I passed this flower shop yesterday on my way home and saw a beautiful bouquet. I came by today to purchase it and it was not available. Instead, I was directed to some similar flowers but the bouquet was significantly smaller. I asked if it would be possible to combine multiple bouquets to create a larger one, and was told that this was not allowed. I then asked if I could do it myself at home, if they would be willing to give me a piece of paper and a tie, and I was told no. The attendants were more concerned with the tasks that they were trying to accomplish, than with being helpful. I told them that I had traveled 45 minutes to specifically come to the shop because the flowers were so beautiful. All I got was blank stares. I am still surprised that they passed up on the opportunity to make over $150 on a bouquet, and the lack willingness to provide any sort of help. Meanwhile they were sitting there, wrapping flowers with paper, ties, etc. My mind was blown. I will not be coming back, and will certainly not be recommending the shop to anyone. This was the definition of unhelpful and not quite competent customer service. read more

Quick service, beautiful flowers, amazingly great prices . Stopped here before going on a date with my girlfriend to get one last thing to put a smile on her face. There had to be at least 8 other people in front of me online, but I wasn't there for more than 5 minutes. I found what I was looking for for less than $25. They have fresh flowers daily / not an exorbitantly large selection but they have the classics (tulips, roses, orchids) / and the prices are very reasonable for the location. They were better than my Pinterest boards that I gave them for inspiration. I carried the flowers around the whole night. I didn't even want to hand them off to my maid of honor. Dahlia in Grand Central near track 39 sells a nice selection of flowers and I've shopped there numerous times on my way to and from the train. The prices are a little high but I'm sure the rent on the space is also quite high, and the quality of the flowers is always excellent. I only wish they wouldn't play such loud music. This place stinks. They gave me a bouquet that fell out of the vase as soon as I tried to move it. My talk with the owner did nothing to help. We just ended up having a fight with him asking if they fell out because I was holding the vase by the flowers not the vase. I had to explain that the stems were less dense than the water they were placed in, that combined with very short cut flowers tied in a bundle and too much water equaled the entire bouquet falling out in one bundle. I guess he's not a science guy. Or a business man. And certainly not much of a florist. read more

I had the pleasure of hiring Dahlia Flowers for my client's event. We chose Cipriani Wall Street for the late December soirée as our venue. And if you know New York City venues, you know Cipriani is nothing short of exquisite, elegant and one of Manhattan's best ballrooms. Although this grand and luxurious New York landmark is breathtaking alone, we needed the perfect flower arrangements for the tables to match the mood of this triumph venue. At first I began looking into Manhattan florists, however the samples I was receiving were boring, plain and poorly executed not to mention they came with a ridiculous price point. I was then referred to Bart at Dahlia Flowers. It was not an easy fight to persuade my client to use a florist from New Jersey however as soon as Dahlia began sending us photos of their work, I knew we had to go with them. The staff was very professional and accommodating. They even arranged a sample viewing of how each of the arrangements would look, as we were getting a few different arrangements in a variety of heights and sizes and needed to see each kind of arrangement in person to sign off on the full order. We had signed off on 80 arrangements and then 2 days before our event we needed to add 5 more. Dahlia was able to accommodate our additional order which I know was no easy task since our arrangements required some hand painting. Upon arriving to Cipriani the day of the event, Dahlia's staff set everything up in not only a timely manner but precisely. They had exceeded all our expectations with not only their arrangements but the quality of work they provided on-site and throughout the process. The wild flowers are usually pretty nice and fresh, the roses are sub-par, all are dead/frozen, but packed tightly so you can't tell the petals are about to separate and fall off. About the service, just the other day I had picked out multiple bouquets, my arms loaded down with bags, and a back injury to boot; at the time I was the only customer there. I walk up to the counter the girl with the black bob haircut and bird tattoo across her shoulder blades asks if I am I ready, I say yes. But I cannot reach/extend myself to pass her the flowers because of the other bags and the injury, and she can see I am struggling but makes no effort to reach out to me. So finally I say, I am going to have to walk to the side of the counter, which I do, and hand the bouquets to the other employee. While the other employee wraps the bouquets the girl with the tattoo is trashing me under her breath! Aloud! I could hear clear as a bell! Such appalling behavior. this flower shop stand is located at the grand central terminal on the lower level and serves a purpose if you need flowers before grabbing a train , getting off a train or walking thru the terminal and you need flowers last minute . i would consider the quality better then your local korean fruit shop but you will pay a bit more but selection here is just as good if not better.i needed a nice assortment of flowers with no fillers (the plant looking stuff that many places use ) with a nice vase for about 50 bucks and i was happy with what i received , good amount of colorful flowers with a nice vase all wrapped up and easy to carry. when i got to work i put the flowers in water and the freshness and sweet smell was still lingering as the day was passing by. good place to grab some flowers when your time is limited . read more

If you are just buying what they have, i.e. just one sort of flower like roses or tulips, that's fine. But if you want to make a bouquet, forget about it. They do arrange a bouquet, but wrap it in a unappealing white paper. If you ask them to wrap in a clear cellophane, for some strange unknown reason, they become extremely obnoxious, and snarl and snap at you. Flower shop that doesn't make a bouquet??? I had two unforgettably unpleasant experience here. I ask very nicely but oh my my my my. The guy who runs this shop made it sound like I asked them to top their bouquet with a cup cake or something. All I asked was if it was possible for them to wrap my bouquet in a clear cellophane, and I offered to buy the cellophane at a shop next door, and pay extra. He was so obnoxious I thought I'd faint. The flowers and prices are not great, but you would at least think they would want your business, but they don't. Terrible! Terrible! Terrible service and every time it's the same rude little man! I'm guessing he's the "manager" or "owner" because the people that work there are always asking him if they can sell me flowers and that little jerk is always saying NO! They are supposed to be open until 8 (the end of rush hour) which would make sense since it's in a train station, but they are always closing up early. Sometimes 7- sometimes 7:30? At this point it's happens so many times with this guy I'm never going back! Someone need to explain to this guy that he's in a "service industry" and the for him! I stop by here once a week to get flowers for my wife, and in my opinion this is the best florist in the city. They always have fresh, bright roses in any color, and a big, slightly varying selection of other beautiful flowers. They usually have really pretty mixed bouquets already, but they're still always happy to put something unique together on the spot for you if you need something special. Their prices are really reasonable, especially compared to rates elsewhere in the city and for the high quality you're getting at Dahlia. Even the staff is great- very friendly and attentive, and happy to make it quick if they can see you're rushing for a train.
