Looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if there was any baby's breath or anything similar available to fill it out some. We loved the Spring Walk to Workshop!! My daughter and I attended the Spring Walk to Workshop as a special travel experience during our vacation in NYC. We had a wonderful time making lasting memories. It was an amazing opportunity to experience the New York flower market in Chelsea with the fabulously-talented owner of Flower Girl, Denise Porcaro Tupper, and her delightful staff. We met in the flower district on a beautiful Spring morning. We saw such a gorgeous array of beautiful plants and flowers. It was a great time for experiencing Spring flowers; lilacs, tulips, peonies,hydrangeas, roses, wisteria were in abundance. We saw gorgeous tropical foliage, orchids, succulents and great big branches for creating spectacular and ethereal floral designs. We visited a huge showroom of dried flowers in every color imaginable. Denise helped us pick out 8-10 types of flowers and greenery to make a fabulous combination of colors and texture. I've never seen such such gorgeous and fresh flowers. We chose Ranunculous,Sweet Pea, Anenome, Lilac, Lisianthus, spray roses, Astranthia, Waxflower and Seeded Eucalyptus. Denise was incredibly generous with her time and insights about her career and business which was so wonderful for my daughter who is just getting started in the industry. Denise is such a wonderful role model of creativity and success. We strolled a few blocks to the Flower Girl shop where we had a lovely array of fruit and pastries and coffee. Denise gave us a primer on prepping our flowers and shared her design philosophy in creating an arrangement. She also gave us practical info about caring for our arrangements for a longer vase life. We received an adorable Flower Girl tote bag with goodies including a fab smelling signature Flower Girl candle,a note pad, and a pair of vintage style scissors. A professional photographer took pictures of us with our arrangements so we have a lasting record of them. We left the shop and delivered our arrangements to a friend of my daughter who lives in the city since we were getting on a plane the next day. She was surprised and delighted! I highly recommend taking a Flower Girl workshop. It is a fabulous experience you will never forget! read more

*BUYER BEWARE* I rarely write reviews, but feel the need to write one for Flower Girl so other customers are not fooled like I was. I was extremely disappointed by the $150 flower arrangement I received from Flower Girl, so I emailed them asking for a refund. They told me there was nothing they could do, because the flowers I received were what was pictured on their website. I will let you decide for yourself if these flowers look anything like the "how classy" arrangement on their website. Not only did the flowers I received take no flower arranging skills whatsoever, they were brown on the second day, and dead on the third. Please see images with timestamps attached. The fact this arrangement costs $150 is a joke in and of itself. It was a small arrangement of spray roses, roses, and callalilies. The picture on their website at least shows ranunculus, which would warrant a slightly higher pricepoint, but that was not the case with the arrangement I received. Please know that what is pictured on their website is NOTHING even close to what you will receive! Do yourself a favor and purchase flowers from a real florist with integrity. Flower Girl did the flowers for my wedding this past weekend and they were incredibly beautiful. They made the space look elegant and all the guests were so impressed (and came in under my budget!). Went to a baby shower here and the lady who was there was so friendly and helpful. We had more people than expected and she was able to go get more chairs so everyone can sit and get comfortable. The interior was very cute and cozy. We had delicious food and drinks. Inside isn't very big but it adds to the homey feeling. It's a good place to hold small private events. I also got taught how to make my own Terrarium and it was very fun. I'm not very arts and crafty but had a good time making it. Highly recommend for people who want to hold small private events. My bouquet was absolutely gorgeous and everything I hope it would be. They truly went above and beyond to create the bouquet of my dreams. It matched the image I provided, but was even more elegant and tailored to my tastes. The garlands for our tables were equally beautiful, but we had agreed to have two ceiling installations put in the space and at the last minute, it just didn't happen. They installed one installation BEHIND a couch so that no one could see it and the ivy that was supposed to go around a few columns was anemic at best. All cost quite a lot of money, for this reason they lose a star (contemplated on it requiring a loss of two), but truly my bouquet was what mattered to me most and it was just stunning. My biggest suggestion while working with them is to know that they are expensive and if you have a big budget, they can work wonders. If you are in a pinch, I would select one or two areas that you want to focus on and find cheaper options for everything else. read more

