As someone who owns and operates a restaurant, I don't leave reviews lightly. But this experience was bad enough that I feel obligated to warn other people. The hygiene alone should be enough to make anyone turn around and walk out. The employee working the front repeatedly coughed into his hands, rubbed his nose, sneezed, then immediately went back to handling customers' utensils, napkins, and food-related items without washing or sanitizing his hands. It happened over and over again. It was honestly disgusting to watch. Basic food safety should never be optional. Then came the bill. Three items. One tiny crepe, one madeleine, and one quiche. Nearly $50. I actually thought there had been a mistake. The crepe was embarrassingly small, and the chicken inside was some of the worst I've had. It was dry, stringy, chewy, and tasted incredibly cheap. There was absolutely nothing fresh or high quality about it. The portions were tiny, the quality was poor, and the prices were completely disconnected from reality. My husband was born and raised in France, and we've spent plenty of time eating at cafés and bakeries there. This isn't even remotely comparable. It's an overpriced imitation that relies on the idea of being French instead of delivering food that's actually worth eating. If you're going to charge premium prices, then deliver premium quality, proper food safety, and an experience that justifies it. This place failed on every one of those fronts. We won't be back, and I genuinely can't understand why this place has the reputation it does. read more

Everything was great--I came here with my hubby and daughter for a morning coffee and had such a lovely experience. The ambiance was perfect, with light music and plenty of seating to relax and enjoy. We tried the croissants, which were delicious, but the highlight was the blueberry scone. Dipping it into a latte and then taking a bite made it taste like a soft, freshly baked cake--absolutely amazing! I highly recommend trying the blueberry scone this way; it was such a unique and delightful experience. If you're visiting downtown Walnut Creek, this place is definitely worth a stop. For my francs, this is easily one of the best cafés in the region. There's so much seating; huge case of pastries and beverages; and great ambience. My family heard this was a small business and we love to support places in town like this. Lots of fabulous seating inside and outside in Alamo. The menu is very extensive for lunch! We were not that hungry so we just got lattes and a blueberry scone. My vanilla latte was perfect! Not too sweet and had a great robust espresso flavor. They have lots of bistro seating outdoors as well as inside seating with benches, tables and couches. It offers a very chill, relaxed vibe! Bright and calm ambiance. We had ube croissant, Marseille Crepe and Dubai Strawberry Crepe. Ube Croissant had generous ube filling. This filling was smooth and not sweet. Marseille was savory but had more dried tomatoes than I would want so it was a little sour. I would go back for the Dubai chocolate- chocolate was not too sweet, it has enough kadayif for the crunch. Six of us dropped in for lunch. Nice ambiance but we left disappointed with the food. The lunch menu is extensive but it is only displayed on the wall. So, one has to stand there and figure out what one wants. No paper menus to take to your table. The order taker was nice but there was confusion about one order. Language was a bit of an issue. The tables were not being cleared promptly. It seems like the staff lunch time is same as the customers lunch time and they were sitting in the customer area having their lunch at the same time as customers. We ordered four lunch specials ($16.95), one sandwich and one croque monsieur ($14.95). All sandwiches had the same problem: too little filling for the baguettes! Poor bread to filling proportion. Nearly every one left bread on their plates. We noticed other customers also did not finish their lunch as their tables were not being cleared. The croque monsieur had negligible bechamel sauce and zero cheese inside the bread. The medium size chocolate chip cookie was priced at $5.95! For one! Good concept, poor execution. My Ice Mocha coffee was just right. Coffee not too strong or weak. Also not too sweet. We shared the banana French toast. Portion was right for the two of us. Although I wish the bread was thicker. After having lunch nearby on 02/27/2024, my friend NN and I came here for a cup. It was pretty busy when we walked in at around 12:30pm. We were immediately greeted by the staff. The interior was bright and clean. The vibe was relaxing and cozy. NN got a matcha latte while I opted for a large cold brew and a Sable Nutella. The total before tip was about $17. We were given a number placard for our order. Both items I had were pretty good. The coffee was robust, and the Nutella shortbread cookie was a decently soft and decadent. We came in because i had been following them on Instagram and we were in the area. Everything looked amazing...except seeing a fly on the croissant. With the croissants being over $7.00 each, why would this establishment have open cases. Nothing is protecting the pastries from flies... Specifically I've been on the hunt for good savory breakfast crepes. The location looks like DT Walnut Creek. There's plenty of parking in a parking garage about a block away (first hour is free). There is also street parking but it looked pretty packed so I opted for the garage. The interior is very cozy and intimate. There's a mixture of table sizes, bench top seating looking out the window, tables with cushioned booth seating on one side, and even small sofas/chairs in the corner. Spent about $50 the first go around. Ordered the Lille crepe (spinach, cheese, and salmon), large macaron, pistachio cake, ham and bechamel croissant, bacon and leek quiche slice, and the raspberry linzer. Then spent another $10 on drinks (bottled Perrier and organic lemonade from the refrigerated section plus $2 tip). The crepe did not disappoint! Tasty and generous filling of salmon and cheese instead of filling with mostly spinach. Very happy with my choice. I would like to try the other crepes next time. Maybe a sweet one too! I was very full after the crepe and struggled to finish the rest of the pastries. We ended up getting boxes for the leek and bacon quiche (did not eat it) and half the large macaron. The macaron was too sweet for my partner, but I liked it. I liked the flavor combination and the fresh raspberries inside. The ham and bechamel croissant was also a hit!
