We absolutely loved coming to Dainteas! We came here for Mother's Day as my mom is a big fan of teatime and dainteas did not disappoint us! It has Alison Wonderland theme which made more of the experience fun. Not many tea places have fun themed like that. You can dress up or have kids play games while waiting for food. The staff were all super sweet and constantly to make sure we have plenty of tea. The spread for the afternoon tea was delicious. My favorites were the chocolate covered strawberries and the chicken salad sandwich. The staff were so sweet when my mom left her sweater. They texted to let me know and sent me home with more chocolate covered strawberries! There are not many tea places in the east bay so it's nice to know that we will have a good local spot we can go back to. We had fun. The food was good, and we both took home leftovers. My friend was overjoyed at the decor. Service was minimal but sufficient and friendly. The tea was good, but you're mostly there for the creative concept. Got some cute pictures. Seems like it would be great for a small children's birthday party. We might make it an annual event. My main complaint is that the food is mostly sugar, and there's not really options to request a different menu. But everything was fresh and tasty. As I like to try out different tea houses, my cousin searched for one and found this place which is closer to her home. I did not read any of the reviews and went in blind so as not to cloud my judgement. From the outside, the tea room looks small but as you enter it is pretty spacious, with high ceilings and cute decor, it was specifically made for a child's venue. As we enter, I heard a bouncing ball, where there was a birthday going on and the girls were playing four square. There was a lot of empty room so it was really echoey. So the ambience...not quiet. We were seated promptly even though not all our party was there. The set up was cute, the tea pots had signs that say drink me on one side and the flavor of the tea on the other. So the pricing was good at $26 for a prefix menu. I think it is cheaper because not everyone gets a pot of tea. We were only given 3 pots for 6 people. The teas were delicious, I just wish we were able to have at least one more since we would just repeat the teas we already had. The prefix menu was okay. We went on a day where the power could have been shut off so they had premade everything. The scones were hard, that was a no no for me. The rest of the food was okay. The sandwiches were a bit hard also. I wasn't too impressed on their Mac salad, then again, I don't like sweet Mac. The desserts were fine, a pastry puff, strawberry shortcake and cookies. The cookies were kind of hard but had a good taste. Maybe if there was no problem with the power, the food would have been baked fresh. That is something I cannot discern. As I said, it is more of a child's place than for adults. If you are looking for that specific ambience of calm I wouldn't go here. If you are looking for a place to bring children and have tea, well this is the perfect place, hence I give it a 4 star. read more

I was very excited when I found out this place opened. It is nice to have an afternoon tea place in the area! This business is fairly new and it seems like the owner is still navigating how she'll run her business. Overall everything was lovely and I can't wait to see how the business develops as time goes by. There were two things I want to point out and I hope in the future she has a different system for them. One, you have to give your credit card number to secure a reservation. It makes sense because she makes/bakes everything fresh so she needs a head count for the food. It feels a bit uncomfortable to give over the phone your credit card number. I didn't have any problems at all but maybe if there is an online system in the future or another way to secure the reservation it might make people feel more comfortable. Second, there is a fixed price $26. For my daughter (who is older) and I, this was totally fine. I think though if you are bringing a small child like 3-5 years old it might feel a bit pricy since they usually don't eat much. I hope maybe in the future she'll have different menus to choose from. Again, this is constructive criticism, it is not a big deal but I figured I should be honest about it. The place is super clean and pretty. It is perfect for little kids. She has an Alice in Wonderland theme and it is absolutely lovely. There is a playhouse and hats for people to wear if you wish. The location has its own parking lot which is always nice. The food is really good. Everything is baked fresh! The scones are good! I hope she adds other options for sandwiches! The two that come with the price are delicious! But it's SO true! First off - this is a wonderful place to just have tea, with or without kids. Nice selection of teas, amazing fresh food, and a welcoming atmosphere! With kids, it just shines! There's, of course, the play area. But Disney favorite tunes were playing for us as we walked in, a jar full of ice cubes helped cool the tea down for my daughter, etc, etc. So thoughtful! Owner is so wonderful! It's just her running the place and getting it launched, so she's reservations only at this point (she needs a headcount to prepare food ahead of time!). I had reservations to go into Dainteas this last Sunday, and I was so excited to come in to show my mom, because every year we have our "annual tea" time together. Well, I came down with the flu and had no choice but to cancel. I was so extremely heart broken because I was looking forward to it all week. I told the owner my situation and we were lucky enough to get it to-go. So my mom and I ended up having tea time after all! I am so extremely thankful and blown away. We held a baby shower and had nine guests. For starters, we were assured that there would be so much food, and that patrons could use take-home boxes for the leftover food. We asked to substitute one of their 1/4 size bread ham sandwiches. What we received was a cracker (the size of a nickel!) with a