Look, Lady Who Probably Owns Seaport Flowers: We both know I'm an idiot, and that it's my fault for not planning better. I get that your busy. I know you're stressed. I know it's one of the busiest days of the year for you, and I know I'm a terrible boyfriend. That's why I apologized profusely. That said, if you just can't handle my business, tell me that. I'll go somewhere else. Going on and on about how many people are ahead of me, and how many orders you have to take care of isn't helping either of us. Luckily, your sweetheart of an employee took advantage of my willingness to get in and get out and pay quite a lot of money for a few stems she threw together in seconds. She did what was necessary to get me out of your shop quickly, happily, and I am very, very appreciative. Thank you. The price I paid was fairly steep for what I got, but they are excellent flowers, beautifully presented, and I will go back to Seaport. I'll just call ahead next time. read more

OMG I never get flowers and all I can say is WOW. I got a call from security telling me I have flowers waiting for me downstairs. No idea who would get me flowers but who could resist. I'm thinking ok 1800 flowers, proflowers and when I walk down to security OMG this is the good stuff. I could smell the flowers about 15 ft away and holy cow. I cant say how awesome these flowers are and I'm sure it cost a pretty penny. A+ 5 stars! read more

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Amy and the Seaport Flowers team for our wedding at Liberty Warehouse this past May!! Amy was supportive and thoughtful throughout the process, meeting with us and helping us design the flowers and arrangements for the day. We had complete trust in her design process, and she did a fabulous job. She was easy to work with to coordinate logistics and she handled all of the set-up and take-down on the day of. She decorated our ceremony space with gorgeous ferns and greenery and made stunning arrangements throughout the reception space that family and friends raved about. Our bouquets, boutonnieres and wedding cake were absolutely perfect. In addition, she created an elegant design of different vases that guests were able to take home as favors after the wedding. It was such a fun idea, that now means we get to see the vases from our wedding at the homes of friends and family all year. Amy and her staff created a gorgeous arrangement for us to congratulate the new parents of a baby girl. The results were stunning ... ranunculus, hyacinths, tulips, lilacs, and callas, with ruscus for greenery. A gorgeous breath of spring for a beautiful new life. I can be a bit of a control freak when it comes to flowers because I adore them, grow them in our garden, and have definite ideas about what I like. But after a trusty yelp search, a cyber stroll through the photos on Seaport's website, and an email chat with Amy, I felt complete confidence in her impeccable taste and considerable skills. Start to finish, I could not have asked for more. She promptly returned my email inquiry even on a day they were closed, was so easy and pleasant to work with, delivered when she said she would, and most importantly -- created floral magic. I found Seaport Flowers on a list of required florists from my wedding venue. Unfortunately, they are closed the week of our wedding in August, but the owner, Amy, took fifteen minutes of frantic-Valentine's-Day-prep time to make thoughtful recommendations to me about what sorts of flowers would be best on our wedding date. She asked me questions and rattled off about a dozen flowers I had never thought of that were colorful, local, and heat resistant. She then gave me some direction on the other florists on the list so that I could make an informed decision on what company to go to. And she did ALL of this two days before Valentine's Day (silly me for not thinking of this before I called) AND with the knowledge that she wasn't going to be getting any business from me because she'd be closed. I wish she were open, because her friendly demeanor and down-to-earth style would have made Seaport Flowers a dream to work with, for sure. read more

What can be said that hasn't been said already about this wonderful shop? I have been walking past the Brooklyn location quite frequently for over a year, admiring the displays and always wanting to pop in. Finally popped in today and fell in love with a fig tree that was "on hold for weeks for another customer". I expressed very strong interest throughout the time I spent perusing the store and put myself on the waiting list in case the sale fell through. Everything in this store is beautiful and the staff is sweet and accommodating, answering any and all questions. I left with every intention to come back and keep this place in mind for home decor ideas as well as flower arrangement needs. A little after I got home I got a call letting me know that the sale of the fig tree had indeed fallen through and if I wanted it, I could get it for a particularly good deal as it had been sitting there for weeks waiting for a home that no longer wanted it. I made the purchase right then and there. They deliver in the neighborhood for free. For years, I have heard my friends rave about Seaport Flowers and had always admired their display window but I had never actually visited them until last Thanksgiving. I was picking up various last minute items and passed one of the most beautiful window displays I had seen. I immediately decided flowers would make a great additional gift for my Thanksgiving host. Thankfully, they were open and the owner was there. I explained where I was going and what I thought would be nice to include in the arrangement as long as it included the gorgeous peonies they had on display. I gave her a price range and let her do her thing. She put together one of the most beautiful arrangements!! Everyone, especially my Thanksgiving host, absolutely adored them!! Shop owner Amy undoubtedly has a great eye--not just for flowers, but for accessories as well. She regularly stocks vintage items that she picks up on antiquing trips upstate. I keep going back because I love her stuff so much. However, getting your hands on things you see in the shop is not easy. On several occasions, an item I really needed to have was "on hold indefinitely" for a "very good customer" who ultimately didn't buy the object. And just because an item has a price tag does not mean it's actually for sale. Staff turnover is high and as a result it's hard to get questions answers, especially, when the shop is busy (which is almost all the time), and Amy herself is not available. Everyone seems very willing, but unless you're considered "a very good customer, a status I have not been able to achieve after 10 years of shopping there, it's hard not to feel like the poor relations. More than once I've vowed never to go in there again to avoid frustration, but it never lasts long. A good boundary test for design co-dependents! read more

