On a venture out to Camp Verde, my bff and I stopped in town to grab a quick snack. And quick it was. We saw a sign that read "Cowboy" jerky and as of lately, we've been on a jerky kick so off we went to explore what this so-called "Cowboy" jerky had to offer. The shop was fairly small but they had an upright freezer with sodas and various drinks, a couple of shelves full of accoutrement, and of course, they had the freezer of meats. The meats were sirloin, strips, chops, and sausages and on the right side were the jerkies. They had turkey jerky, "Hot Damn" jerky, and "Cowboy" jerky. The cost was about 20 bucks a pound and since we'd never had it before, we played it safe and ordered about a quarter pound of the Cowboy jerky. I wish we had tried the jerky as soon as we got it because it was freakin' amazing! It wasn't ultra dry (you know - the kind that slices the inside of your mouth as you chew) - it was dry but juicy and thick and full of flavor. Along with the best quality meats and cuts I can find Daddy Jim's offers the most diverse hamburger and sausage flavor combinations around. Daddy Jim's also carries a variety of fresh cheeses, in-house beef jerky, assorted fresh vegetables, farm fresh eggs, and various packaged condiments. Daddy Jim's store is also packed with a collection interesting antiques and memorabilia dating back to the early 1900s...and Danny (the owner) is as much a hoot as the "ooga" horn underneath his countertop. The absolute most disturbed and scary experience I have ever had trying to buy a hamburger patty. I walked in and was accused of calling in a hot dog a week prior and not picking them up. This occurrence never happened and I stood there with my family and was absolutely verbally abused. I was so shocked and embarrassed as I have been a loyal costumer. I will not be going back and for the sake of you and your family, I would NOT recommend ever going there for your meat. God bless.. read more

Have bought there several times and his meat is very good but I won't be back. Every time I've dealt with his employees, every one has been courteous and polite. The problem is Jim himself....loud talking, trying to fill up the room with himself. This morning I arrived at exactly 9 AM - when the hours posted said they would be open. After waiting (in my very cold truck) for a few minutes, I went in....everything was dark. Jim came out of the back, we had a short conversation about him not being open at 9 and he said, "I'm the owner, I can open up whenever I want to!" You sure are Jim and I'm a customer. You just lost 4 customers for sure. Stay in the back, let your employees handle the front and your business will improve. read more

Stopped in on vacation. Tried the beef stick, dried sausage, & jerky. All were so good I had to take some home. Owner was kind and taught us a few things about smokers and smoking meats. Great service... Top notch! read more

This place beats out the competition around town. For the same price as all of the other stores, you can get a much better quality of meat. Steaks are cut thick and some of them are aged beautifully. Jerky is solid, and I'm dying to try out some of their unique sausages (blueberry maple?!). read more

When in Kerrville we always make a point to go by Daddy Jim's for the best bacon, steaks, chickens, jerky...it's all good! Great service..even called ahead when in a hurry recently and they packaged up my order so it was ready when we arrived. Count on Daniel for great advice on how to best cook the cuts of meat! Best boudin sausage anywhere !! I was lucky to go to Daddy Jims right after they had freshly made some crawfish boudin-- I bought 3 rings and was surprised it was only $7.00 sp i bought 3 more since I live 1 hour away-- this time it was $6.50 for 3 rings- I love eating thei boudin heated up by steaming it - complimented with a salad a few crackers and a cold beer -- it's perfect -- spicy hot but not too hot -- never indigestion The meat market is super clean -- always smells smoky and good-- folks are friendly- prices are fair -- I always try to stop when passing thru Kerrville Texas-- this is a special honey hole for great meats-- Michael Moss read more
