is what it is no matter who I help. ‍

If I could make one small personal tweak, I would love to see this served on a thicker slice of buttery toasted sourdough, maybe with a sprinkle of feta on top. On my most recent visit, I sat at the bar and started with a Buffalo Trace bourbon while looking over the menu. The bartenders here are always attentive and welcoming; in fact, the bartender remembered me from previous visits, which speaks volumes about the level of service they provide. Dinner was a ribeye cooked medium-rare with asparagus, and it was exactly what a good steak should be: perfectly cooked, with great flavor, and served hot. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. I followed that with their lemon icebox dessert and a lemon drop, both excellent, and finished the evening with a Four Roses Small Batch Select for a nightcap. What really sets J Wilson's apart is the staff's consistency and professionalism. The bartenders, servers, and kitchen team all seem to work together smoothly and take pride in the experience they deliver. Even on a busy night, with spring break crowds and daylight saving time throwing schedules off, the service remained attentive, and the food came out exactly right. If you're looking for a reliable steakhouse in Beaumont with excellent steaks, a strong bourbon selection, and top-notch service, J Wilson's is hard to beat. Five stars. Always a great experience.

I used to work here (full disclosure) and always loved it the food. The GM Jason is very creative and has done a lot to improve the restaurant since he became the GM. I hadn't eaten at Daddio's in several years but recently got the urge to check in. I went through the drive thru in Port Arthur and was blown away by the Pink Dogwood Burger. There were several other 'new' (to me) items that looked very appealing. That day the Pink Dogwood burger made me see the bright side of things after going through a rough period of familial loss. I had gone here in the past and thought it was just 'meh', but we went last week and I have to say, it was super yum. Great options for toppings (I had the goat cheese and my hubs had the Bleu cheese mushroom), the sweet potato fries were large enough to share and we took the recommendation of the guy who worked there to get the jalapeño cheese bun...it was a win!
