When it comes to flowers and flower arrangements I am totally and utterly clueless! However I wanted to get a retirement gift for my boyfriend's sweet parents. We had a dinner on a Monday evening and this flower store was conveniently located by my workplace so I decided to get them a flower arrangement. The premade arrangements were pretty but didn't really fit what I had envisioned. I knew which flowers I wanted. The florist/clerk said that I could chose a few flowers and the stylist in the back would help put it together. There are buckets of fresh, beautiful flowers with price tags on them - so you know exactly what you're paying for and how much you're paying. After standing there and Googling every flower to check for the meanings behind them, I ended up choosing a beautiful cymbidium (type of orchid) wax flower, and a few others as fillers. Then I went to the back/little store area where I chose a vase (you don't have to) and had the stylist put my flowers together. He advised that I should get some greens to help balance out the arrangement. It was only an additional $5 and it made such a big difference. Then the florist/clerk came over and advised that I shouldn't include the baby's breath that I had chosen (I chose it as a filler) because the orchid was very elegant and that the filler didn't match. I was so thankful because again I am clueless. She took out the baby's breath from that overall total. The final product was absolutely beautiful! The flowers are so fresh. After I paid I asked if I could come after work to pick it up and they said yes, as long as I came before 6-7. When I picked it up(they kept it in the fridge to keep it fresh), the clerk wrapped the flower in paper. When I told them I'd be taking the train, they helped me put a large see through plastic bag over the top to help protect it from the wind. I'm so very happy with the arrangement! It's absolutely gorgeous (got so many compliments on my commute back). Will definitely be back for all my floral needs in the city! read more

The selection differs every day and all the flowers are fresh and clean looking, not like at the deli near my abode, where you wonder if they are already on the way out before you even hand over your wad of cash...these were vibrant and lively. Perfect for a craptastic rainy day like today. Perfect for brightening up the workplace. Perfect for making me feel good about myself for no reason at all. The prices weren't awful, it's midtown for pete's sake! If you want cheap flowers, hit up the flower district at dawn when they arrive into the city. Come on peeps, you know better than that. Sorry to burst your bubble, but $20 for a sweet bouquet full of springtime goodness just isn't a lot of money in Rockefeller Center. Get real, it's tourist central. In any event, now they are sitting pretty on my desk, and having shopped at the Grand Central location once or twice I know they will last until next Hump Day when I can venture into the underground tunnels of Midtown and pick up some more. Dahlia has been my go-to flower shop when I'm feeling impulsive en route home. Their flowers have always lasted at least a week, and they always offer the most immaculate seasonal collection of florals. My highlight so far has been their peonies - so fragrant! Their bouquets are also very reasonably priced, and a great option if you forgot that certain someone's birthday and Rockefeller center is your subway hub to get home... I especially love their $20 bouquets--expertly assorted and vibrant with color. I'm sure thousands of people see this flower stand daily--and yet no one's yelped about it? Every damn day going to work, I would see all these uptight corporate profiles walking in. So seeing this little flower stand in the Rockefeller tunnels was always great every morning. They've got an interesting selection and it changes every so few days. It's not a full service flower shop and they won't be busting out hotel lobby centerpieces. But they've got a good range of fresh cut flowers and they're flowers, straight up. It was my mother's birthday and needed to quickly pick up a bouquet on my way home. It was hard to find a fresh bunch - all the roses were a little wilted. I ended up with a bouquet of pink roses and picked up some baby's breath as well. I asked the sales associate to help me arrange them and she reluctantly did. I work in the area, and this is my go-to place to pick up flowers after work. It's a small shop, so they place their flowers outside in the concourse area. Very convenient as they're located right next to the train station. They do get a bit more pricey on holidays, but don't they all? And yes, you can probably get cheaper flowers at a city deli, but the quality is better so they'll last much longer. read more

