They ALWAYS have delicious flavorful food, Reasonable Prices, Large generous portions, Fast & Friendly service, and Consistent Hours for their food truck! I had the stuffed baked potato with brisket which was enough for two meals and absolutely delicious!

Jalapeño and cheese sausage sandwich, perfect amount of sausage to take the top off and pile sausage onto each side! Hallelujah!

My husband, daughter and I were passing through today trying to find a local restaurant to order food from and happened to spot the Daddy Bob's truck!!!!! If you could have seen how excited we were, I'm sure y'all would've laughed. We were absolutely ecstatic! And guess what? The food definitely lived up to our expectations! I ordered the jalapeño and cheese sausage sandwich with Mac and cheese and a sweet tea. Hubby ordered the sausage plate with the same side and drink as me. OMGGGG. It hit the freaking spot in my stomach that has so missed having bbq food, thank you JESUS! We ended up popping the trunk and enjoying our lunch in the shade right there in the parking lot (socially distanced of course). The weather today was perfect for a trunk picnic. I'm telling you, I couldn't have thought up a better way to spend our lunch together. Keep serving up this amazing food, my friends!

I got a half rack of ribs the other day. They were delicious and I got 5 meals out of it. Best BBQ sauce ever. Even I can afford that.

Good food. Massive quantities. I've had pulled pork sandwich and brisket loaded potato. Both were at least 2 meals.

The food is quite good. I enjoyed my brisket plate a lot but wish they had more options as sides.

Found the BBQ joint enroute to Possum Kingdom Lake and "Boy" am I super grateful for the pit stop! Upon walking in, you're automatically welcomed and feelin' cozy from the vintage country decor and set up. We got two orders of Sliders (1xMulit-meats & 1xSausage), a Cheeseburger () & Chicken Tacos, which all were absolutely delish!!! We started with the fried pickles, and they were some of the best I've ever had. They were perfectly crispy on the outside, flavorful, and a great way to kick off the meal. We ordered the sliced brisket plate with potato salad and coleslaw. The brisket was cooked perfectly, lean but still tender and juicy. Both sides tasted fresh and homemade. The coleslaw was especially memorable because it was more savory than sweet, with a subtle hint of cumin that gave it a unique flavor I really enjoyed. We also tried the loaded baked potato with brisket, the sliders, and the mac and cheese topped with burnt ends. Everything was very good. The only item that didn't quite hit the mark for me was the burnt ends, which were a little sweeter than I prefer. Even so, they were still flavorful. Overall, we had a great first experience. Between the outstanding fried pickles, quality barbecue, welcoming atmosphere, and variety on the menu, Hatchet House is a place we'll definitely be coming back to.

Worth the Drive Every Time - Reliable, Delicious BBQ for Family & Events!…read moreWe've been coming to Natty Flat Smokehouse on Hwy 281 for years, and it never disappoints. It's a bit of a drive from Granbury, but 100% worth it for consistently great Texas BBQ. The meats are always smoked perfectly with excellent flavor and tenderness, we love loading up on brisket, ribs, sausage, and whatever else looks good that day. We've dined in multiple times and also ordered big family plates to bring home for parties, holidays, and events. Everything travels well and still tastes fresh & huge hit with our whole crew. The sides are homemade and solid (the mac & cheese and potato salad get mentioned a lot in our house), and the portions are generous for the price. The rustic, down-home Texas atmosphere is part of the charm, friendly service, plenty of parking, and fun shops nearby (like the giant rocking chair spot). It feels like true Texas Hill Country hospitality. Whether you're stopping in for a quick lunch or catering a gathering, this place delivers "Dang Good BBQ" every visit. If you're anywhere near Lipan or Hwy 281, make the drive. You won't regret it we keep coming back and bringing friends/family with us!

After an early morning flight to DFW, we were halfway through the two-hour drive to the north-Texas…read moretown of Wichita Falls when lunch sounded like a good idea. Initially, I said that I was in the mood for a lighter lunch, but when we read some of the many 5-star reviews for Juan and Allie's BBQ that said things like "I will always come here whenever I am within a six hour drive", I changed my mind. So we pulled off the highway and about a half-mile into the small town of Sunset. I realized we were at the spot when the faint smell of wood smoke trickled to my nose from the side of a weatherbeaten building with a "Backyard BBQ" banner tacked to the front. Walking inside, we were greeted by nods from a table of men in work boots and jeans, and then promptly welcomed by Allie herself. She indicated the day's menu on the board and helpfully answered our questions. The inside dining area was comfortable and homey, even if like the outside it had seen better days. Sagging ceiling tiles and duct tape repairs told the story of getting by and focusing on the important things. It is a real family-run operation, with Juan smoking the meats and Allie making the sides, along with waiting tables. On the day we visited at least, it was just the two of them working. Of course I had to order brisket since it was Texas, but the sides presented a more challenging decision. After hearing Allie's description of their cowboy beans, I chose those and the potato salad. She disappeared into the back room, and soon returned with a large metal tray containing slices of brisket and Texas-sized portions of sides. The brisket was beautifully smoked and sliced, and flavor was perfect. The only deduction I have to make was due to it being a little less tender than I would expect from a great brisket. It went down easily despite having said I was not in the mood for a pile of meat, but I did have to make use of my knife a little more than usual. The sides were big on home-cooked flavor. In both, I noticed a big difference from typical southern or big-name barbecue joints in that they were not overly sweet but relied on more earthy seasonings for their taste. They were excellent complements to the beef, and deserve some recognition of their own. After our meal was done, we chatted with Juan outside for a minute, where we learned some of the details mentioned above. It would have been cool to hear more about their story, but they had work to do and we had to get back on the road. So we pulled back onto the highway, having experienced a friendly welcome to Texas and a satisfying first meal in the Lone Star State.

DELICIOUS! I actually heard about this place from a Reddit post about places to stop on a road trip…read moreacross Texas and I'm so glad I listened! It's home cooked food, calories-not-monitored, but worth every single bite. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but I knew it was going to be good when we saw the parking lot was overflowing into the grass. Luckily there was still an open table inside and we were welcomed by the sweetest staff and our waitress was just as wonderful. So many things looked good on the menu, but I couldn't resist ending this road trip with another taste of chicken fried steak to compare to Mary's (and they can definitely compete because it was AWESOME)! We also tried the chicken fried chicken (delicious), sweet potato casserole (amazing), Mae's potato casserole (tasty), cheese sticks (good), and the hamburger and fries which was obviously delicious enough that my picky daughter almost finished it - which says a LOT! We were very glad that we'd ordered the "smaller portions" for lunch because it meant we could grab a few of the desserts to go to snack on for our final leg of the road trip and keep enjoying at home. We tried the toffee cake (incredible), peanut butter cake (sinfully good), and the coconut pie (very light and creamy)! We also snagged some items to take home with us from their coolers and I can 100% recommend their pork tamales and summer sausage. If you get the chance to stop here, you won't regret it at all! Delicious, great service, and good portions!