tapenade (one for each guest). Our guests left feeling hungry and not satisfied! In addition, this tea room only provided two pots of teas. Yes, they were refillable, but two? The price for this fare was $52.00 pp (including tax). I've done better in Walnut Creek or San Francisco. Such a disappointment. I'd never recommend this place. I'm so happy to have Dainteas in this area! The business owner really bent over backwards to accommodate our rather large party last minute during the holidays. The food is delicious and there was an impressive collection of teas. She even offered gluten free options (best to ask in advance). We had a group of 8 year old girls with us and they had a great time playing make believe in the playhouse while the moms chatted in peace. There is a great space for children to roam freely, play and have fun while the adults sip on food and drinks in mismatched beautiful China and lace. But let's stop for a moment and talk about the food! Dainteas serves food that is on par with some of the best five star hotels! Which is quite a change from what is expected since children play spaces and good food usually don't go hand in hand (Chuck E Cheese anyone?) But everything that was brought out from the kitchen was decadent. The strawberry apple preserves is homemade and has the perfect sweet and tart balance. The homemade lemon curd is rich and tangy and melts in your mouth. Both different types of scones are buttery and just out of this world! The array of sandwiches were fresh and complemented each other. I am gluten free so I thoroughly enjoyed the fresh macaron with ganache filling and the modified version of the strawberries and cream. The owner even made a special birthday treat for the birthday girl and friends. I highly recommend this place! read more

This is such a sweet tea room for kids and adults alike! I took my kindergartener for a special outing, and she was so jazzed. The play area is perfect for little ones. I only wished I'd brought a grown-up friend to enjoy tea with as she ran around and played! The hats were such a great touch, as were the "Alice and Wonderland" decorative elements. My only suggestion would be to have a bit more of a customizable menu. I'd imagine the prix fixe menu makes this small business feasible from a budgetary and staffing perspective and truly don't mind it, but it would be nice as they get more firmly established to be able to choose, for example, two of three types of tea sandwiches. For $53 a person, we received 4 whole sandwiches for the entire party, 1 Ritz cracker, each topped with egg salad and a variety of baked goods. Very overpriced. I had my daughter's 5th birthday at Dainteas. First, reservations were very easy. There was fast response time and it was easy to get a time slot for the birthday party. Second, the location was perfect. It was a perfect spot and easily accessible to all party attendees. Third, the ambiance and customer service. The kids felt very comfortable at the birthday party. There was plenty to keep them busy and entertained while waiting to eat and drink tea. The workers were extremely friendly, helpful and patient. The food an tea was superb!! Extremely tasty, and I knew it would be because before I even went into the building, it smelled like a bakery. They served tea in china. They kept precautions for COVID regulations. And most importantly, they made my little girl feel like a princess on her special day. I highly recommend Dainteas to anyone. Not what I expected for a tea house. It was so loud in there. We were not impressed with the overall experience. The finger sandwiches and baked goods were not tasty or flavorful. Do not go if you are looking for a adult tea time experience with your friends or family. This place is designed for little kids. I was under the impression it was comparable to my local tea house that closed its business doors due to retirement and Covid. It's too expensive for what we received and there were no other sandwiches or salads offered on the menu. Also, the menu listed a $5 charge to ask for ice in your tea or glass of water which we thought was ridiculous. The strawberry tea was tasty. Yet, the chai tea was too spicy for our tastebuds that we left with an upset stomach. Difficult to ask for a refund when this was our fist time wanting to love this experience but we will not return. Again, too expensive for what they offer on their specific menu. And we were only allowed two teas to choose from. I have my own collection of tea pots and tea cups which I should have taken to use. I'm all for supporting small businesses, especially ones that are owned by women. We had a tea party for my daughter, but charging $40 for each child felt overpriced, given they only took a few bites of the food and drank only ONE pot of hot chocolate. Service was so minimal because only one person was working: one person serving the food and beverages, as well as also doing the food prep. Nothing was really explained in terms of how the tea party was going to go. It was not as organized as we had envisioned. The bill was shocking; kids should not be charged $40 each (yes, I'm still reeling). And, then we didn't realize that the adults only got to pick 2 teas for the entire table (there were 6 of us). We only used up the initial tea served to us and were left to figure out our own tea service if we needed to refill the pot (which we ended up not doing because we didn't have someone in the main tea room to ask; the lady was in the back prepping food most of the time). The place was okay though, with a good play area for kids. If you are thinking of doing a party here, make sure you are clear on what you are getting, especially the cost so you don't walk away with a bill that will leave you questioning your sanity. It will save you a lot of anxiety, too. I'd like to say I recommend this place, but I cannot justify it. If you have a smaller party, maybe. But I'd find another venue for a party that is more reasonable in terms of cost, service, and food; if you want to try high tea, this is not the place for it. read more
