You'd think there would be a healthy cottage industry of techs servicing the multitudes of people who weren't born and raised in the high-tech era and instead have had to adapt to its constantly evolving complexities and terminology. Unfortunately, knowledgeable, reputable, reliable, patient Apple techs who make house calls are hard to find, and I've had mixed experiences with them. Recently, I bought a Mac Book Air and after searching every available resource I was about to give up trying to find the right in-home service tech when I read a promising post on NextDoor about Drew S. Sager Tech Support. Drew returned my call in a timely manner and came by a couple of days later. He solved some issues that I'd been dealing with seemingly forever (one of which the techs at both Apple Support and the Genius Bar insisted I wasn't having), easily got me past setup obstacles, installed a couple of new peripherals, and even got my wife squared away on her new iPad -- and was good natured and patient the whole time. It is a large house but the camera distance from NVR is the same as a 2700 sf house. I guess people with bigger houses pay more for the same work. Number two he then comes out and install the camera on my house drills a second hole and NOT where my old camera was so now I have two(2) holes with the cameras. If there was additional cost in removing cameras all he had to do is disclose that fact. Number three then AFTER he installs the camera and AFTER reviews the scope of work then Ramon comes in and tells me to do the entire job will be double the price approximately $1200-$1600 Why did he start the work and then AFTER it was started tells me it will double $1600. This should have been communicated earlier and before work started. To put icing on the cake he now wants to charge me $120. I will take pictures of the dangling wires that he wants $120 to install.