Amy and her staff were amazing to work with for our wedding in March 2013. I had in-person or phone meetings with 3-4 other florists before stumbling upon Seaport and I felt immediately trusting and on the same page as Amy the first time we spoke. Amy was great about working within my budget and vision to create incredibly beautiful and artistic arrangements, bouquets and boutonnieres for a wedding of ~200. She also was super knowledgable about what flowers would be in season when my wedding rolled around so that we could be authentic to the season. She even stored the vessels and tabletop decor at her shop leading up to the wedding -- above and beyond customer service. This is very over due. But, Seaport did all of the flowers for my wedding in 2009. Amy and her staff where just wonderful! It was the last detail that we got together, and I think she had something like 6 weeks notice before the wedding. The flowers were gorgeous, she interpreted our vision with little to go on. This is a delightful flower shop (with some lovely decor items as well) and the only place in the city where I feel I can give them a budget and some basic color ideas and they put the most marvelous arrangements together for me. Amy is so friendly and knowledgeable and knows all the regulars by name, she really makes the store what it is. The prices are very reasonable for a high end florist... If you really want to fill a vase for under $7, this might not be the place but if you want an exquisite bouquet for home or for a gift, do not go anywhere else!! read more

Amazing! Seaport Flowers did my bridal bouquet, and though the wedding had it's chaotic moments the bouquet was stunningly together. It has also lasted for five days and still looks fresh and beautiful. The ladies at Seaport are true artists, professionals, and wonderful people. For a long time I'd been afraid to go into the shop because I was afraid their gorgeous creations would be out of my price range but I was surprised to discover that they are an incredible value for such magnificent work. The owner is kind, gracious, and knowledgeable. I've walked in on busy days and although I could tell the owner was juggling quite a bit, she took the time to greet me with a smile, a pleasant word, and made sure I had what I needed. She gets the meaning of customer service as do her staff members. The flowers, plants, and home decor are lovely and well-made. Yes, the prices are high but you get what you pay for. "Daily" when they're closed for a whole week over the Fourth isn't the case and "Ridgewood is too far" for my delivery (it abuts Brooklyn and is closer than Manhattan). The flowers and arrangements are bar none the best in Brooklyn and probably in NYC. I have not gotten better flowers from anywhere else... The real issue with Seaport Flowers is the interaction with the team. The times I've called, I've been extremely disappointed with the phone manner. I have never heard voices dripping with so much inconvenience that I'm choosing to spend my money on super expensive flowers. I'm never asked how I'm doing. The appreciation for my business is not expressed. There's zero kindness in the interaction. It's one of those big let downs where you're feeling good about sending someone flowers, but that euphoria is deflated from such a cold encounter. Given that you're not open on Mondays or Tuesdays and only do arrangements starting at $75 pre-delivery charge, the very least you can do is handle my business graciously. read more

My family brought me flowers for Mother's Day. My husband called 4 days before to arrange it. They looked a little haphazardly thrown together, but I was still happy because I love peonies. But then, they started losing the petals almost right away. We had put them in water within minutes of leaving the shop and they were kept out of direct sunlight. By the second day most of the petals had fallen off. I wrote the owner, and she explained this type of flower's general characteristics but never acknowledged them dropping the leaves so fast. She offered to replace them, which was courteous, but I'd expect more from a $100 bouquet. This place has such great reviews, I am sorry to say we didn't have the same experience. read more

Seaport Flowers consistently puts together the most artistic, incredible flower arrangements. I just had them put together an arrangement for a friend...and wow, brown orchids/orange roses. I have gone to many other florists in the area, but the level of care and creativity comes nowhere near that of Seaport Flowers. I am not sure how far they deliver, but I would definitely choose Seaport over Opalia (extremely overpriced) or Floral Heights (not as good quality). read more

Amy Gardella, the owner, is not a florist. She is an artist. An artist who also happens to be incredibly knowledgable about flowers (and plants of all sorts, because she does not limit her palette to traditional buds). She can put them together in imaginative arrangements which appeal to all the senses, and which can last (with a bit of pruning as time goes by) for as much as 2 or 3 weeks. I walked by her store on Hicks St every day for years, and I continue to mourn the fact that she moved to a roomier shop (with an outdoor space) on Henry Street. I know it's nicer for her (and customers) there, but selfishly I wish she were still on Hicks street and I could stop by to admire the arrangements and chat regularly with this lovely and talented woman. Of course I am willing to go out of my way to go to her new location, but I miss seeing her beautiful window as I get milk, walk the dog or accompany my kids home from school every day. read more

Incredible flowers. I live in the neighborhood and I've stopped by a number of times to purchase flowers. The quality of the flowers and the arrangements are the best I've ever seen. They work with your budget and the results are always spectacular. My only quibble, is that they seem to have inconsistent hours (especially on weekends). But if they're open, definitely go in. We had many meetings with her in her shop and each time she gave us ample time to go over everything. She never once made me feel like I was bothering her or that I was being rushed.
