It was my lil baby's birthday, so I came to Sunny to make me look good. I gave her the creative direction that my girlfriend loves "Lily's and Tulips." Such a great place to pick up flowers if you don't want to make your own arrangements, or need to entrust the picking/arranging into more able eyes and hands. There was a slight misunderstanding between me and the person when I called, but once I was there in person it was easily cleared up. Thank goodness they opened on Mother's Day! Google said they weren't open on Sunday but I took a bet and lucky me, I arrived at around 12:30 as they just so happened to open the store at 12pm (what I heard by mouth) but even then, there was already a line for the shop. Took nearly an hour's wait for me to get my flower bouquet but I am thoroughly satisfied with my shopping experience. The array of fresh, high-quality flowers on display here just can't be compared to other flower shops nearby. Appreciate the straightforward attitude who told me right off the bat she would not go over the budget I set. (My budget was very flexible tho) I was expecting to just pick up a pre-made bouquet (didn't see any within sight at that time) as they were the most affordable bouquet prices I have seen that day but I absolutely love the bouquet that I took part in picking out. She said total was $52 but charged me $50 (before tax), god bless Sunny, and happy mother's day to her. Definitely support her business and I know where I will be going next time for flowers! The florist my siblings and I usually go to have really nice red roses but they were $5 each (and just for the roses) and he didn't pay much attention to the arrangement of the bouquet. I usually ended up taking it apart and rearranging it myself. This year we decided to try Sunny's because of all the great reviews. Bouquet was beautiful and so much more affordable. (We got 8 which is a good number for us Chinese.) Mama Bear was very happy. You can tell the florist pays attention to where the each component goes so the colors stand out against each other. Only downside was that the roses weren't the best roses. Color wasn't as red and petals were a little wilted. (I altered the picture so that they looked redder.) However I would still rate them 5 out of 5. The arrangement was just so well done and that price was unbeatable. read more

The nicest place you will ever find nearby! I was recommended by my friend to go get flowers from here. I made the trip and I did not regret it. I'm planning to stop by regularly. The place is owned by a mom and her son. I met and talked with the son. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. Apparently they have been in this location for over 30 years (I asked). I showed him a picture of the vase I was hoping to fill and he gave me some recommendations. I bought the pre-made bouquet for ~$15 (incl. tax). I think it was definitely worth it, especially given the price. The flowers are fresh and so far, lasting pretty well. I went at night, but I'm sure there's more selection during the day. read more

This place makes me miss living in the East Village. The flowers are beautiful and unique - very, very class arrangements and small premade bouquets are just $15. Much nicer than anything you'd find at that price point elsewhere. I've asked the man who works here (Sunny's son, I think) to make a few arrangements before and they are always elegant and thoughtful. He always thinks to add extra touches to fill out the bouquets that make them very special. They never showed up for my friend's wedding bouquet!!! Super unprofessional! My friend booked her wedding bouquet, left deposit, and even told the florist that she would pick up the flowers around 6pm the day before her wedding. Yet they never opened the store not bother to pick up the phone. We called and texted, and didn't get any response. My friend didn't get any apology or explanation until she went back to get the refund. She was told that it's because of the smoke from Canada. I get it. Some people don't feel safe to go out all the time. But when you take someone's wedding bouquet request, at least give them a heads-up and allow them to buy flower from somewhere else, or at least pick up the phone when they call. It was not even the first day of the smoke problem. It started on Tuesday and my friend had her order on Wednesday. Sunny's Florist didn't do anything until my friend went back on Saturday, but the damage was done. Most flower stores were closed at 6pm. We spent an hour and half searching and walking, and finally found a place at 7:30pm, where closed at 8pm. The other place was very nice and helped out at last minute. Some guy behind me stopped, looked at the flowers, and decided somebody in his life deserved to feel special. Whoever it was, I bet they're happy. It's December 14th and there's this lady who's celebrating her birthday. I can't tell you her age because if I did, she'd kill me and this'll be my last review. All I know is, I've given her a flower once before and her expression was one of the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life. And having bought flowers before, Sunny's Florist will beat anybody else in price. Any guy will tell you, how much they've had to shell out on Valentine's Day. Sunny's is a godsend! Seriously though... the flower district is such a ripoff. She runs a little corner shop, so inherently there's not much variety compared to a store. But lucky me, I know nothing about flowers and picking solely off color. Actually, I didn't even pick the flowers, I asked Sunny herself to help me out and she was more than happy to. For $23 I ended up with a beautiful medium sized bouquet of whites, reds, purples, and greens. And you can tell how gorgeous they were by all the jealous stares of women on the train. That's right ladies, your man ain't shit! But really, all that matters is that it made her happy. ... and that it was cheap... because I'm poor. Side story: A friend's boyfriend called me from jail to get flowers to his girlfriend. So, I came here and for $50, I got this bigass bouquet that for a moment made her forget her man was arrested. read more