The flowers were exactly what I wanted, but even more gorgeous that I could have imagined. I can't even explain how overjoyed I was when the bouquets arrived, they were just beautiful. All of the girls loved them and I got so many compliments throughout the day. Denise was definitely one of my favorite vendors to work with - she was professional, super responsive, and knew exactly what I wanted. During a stressful time, she gave me one less thing to worry about because I knew that I was in good hands. I just signed up to yelp to share my negative experience with this place, as it has been bothering me since yesterday. I needed to send flowers yesterday but had trouble finding something tasteful downtown, finally I found this place online which seemed to be exactly the type of flower shop I was looking for. I called at 6pm to check at what time they would be closing as I needed to get some flowers delivered the following day. I was told that they would be open until 7pm so I jumped in a cab and made it at 6:30PM. The shopkeeper greeted me by saying hat I had basically caught her at closing time but she was willing to help me anyhow, so I felt a little unwelcome from the get go. She asked me what price range I was looking to spend on the arrangement. Starting price is 125$ for a small copper bucket that looked a little small so I opted for the second most affordable option which was 150$ and a little larger. As she was busy working on a another bouquet and not even looking at me, I told her that I was into their white and yellow flowers but she didn't seem the least bit interested so I ended up picking a type of pale yellow flowers for my bouquet. After I had made my choice she gave me a form to fill in with the delivery address, credit card info and the note I wished to include with the flowers. Once completed, she then asked for my card to run the transaction (retrospectively, I don't understand why she had me fill out my credit card info on a form) and announced that the total would be $203.00. Sensing that I was slightly taken aback she explained that the delivery and tax made up for the difference. I was a little annoyed to be told the total price at this point in the conversation and hesitated for a instant whether to go ahead as it was now clearly much more then what I had planned to spend but I decided that if I did't go though with it now, I would end up not sending flowers at all and everything would have been a waist of time so I went ahead and swiped my card. She then wished me a good night which again surprised me as I was under the impression that she would make the bouquet and that I would see it. But clearly I could see now that there was no way that would happen. She said the bouquet would be prepared by someone else tomorrow as she wasn't working that day. Since I had seen her take an Iphone picture of the bouquet she had completed in front of me, I asked if she could put a note with my order for the person to send me a picture of my bouquet. She smiled as if I was really pushing it and said that they don't normally do that but offered to show me what it would look like from a picture on their website. It looked great on the website but that didn't give me much comfort. I asked if they could make an exemption and put a note for an iphone picture to be sent to me, she explained that if they had to do that for every bouquet they made, that would be too time consuming. At that point, I sensed that the interaction was about to become confrontational, so I decided not to insist at the risk of pissing her off which I feared would have negative consequences on my bouquet. We politely exchange good byes and thank yous and I left with a horribly bitter feeling. Deep down, I was hoping that I would get an iphone pic of the bouquet anyways but that obviously didn't happen. I also didn't receive a confirmation that the bouquet was delivered and will never now for sure what my 200$ really bought. Hopefully I will get a thank you note from the recipient which will give me comfort that at least something was delivered. Do yourself a favor and avoid buying flowers from florists, but if you have to do it, don't do it there. It's a nice store but it is not worth the pain. read more

This is for the Gansevoort Market location, and more specifically, the chocolate that is sold there. I haven't had a chance to visit the Eldridge Street store. The flowers are gorgeous albeit rather expensive, and all of the little trinkets, such as unique cast-iron scissors for trimming your flowers and "smudges", FG's take on incense, are moderately priced and very cute. Also, the young woman working the counter was a delight, she was very helpful and was able to walk me trough all of the merchandise. Unfortunately, I decided to try the Flower Girl x Farm Candy collaborative chocolate, which cost a whopping $15. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it definitely was not this. It had dried flowers and salt on it, which sounded good in theory. However upon taking a bite, I immediately thought of the recent viral video in which Haitians eat dirt cookies in order to survive famine. If one was to take a bite of clay pottery, this is what it would taste like. Don't buy that chocolate. Stick to flowers, Flower Girl. read more

So many new additions to this gorgeous establishment since my last review! First of all, I'm obsessed with their flower crowns. I have seen several of them and they are nothing but exquisite and sweet. My friend also used one for her wedding and it was to-die-for. So romantic yet hip :) They have updated their website completely and it is easy to navigate and use, basically making you want to throw everything into your cart. I love their custom candles and their collaboration with Farm Candy. The chocolates are delicious and they make the sweetest gifts (if you don't end up keeping them for yourself!). I'm so sad to give a negative to review here. I ordered the City Hall package over the phone for when my husband and I were going to get our marriage license. The flowers I received were beautiful and on time, but the bouquet and boutonniere were both so massive that they were completely wasted - it would have torn my husband's lapel if I'd tried to put it on, and the bouquet flowers filled two entire vases when we disassembled it. They were also wrapped in a rough, soaking wet rope (not the silken handle as shown on the website) which I didn't want anywhere near my white outfit. Denise and the Flower Girl team were great! They were our florist for our wedding in November 2017. She was very flexible with our budget and the flowers turned out amazing. As we had a lot of tables and limited budget she was able to help us make every table look amazing, whether with the beautiful bouquets, hurricanes and greens, or utilizing bridesmaid bouquets. Additionally, she provided great feedback based on my style and preference based on the season, of what flowers would complement. As we were married in November and a lot of images on pinterest are flowers more in bloom in the summer. The bridesmaid and bride bouquets were beautiful, and held up great the whole day. My bouquet dried amazing and is still on display. They made the entire process easy and would definitely use them again for an event. read more

