Daddy D'z is one of those local gems that you ensure to always stop at when you're in the area. The visual esthetic of the location has a down home juke joint type of feel, however, as captivating as it is... you don't come for the looks. I decided to get the Rib Tips Dinner with Red Beans and Rice, Candied Yams, and Cornbread. First off, I don't know who was in the back making this cornbread, however, this moist, perfectly sweet, golden brown bite of perfection set the tone for the entire meal. Yes! I'm one of those who eats the cornbread first. Ha! The Rib Tips were super meaty, perfectly smoked, and tender to the touch. I paired them with the spicy BBQ sauce which added an enjoyable layer of flavor to the overall natural pork flavor profile and added seasoning rub. All I know is these tips were incredible. Both of my sides were good. The yams had the homemade southern taste, where the red beans and rice provided a traditional creole flavoring with an added smokiness from the sausage. To round it off I decided to try the Sweet Tea and babeeeeeeeeeee. Whoever's grandmother made this sweet tea is truly a legend. I'm talking sweet and yea as it should be. Don't judge me but I had to get a refill. LoL. I truly enjoyed my stop at Daddy D'z and will always stop by when I'm in the area. If you're near or in the mood for some great BBQ and willing to head to the city, add this to your Must Try list!!!

While visiting ATL, I read Daddy D'z was a must try for any BBQ fans, and it did not disappoint! From the outside it looks like many of the bbq joints I've visited in Texas; An unassuming building with smoker in the back. Plenty of parking on site. As soon as you walk in you are welcomed with Southern hospitality. All of the staff and pit master were super friendly. They specialize in smoked ribs, so we ordered one slab with two side orders. This set us back $38.00. The menu also features usual fare such as brisket, sausage, and turkey. One thing I've never seen before is they offer turkey ribs. Maybe I'll try them next time. For sides we chose coleslaw and mac & cheese. The slab came out covered in their house sweet bbq sauce. If you don't like your meat drowning in sauce, ask them to put it on the side. The whole slab was a lot of meat for two people so come hungry or order a 1/2 slab. The ribs weren't "fall off the bone tender", but they had a good smoked flavor. The mac & cheese was great, but coleslaw was ok. To drink we got their sweet tea which is made with sugar and is the only way they serve it. So if you prefer unsweet tea they don't have it. The tea also comes with free refills. For payment, they accept credit card and note they charge a 10% service fee on all bills. If you like bbq, it would be hard not to try this place. I'll return.

Our server, Debbie, was wonderful--very attentive, kind, and made sure we never went thirsty or left unhappy. Each plate came with two sides. Beef Rib Tips Plate We ordered the beef rib tips with baked beans, broccoli casserole, and cornbread. * Beef Rib Tips: 8/10 - Very tender and paired well with the BBQ sauce. * Baked Beans: 6/10 - A bit watery, but had a nice sweetness. * Broccoli Casserole: 9/10 - Delicious, creamy, and full of flavor. * Cornbread: Classic and comforting. Brisket Plate * Brisket: 9/10 - Flavorful, tender, and practically melted in your mouth. * Mac & Cheese: 1/10 - Unfortunately, this was a miss, so I swapped it out. * Potato Salad (swap): 6/10 - Pretty basic but decent. * Candied Yams: 9/10 - Sweet, soft, and very well done. The sweet tea was also really good--refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness. Price: The total came out to $60, which included a 10% service charge automatically added, plus a little extra to round it out after tipping. For the portions and quality of service, the price felt fair. Overall: A solid 4 out of 5. Good food, excellent service, and I'd definitely come back again!

OMG. Their ribs are so tasty. The little taqs are just wicked. The mac n cheese has the best touch of tang. I'm so full, I can't breath.

Definitely a no frills, hole in the wall kind of place. You can tell this joint has been here for awhile due to the older newspaper clippings and awards this place has won in the past. It's counter service and we ordered a pulled chicken plate with fried okra, green beans and cornbread. My husband ordered a beef brisket plate with collard greens, coleslaw and cornbread. My chicken was moist and flavorful, though it lacks the smoky flavor you get from BBQ. The fried okra was fried perfectly but lacks a tad bit of salt. Green beans were cooked well. The star of the show was the cornbread! It was a little dense but the crust was great with the gritty texture you get from cornmeal. Y'all support this place before the development gets bought and we lose this establishment for good.

I have been driving past Daddy D'z for a while now and finally had the opportunity to stop and I am so happy I did. The portions were HUGE and I ended up taking well over half of my food home, even though I was starving when I sat down. Service was so good. My waitress made it feel like you were at home talking to family. The ambiance was fun! It felt like a little bbq shack in the country but in the middle of the city. I wish I had gotten pictures of it, but it slipped my mind. It felt like everything was done out of love and just wanting to serve GOOD food.