In a nutshell: this small local corner store has beautiful bouquets for great prices as long as you can catch them when they're open (usually later hours). Sometimes they can get a line during peak hours, so not ideal if you are in a rush but great if you have time and want to customize something, or pick up a quick pre-made bouquet. The long version: Their selection of flowers is usually great, and their pre-made bouquets up front (usually mixes of whites and greens) are only $12 each. They have a selection of flowers they get daily that are in their display windows that you can also customize bouquets with for very reasonable prices-one of the great things they do is that you can give them a budget, pick a few things you like and they will work around what you want and the bouquet always comes out beautiful with wrapping and green accents. Their selection however is solely based on what they get in, and unfortunately they sometimes have no control over what type of flowers they get, it's usually what's in season and what their supplier has (though I have seen peonies off-season, and other rare ones on occasion). The one catch is that this mother-son couple, Kim and Eddie, work on their own hours. They typically don't open until later hours (sometimes past 2pm) but are open very late into the night sometimes because that's when they are able to get the bulk of their business (I've seen them open at 10pm or 11pm before). But their hours are very informal, so sometimes it's hard to always predict when they are available. The other thing is that they really don't answer their phone if you want to do arrangements or an order ahead of time, the best way to reach them is to speak with them in person-I have experience with them on this as well since I've done 2 events with them and they were very budget-friendly with my arrangements. The trade-off is that you need to see them in person and give them clear direction on what you're looking for: I find also it's better if you're more flexible on the selection of flowers and what's readily available, I would not recommend this place if you have something very specific in mind that you would want for arrangements. I would also recommend picking up the arrangements yourself as well, since they are kind enough to offer delivery to areas closeby but their schedule can be unpredictable. Kim and Eddie are so sweet though, and they've been at this location for so many years and are really a local business that people know. As long as you have the proper expectations (and sometimes the patience to wait on line on the busy hours) they're a great spot to know in the neighborhood. read more

Absolutely in love with what I picked up. First time visiting this place. I was looking for a place that was open past 7 and came across this spot. The line: arrived around 7:50 and waited for about 40 minutes. KEEP IN MIND I went the Friday before Mother's Day and not many florists (not from a grocery store) are open past 7. The wonderful owners: I read that you could tell them your price range and they'll help you choose. I worked with the woman ( i didn't get a name :[ ) and I somewhat expected to be hand held but after looking at the selection I already had the flowers in mind. She recommended the branches as it makes for a lovely combo with the orchids and I was happy she called it out because it looks like a great statement piece of flowers have those. She also informed me how to keep them alive through the night --- thank you for being so patient and thoughtful!!! Flowers: Bought the bouquet Friday night and in the morning I saw some of the bulbs bloomed. I choose yellow Orchids and some other beautiful accompaniments. My budget was under $150. The Tory Burch bag was what I used to hold the plants after I removed them from the water as I'm traveling with the bouquet. Sunny is located outdoors (attached to a bodega) which is on the corner of 6th street and 2nd avenue. She is usually by herself, so I would anticipate a wait if it's a holiday. I've gone late on a weekday around 7pm and have lucked out each time with no wait. She has a large selection of beautiful pre-arranged bouquets in vases. I like picking one of the pre-arrangement bouquets, giving her a price, and then customizing it with more flowers of my liking.