I don't like leaving negative reviews and I have been debating for a while, but I decided that I should tell my story. I ordered flower arrangements from Flower Girl for the first time in January and everything went well. But in March, I ordered flowers for a corporate event and sent a confirmation email with address, delivery time, and other details TWICE, once when I placed the order and then once again the day before. I get a call from my boss stating that they were not delivered. I called Flower Girl and spoke to their rep who I would highly recommend NOT talking to. She said that the delivery time I set was before their opening hours (10:30am) and asked if I would still like the flowers delivered post-event. She tried to make it sound like I didn't communicate the delivery time, and said she could still deliver the flowers. Why would I need the flowers post event?? To add insult to injury, when I asked for a refund, she said she didn't know if she could give me one, and would call me back later. I gave her a bunch of attitude and demanded a refund. Luckily, she called back a few hours later to give me a full refund. I would absolutely never order flowers from then again. I understand that mistakes happen, but the insult of trying to deny my refund and trying to blame me when it was a mistake on their end was just unacceptable. Terrible customer service. I only gave them 2 stars since they delivered the first time. But after the second experience, absolutely not because she couldn't take responsibility for her mistake and I had to demand a refund when it should have been offered. read more

I don't know what else to say other than they did the worst possible thing a florist can do...nothing. I ordered a $100 arrangement last Thursday for next-day delivery. This afternoon (one week later) I get an email saying the order was cancelled because they "did not have enough stock to fulfill your order." I understand that florists run out of certain arrangements and can't fulfill an order, but when that happens, you let the client know, or you substitute something of equal value, or you don't take the order in the first place. You don't accept the order, sit on it for a week past the scheduled delivery date, and then cancel the order on Friday afternoon. Normally I wouldn't be as upset, but the would-be flowers were for a client of ours who had just been released from the hospital, so now we look like jerks. It's a tiny place with limited offerings so I don't expect to see the same flowers each time and I like that I ended up purchasing different varieties. As consumers, sometimes bad experiences with vendors happen. When it does, typically, we just brush it off and move on. My experience with Flower Girl was so bad that I could not simply let it go, I needed to share this story so hopefully you don't fall into the trap that I did for our October 2013 wedding. My fiancee and I met Denise five months prior to our October 2013 wedding. My fiancee instantaneously fell in love with her approach to our vision and I was very pleased to hear that she claimed that she would be able to execute on that vision within our $5,000 flower budget. Her shop was really nice too. A 50% deposit was required to secure Flower Girl's services for our big day and we wrote that check with confidence that they would deliver flawlessly. The remaining balance was due one week prior to the event. We received our final invoice about a month prior to the event and it was for $10,000, 100% more than our original agreed upon budget. I thought it was a mistake, gave them the benefit of the doubt and inquired as to why the invoiced amount was wrong. Upon connecting with them, it was explained to me that our vision was expensive and it would cost $10,000 to make that vision a reality. This was a very different message from our initial meeting where we were assured that we could get what we wanted for less than or equal to $5,000. I was told that if I wanted to spend the original budget of $5,000, our arrangements would look cheap. It was terrible of them to create this uncomfortable situation for my fiancee and I so late in the game. They scared us into thinking that room would be ugly if we did not spend the $10k. We felt extorted sitting on a revised proposal for double our original budget two weeks away from the wedding. We did not feel that it was possible to start from scratch again with another florist so we obliged. We were able to cut some corners and get the total price down to $7500. We agreed and figured that the flowers would be beyond our expectations and make the day even more beautiful, so we paid. What a mistake. The day of the wedding came and the flowers were completely wrong. The centerpieces were very skimpy, they looked like $60 arrangements that we could buy at other higher end florists in Manhattan but Flower Girl charged us $450 for each of them, not including tax, set-up and break down. The funny part about the breakdown was that Denise claimed that we could not save any money in this area since the centerpieces would be so big and heavy that it would require a crew to dismantle them. My 4 and 6 year old niece and nephew could have carried these on a 10 mile hike. It was like a joke. The bridal bouquet was wilted and the color scheme wrong. I tried to call them before the wedding ceremony started to complain, but nobody was there to help me and the person who answered the phone was only working the shop and not able to locate anybody I needed to connect with. Long story short, I was able to stop payment on the check and Denise agreed to a lower amount weeks after the wedding. I still think that the $4,500 I ended up paying was too much, but at least it was within our original budget. I hope you read this if you are considering this florist for your event. Don't get ripped off from Flower Girl like we did. Get quotes from at least 3 different florists and check references. I wish I had done more homework before giving Flower Girl my business. They advised that they are monochromatic and don't have red but could do a special order. They asked me to send pictures of what I wanted and what I was wearing and they would get me a price. I did. They never got back to me. I got back to them. They asked that I email more info. I did. They still did not get back to me. I called today and they have no knowledge of anything and "cannot do special orders". This is now RIGHT before my event and I have to scramble. