When we tried this place there were two people working behind the counter but they were quick and efficient, while still offering great customer service. It wasn't crowded and there were plenty of empty places to sit inside. The smell was also amazing!!! The scent was sweet like that of a bakery. We got 2 milk teas and then I went back to the counter to order a waffle, too. I had the oreo milk tea, plain, and our daughter got the Okinawa fresh milk boba tea. They don't kid or play around. I definitely got the cookies and cream drink that I wanted. The flavor was EXCELLENT!! No aftertaste at all. Our daughter seems to really be enjoying hers, as well. Poor customer service! Rude staff! I wasn't asking for anything for free! I was a paying customer and expected at least basic respect. I came back after a long time despite a previous bad experience here, and unfortunately nothing has changed. I asked for no ice and was told, "we don't do no ice," which makes no sense whatsoever. I even suggested charging a few cents for the extra tablespoon of milk or whatever ingredient was needed. And I was charged $1.25! Which was an unreasonable amount I think. Definitely not worth it! Ordered: Okinawa Milk Tea Boba with Aloe (non-caffeinated) It's clean and spacious. The main reason I went here is because their menu clearly showed that drinks can be adjusted by ice level and sweetness. There were photos of two other boba spots on Yelp. They didn't show whether ice level and sweetness can be adjusted so I avoided those spots. Happy Lemon also noted which drinks were non-caffeinated. I ordered the Okinawa Milk Tea. It tastes good. I was somewhat upset at the person who took my order because they didn't ask me if I wanted to adjust my sugar and ice level. I'm annoyed at myself for forgetting. I remembered right before she sealed it. She scraped a little syrup and some ice after I told her I want 50% sugar and 75% ice. It's cool she tried. I tried the drink in my car; it was too sweet for me. I should have gone back and asked for a refund or remake my drink. Will I come back here? Maybe if I happen to be around the area. I recommend that employees ask customers about adjusting their sugar and ice. I have health issues. Limiting my sugar helps. When I got home, I diluted the milk tea. 3/5 read more

I haven't been here in a while and decided to try it again. Currently they're allowing one party to order inside at a time, and the line starts outside the door. I ordered the Strawberry Green Tea with Aloe, Milk Tea with Puff Cream and Boba, and Black Tea with Salted Cheese Cream and Boba. I got all of them in medium and they were surprisingly smaller than I expected. Drinks came out within a few minutes and staff was polite. Packaging on these drinks are quite cute, especially the lemon logo and the decorated lids. I believe that all three drinks I ordered were of the best sellers. The Strawberry Green Tea with Aloe was pretty good, but to be fair I think I've never had a bad one. There are chunks of strawberry in it and it's pretty refreshing. Secondly, the Milk Tea with Puff Cream and boba was quite disappointing. It felt very bland, lacked tea flavor, and just hits one note of milk. Wasn't that sweet either to be noticeable at 100% sweet. Lastly, I tried the most popular drink, the Black Tea with Salted Cheese Cream and boba. The tea was pretty mediocre and what saves this drink is the cheese foam, makes sense that that's what they're known for. I have not been back here in a while, and I am still happy that things are more or less the same (in terms of quality of the tea). With the COVID precautions, they encourage social distancing inside and outside the store. They ask for no more than 2 parties inside the store. The employees are all wearing gloves and masks. They separate any interaction you have with the staff with their plexiglass. Today I ordered the strawberry green tea with 75% sweet and 50% ice. It tastes really good for me. I could dumb it down to 50% sweet, but I get nervous when teas start tasting like water to me. I like the strawberry purée you get in this drink and for the price, it was well worth it for me. Overall, my "overall" favorite tea shop in the area. When I just want to get fruit tea in general, happy lemon is my go to. I also love their Mango Yakult smoothie as well. The flavor and quality of tea has been consistent at pretty much all locations I've visited, but the Pleasant Hill location is probably one of my favorites. My only complaint is that they don't serve bubble waffles here :( Even so, my husband and I frequent this location often. Our all-time faves that never fail: * A2 Black Tea with SC (5/5) - If you like sweet and creamy, definitely order this. It's one of their Top 10 drinks and is a nice variation of a classic black milk tea. We order ours with 50% ice and sugar. * Mango Matcha (5/5) - Another delicious drink you can never go wrong with. This is a blended drink that is both creamy from the matcha and fruity from the mango. We really enjoy the mango tidbits that you get throughout the drink. A treat, but so, so easy to slurp down! * Grapefruit & Yakult (5/5) - My personal favorite and go-to drink when I want something fresh and a bit lighter. The tangy citrus goes hand-in-hand with Yakult (a popular probiotic drink), WHO KNEW? You get great taste + help with digestion. It's a win-win! I also get this one with 50% sugar. New drinks we tried this visit: * Mango Lemon Slushy (2.5/5) - We originally wanted to get this drink because we love a slush texture, but this was way too sweet/tart for our liking. If you love a strong lemon flavor, this is the drink for you. Most of the mango flavor comes from the mango jelly included in the drink. Not our cup of tea so we probably won't order this again. * Grapefruit Oolong with Salted Cheese (3.5/5) - I got this one on a whim since I saw a friend of mine order the same thing. I figured, I love grapefruit, salted cheese, and oolong, this HAS to be good. Unfortunately, this wasn't the combo for me. The grapefruit oolong is a bit bitter on its own, so the SC did add some sweetness and saved the drink somewhat. But overall, I don't think we'll order this again either. I suggest trying grapefruit & yakult with SC instead. That's def next on our list! So next time you're craving boba, visit your local Happy Lemon! Nowhere else does consistency and customer service like this location. My go-to orders: Oreo Tiramisu milk tea with salted cream (A5), Okinawa fresh milk (D11), grapefruit yakult (E2), kumquat lemon green tea (E13). Always 25% or 0% sugar. Not going to talk too much about the drinks. If you discount the recent booming boba scene in San Ramon, Happy Lemon Pleasant Hill is easily one of the best boba shops in Contra Costa. (Also if you're already at San Ramon, why not hop over to Pleasanton/Dublin?) I want to talk about the employees that work here. They are extremely well trained, they never work with an attitude and they show genuine concern in their customer's orders. Every single time their employees have checked in with me on my kumquat lemon green tea order to make sure I truly only wanted 25% sugar and that I am aware that it may be sour and bitter as a result of my sugar choices. This Happy Lemon location is located in the College Park Center. It is a small plaza with a shared parking lot. The employees here are not the most friendly either. I am not sure why this location never have the bubble waffles available when I come here. They stopped the physical rewards card, but they do have a rewards system through their app. Also, I am not sure why at this particular location, your purchases are worth less points or 'lemons' than at other locations I have been to. I alternate between the Green Tea with Salted Cheese and boba, Mango Boba Green Tea, and Mango Matcha with boba. Their salted cheese green tea was okay - a bit chalky and thick compared to other locations, so it made me kind of thirsty as I was drinking it. The mango green tea was decent - it was refreshing, but it tasted a bit too overly sweet here. The mango matcha here was decent as well, but it tasted like it was not well blended. read more