Dahlia's puts all other flower places to shame. I don't how they do it, but the flowers look fresher and last longer. There's another Dahlia's in Grand Central...I think both locations have heavy commuter traffic, so the flower supply turns over rapidly. Horrible service. Delivery schedule is not consistent. Have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but last straw was today. Tried to place an order for delivery today at 3:30pm. I did expect it to be too late for same day, but thought I would check. I received confusing info that no delivery today and maybe the week. I confirmed that no delivery INSIDE 30 Rock for the week. I then was told only delivery on Monday, Thursday and Friday. Before I could place an order for pick up, I was hung up on. This was the last issue for me. In the past I have had issues with placing orders a day in advance and what constitutes a minimum order ($$). There are LOADS of amazing florists in NYC and while Dahlia did produce quality work their customer service Is lacking. For that alone I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I've purchased flowers at Dahlia many times, and while they're overpriced, it's a convenient location to buy flowers. Today I went to purchase flowers for my Grandma's birthday. The selection was limited, so I chose two simple bouquets of white and pink poms. I asked the woman at the stand if she could please wrap the two together so I could present one bouquet to my Grandma, but she said they don't do that. I said please, she said no. I asked if she wouldn't mind if I mixed them, since its very easy to just open the plastic and put the two bunches into one. She said fine, she'd do it. It took maybe one minute for her to put the flowers into one bouquet. I said thank you very much and handed her the $12 ($6 for each bunch, which is overpriced but I was willing to spend it). She informed me it was $12.99. I asked what the $0.99 was for and she said for sales tax. I handed her another dollar and afterwards asked, "I've purchased flowers here many times and never paid more than the price on the bucket, has your policy changed?" She answered that they charge sales tax when they mix flowers, which was obviously made up. If you don't mix flowers, how do you have a sales tax policy on it? Also, $0.99 is a completely arbitrary amount. I had already paid the $12.99 so I took the flowers and left, but with bad feelings toward Dahlia. read more

I gave this place 3 chances. 1st it was great, the Asian lady was very helpful. I got some beautiful flowers for my office. 2nd time was not bad either but it was a quick transaction. 3rd time the Asian lady was sitting down, playing with her phone. When she sees me, she didn't even get up to greet her customer. She just asked, oh what do you need? I asked her a question, she recommended something which I don't remember the name of it. I told her i would like to get that, the Indian lady came over and said something I have no idea because of her accent. So I continue to reach for money out of my pocket. She rolled her eyes as I looked up, she went a grab the flower from the bucket, told me 10 bucks. When she gave me back the money and flower, it felt like she was mad at me or something. Well I'm sorry but I dont understand the words that was coming out of her mouth. Not sure what I did, but i am not going back to that place again to give them my money. I found them by chance and I was impressed by a bouquet they were making for a customer in front of me. I was with my daughter that just graduated college, in cap and gown still, and I picked two bunches of flowers thinking, Nasim, the worker there, would make me a bouquet just as nice as the one she made for the previous customer. Instead she told me "just white paper". When I asked whether they could please find something to add she yelled at me twice "just white paper" and actually waved me away with her hand as she was yelling!!!! The other workers looked at me as if I was crazy for asking anything more! As if the bouquet in front of me never happened. I would have understood if they explained why instead of being so rude. I actually do not know how this place is still in business with the rudeness of the Asian working there!! I was on holiday with my elderly mother when we walked past the stall and I approached this lady asking where the ladies restroom was. She ignored me but I gave her the benefit of the doubt that she maybe didn't hear me or understand and repeated the question again to which I received a very rude "No ladies". I turned to walk away in disbelief and when I looked at my mother's face, I thought "No way". I turned back to the woman and explained I had only asked where the restrooms were and that she didn't have to be so rude and to our amazement she began screaming "Get out of here!!". I went to the upstairs customer services and was told to go back down and ask for the manager, which I did. I asked the male employee who explained the manager worked in a different location. I have tried to look for a contact us page to no avail and as I am now home in the UK I have no other way to make you aware of your employee (although you must already know reading other reviews!!). Limited selection of flowers and they're expensive (but it's Rockefeller Center so that's to be expected). However, the flowers seem to be of a good quality. I agree the previous reviewer about service though and they refuse to combine bunches - extremely simple, 30 second job, of removing plastic from 2 bunches and wrapping them instead of just wrapping them with plastic on. Owner is unfriendly and uninterested in simple ways to keep the customer happy. Consequently, i'll avoid them unless i'm in a jam. read more

Whenever I need flowers, I make sure to stop by Dahlia at the Rockefeller location. It has a nice collection of assorted flowers. I go there at least once a week to get flowers for my house and they always last a while. With such good priced, quality flowers it's hard not to return to the store every week. I also occasionally purchase a vase. They are so beautiful and also reasonably priced. The customer service is great. The employees are always helpful and do a great job of creating bouquets. There is no other place that I would purchase flowers, except for maybe if I was at their second location at Grand Central station. Went here out of convenience but ended up not buying anything for 2 reasons: 1) the flower quality was poor. None of the flowers looked fresh. In fact, many bouquets already had wilted petals. Well, I take that back, the peonies looked fresh; and 2) the Indian woman working the stand just stared at me - never greeted me or asked if I need helped. Nothing, zilch, nada! All I got was a long, cold, unfriendly stare. I browsed for quite awhile, trying to find a bouquet that was fresh (to no avail) and the whole time the worker just...stared. I've never had my joyful morning dampened so quickly as when I stopped here to buy birthday flowers for a friend. I asked which roses were the freshest and she snapped at me and literally yelled that they were all fresh, do not ask her that. Well, excuse me. Horrible, the woman continued ranting on and on...