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY Flower Girl nyc. The one bad decision I made for our wedding. Debbie was horrible to deal with. Rude and condescending in the way she spoke to me. She actually told me her time is precious after I had shared some images and notes for our wedding by across three emails within one day. Who says that to not only a bride but a customer! Planning the wedding from Sydney, we never actually met so as you can imagine everything was done via email, exchanging of images etc.. It got to a stage a few weeks out I couldn't stand speaking to her. I'd feel really anxious even seeing her name in my inbox. I had to have the planner take over discussions and deal with her. The most upsetting thing for me was just four days before the wedding we get to our rehearsal at the ceremony venue, something that should have been a nice, exciting and memorable experience to find out the pampas grass installation I not only had in mind, planned and had dreamed about using for our wedding for years AND that I was assured six months prior to the wedding date that I was able to have, Denise didn't bother having it stored at the temperature it required and it was unusable. My planner sat me down to show me images of the weed like twigs Flower Girl were attempting to use in place of what was planned to save having to refund us and it was terrible. It was exactly like wheat stalks, not decorative, fluffy and pretty at all. I asked for a refund and was left with no installation. Pampas grass had been part of our proposal, contract and correspondence from the very beginning. Not only was this whole plan crushed for me during our rehearsal, Denise didn't even have the decency to apologise, she simply emailed confirmation of the refund that had been processed. If you let someone down like that you apologise for it. If all of this wasn't enough. I spent the year saying no pink flowers to sit down at the bridal table to have in front of me a pink flower in the arrangement. I also made it clear no eucalyptus. She used them on all boutonnières. The sample bridesmaid bouquet we were charged for was a poor effort at recreating from a photo I provided. Literally half the amount of some flowers and double of others. When I questioned the difference I was treated like an idiot. During the entire process, Denise was either too good or too busy to explain what she was planning for our day so that I could feel we were on the same page based on the inspo and ref pics I had provided her. I had to resort to drawing things and telling her to just do what I had drawn. She was extremely reluctant to provide any examples. You'd think planning a destination wedding there'd be an understanding that there's a need for examples to be provided if a customer is unable to meet for consults or for further clarification. Considering the time saved with not having to meet me at all, you'd think throwing me an example here and there wouldn't have been too much effort. She was quite stingy on the table arrangements too and failed at doing what I wanted with the candles for all of the tables including our cake table. The way the candles were positioned looked like they were scattered randomly and as though no effort was put in at all. I'm extremely disappointed I used flower girl nyc for our wedding. I was enjoying the planning process until I started dealing with Denise. Stay away if you value your vision for your wedding. read more

There is zero instruction about how to actually arrange. No one comes by and checks your 'work'. It's really just a flower party where people can have wine and cheese and play with flowers. They said they "don't know". I then spoke to the manager who said they're "just like the picture" on the website. I went ahead based on the few excellent reviews. $200 later, I am angry and disappointed. The arrangement was absolutely not as advertised. Instead of summer flowers in season, I received an arrangement of three red chrysanthemums and greenery. That's it. My friend thanked me for the kind gesture but never mentioned the flowers. It was only when I saw them in a vase the size of a coffee mug in the background of a photo did I inquire and she confessed that she was surprised at the "Christmas" arrangement, but understood that flowers from FlowerGirl are expensive so felt bad saying anything to me. Bottom line is that this shop creates the most beautiful arrangements in NY... by far. Their work is consistently photographed and published in top magazines. Having said that, be sure to take into consideration that they're very busy. read more

I have done two classes/events with Flower Girl and was very happy with both! I did a flower arranging class and came home with the most gorgeous arrangement and could not believe I actually did it myself! I learned some great flower arranging tips and I look forward to doing another one of these classes! I also did the Walk in the Flower Mart morning and it was delightful. Flower Girl owner Denise gave the group an "insider's tour" and ending with tea was lovely. I have been very pleased with Flower Girl NYC and look forward to more flower education and experiences with Denise in the future. read more