I came to this location because a few years ago I tried it and enjoyed. I wanted to continue to support them since a couple streets over DAS BBQ decided to build. Today however, I was disappointed. For one, the pricing on the menus is not what you pay and in addition to tax you pay a 10% unknown service fee. The food: I asked what's fresh and of course the lady said everything and I should have known then there was a reason there was zero customers. I ordered chicken and ate it in my car. The chicken was clearly thrown in the fryer to make it hot. I ran a bbq restaurant many years and literally disciplined cooks for cutting corners and that's exactly what they did. I know the taste of fried skin all day long. If I wanted fried chicken I would have gone down the street. I suggest keeping proper warmers or something. You don't know what a persons dietary needs are and serve them fried when they are unaware is very negligent. I'm a champion for small businesses and will continue to be one but I also believe in giving honest constructive feedback. Do better. Please do better

I was visiting from California, The customer service was amazing, the food was good, the restaurant is a hot mess, it's needs a remodel, it's not aesthetically pleasing, I walked in and it felt like 2005, no air on one side and when you enter the order side it's cooler but fans are blowing so I started to sweat, this place could be so popular if it got a remodel, it has potential, the location is great and the bougie joint up the street that is aesthetically pleasing lacks in comparison.

The best customer service I've received during my trip to ATL. The staff was patient, kind, and welcoming. The food was delicious. I loved the ribs and chicken plate. I highly recommend the Arnold Palmer (tea/lemonade mix). The pit master came out introduced himself and took time communicating with all customers dinning.

Un assuming joint for some bbq. We inhaled our meals, it was that damn good. Friendly fast service, great menu and prices. What a hidden gem! Well, it's not really hidden...but when your from the east cobb bubble.. this place is hidden if u know what I mean.

    Is the smoker(s) outside?

We have brick bbq pits that are built connected to the building. We naturally smoke our meat with hickory wood.

Craving some Daddy DZs.. wen site account suspended. Anyone know what that is all about? Also heard…

You can never believe the words of people. It is under new ownership. The food is and always will be the same. GREAT.

Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q…read more Fox Bros. has that hole-in-the-wall BBQ joint feel, but with plenty of space to hang out. There's a bar along with both indoor and outdoor seating, and the overall atmosphere is casual and laid-back. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and gave us some great recommendations, which definitely added to the experience. We went with the three-meat sampler and chose the brisket, ribs, and jalapeño cheddar sausage, with tots and the Fox-a-Roni for our sides. The Fox-a-Roni--a combination of their Brunswick stew and mac & cheese--was absolutely delicious and easily one of the most memorable sides I've had at a BBQ restaurant. The brisket was honestly some of the best brisket I've ever had. It was tender, flavorful, and easily my favorite of the three meats. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was also really good, and while the ribs tasted great, ours were pretty small and didn't have a ton of meat on them. My only real complaint was the portioning of the sampler. We were told that as you choose a larger variety of meats, you essentially receive smaller portions of each. I understand the idea of a sampler, but we literally received one slice of brisket and two-three fairly small ribs, so the portion-to-variety concept didn't make a ton of sense to me. I would've preferred slightly more substantial portions, especially considering how good the brisket was! I also ordered a cocktail, but unfortunately it wasn't really for me. It came across very sweet and mostly juice, although I think that may have been more about the particular drink I chose than the bar itself. Overall, the food absolutely delivered. Between the incredible brisket, Fox-a-Roni, friendly service, and laid-back BBQ atmosphere, Fox Bros. was definitely worth the stop. I'd happily come back--I'd just skip the 3 meat sampler next time and order more of that brisket!

If there was a rub, it was subtle to the point of being almost untasteable. Quarter rack of Ribs: poor. Meaty, but far too tough, definitely not fall off the bone. Again lacking in flavor, and burnt in spots. Side of Mac n Cheese: easily the start of the show. Very flavorful, baked and not swimming in cheese sauce, possible notes of ritz crackers detected. I'd have eaten a main course sized portion, and imagine it could mix well with pulled pork or chopped brisket, should Matt's ever consider expanding their repertoire of meats. Side of potato salad: also very solid. Simple but nicely flavored, just creamy enough. Side of collards: fine but unremarkable. Bbq sauce: decent-ish, more tangy than sweet. Very thick. Packaging : Matt's really could improve here. The ribs and chicken, piled together between two slices of white bread, was wrapped in white paper which was in turn stuffed into a paper bag with the containers of sides. This was messy- yes, bbq is by nature a messy undertaking, but a clamshell container would've made the whole fiasco a lot easier to deal with. A fork and spoon were included, no knife... and no napkins. Really? For a paper wrapped oversauced pile of meat... not even a single napkin? I honestly would've been fine paying an extra buck or so for some better packaging and, IDK, maybe a wetnap. Overall, this bbq lover was unimpressed. Perhaps the rave reviews made my expectations too high. I've honestly had better bbq at multiple places in my relative bbq desert hometown of Boston. I was hoping for a real treat during my business trip to Atlanta; instead, I'm yearning for the joint near my suburban New England home...
