I went to Dairy Dan after searching for ice cream places near by that were open around 10. Luckily this place is open till 11 on Friday and Saturday. Amazing selection of ice cream and flavors/ flurries/shakes. They have a cute seating area towards the back. Service was topnotch the guy behind the window was very sweet. I came to Dairy Dan's twice during the three days I was in town! Places like this are hard to find on the West Coast so I like to take advantage. :) Birthday cake dip is my jam. I shrieked when I saw it on the menu. I like it with vanilla but it's also good with almond-y flavored ice cream. I really appreciate that the Death by Chocolate sundae was served in a hot dog container. It made it so easy to get good bites with all the topping and flavors and it was loaded AF. We even got to see some fireflies while eating at one of the picnic tables, although seating is a bit limited. read more

I went to dairy Dan after hearing that they have no sugar added frozen yogurt. They don't have indoor dining space but plenty of picnic tables next to shop. I ordered a cream puff sundae with no sugar added froyo and opted the fudge to peanut butter sauce with pretzels and extra whipped cream and hubby got a twist cone and they were both great! Menu and options are very wide and price is reasonable. The girl was running the shop by herself but service was fast and friendly. Only 1 star. Paid a lot for 2 flavored soft serve cones. One was supposed to be cake batter but was just vanilla. The salted caramel cone was ok. Manage your expectations here folks. Not that great and not good value. read more

Pros: has 24 vegan flavors with vanilla as a base Con: I got a caramel and German chocolate twist but it all looked like caramel? It had no strong flavor either. Seemed just like the one at king kone but more diluted and I'm really bummed because I wanted chocolate but didn't want to cause a stir. They also didn't ask if I wanted a cup or cone. Might give it another shot I just feel sad now tho, ate a ton of empty calories with that sugar cone and such. read more

We absolutely love Dairy Dan!! Each time we come back to Westland to visit family, we make a point of getting ice cream at Dairy Dan. We love the flavored soft-serve and the prices are reasonable. I especially like that you can add different flavors to your dip if you like a dipped cone. :) read more

Simply giving three stars because the parking lot situation is an absolute mess. We had trouble parking at first but then we decided that we would go elsewhere. Big mistake. It is so jampacked that there is no room for other cars to allow me to leave the parking lot. Took about 15 minutes to get out. Shame because it is clearly very popular. Not to mention that there was a young child scootering infront of the parking. I believe the benches are dangerously close parking and can only imagine what could happen. Hope to try this place once i can actually get to the building. read more

My sister in law turned my wife and I onto Dairy Dan's. Their "flurries" or whatever they're called was my pick. It's basically soft serve chock full of some sort of unhealthy items that I shouldn't be eating. LOL! I had mine mixed with cheesecake bites. Pretty damn tasty. However, their sizes are deceptive. If you're starving, and you haven't eaten in a month, you MIGHT finish a large. These things are HUGE! Dairy Dan's is a great place for cream tastiness year 'round! I love this place! read more

You just can't beat it. A small place that sells all the ice cream and toppings. It brings out the kid in everyone. This dairy dan is different than the one further north in that it isn't open year around, but it's s great staple in the neighborhood. Staff is friendly and prices aren't that bad. There is even a picnic area and open yard section if you just so happen to bring a blanket or chairs and watch cars drive by. read more

This location used to be our favorite but this year the staff is rude, the prices are way higher than other places close by and we waited 20 mins tonight while four girls sat inside just laughing together. We go here several times over the summer. We like the variety of flavors you can get for soft serve, combined with the topping choices, you have nearly limitless choices for flurry creations! BUT, I've noticed over the past few years, the amount of candy (usually Snickers) I get in my cup, has dwindled, I almost couldn't find ANY the past 2 visits. You can, for an additional charge, ask for double toppings. They do a yearly fund raiser, "Clown Night", and the staff donate their tips through the season to Karmanos. read more

I have a hard time believing that some of these are genuine posts written by honest patrons and not people who are somehow connected with the business. I've been to this Dairy Dan twice and both times had a very bad experience. First time, I ordered an icecream with strawberrie topping and asked for the girl to mix it in for me with the icecream so i wasn't eating all the topping in the first few bites and when she tried doing that, a woman manger who was clearly micro managing her came up behind and whispered somehting in her ear and my request was not fulfilled. I know I was asking a little extra of the worker, but those are the types of things that make me want to pull out an extra dollar or two as a tip for my appreciation of her deed and great customer service. Second time I ordered a flurry and there was barely any topping in the actual flurry. Then when I tried showing it to the manager, she told me tough and that's just how it comes. I told her I wanted my money back and she told me to get off the property and slammed the window in my face. No, I'm not kidding about that. I found it to be very cheap and skimping with the toppings for what you pay and then when I addressed it I was treated very rudely. I will not make the mistake of going back here a 3rd time. And I don't mind paying $4-5 for a small icecream, but jeesh, at least sell me a good product. I'm not going to be happy paying top dollar for a cheap, skimpy product and horrible customer service. read more

tried this place for the first time and i loved it. i said their sign on the board that said they had blue moon soft serve, and i just had to try it! i got a cone with sprinkles and it was delicious :) the girl who took my order was very sweet as well! i also love that they have so many flavors of soft serve! much better than the dairy dan on wayne road. read more
